I appreciate the English videos as well. RME is one of the most informative companies I can name. No frills, no fuss, nothing to hide. Excellent work all!
I appreciate that RME are a bunch of engineers in it to make gear that's reliable, lasts for decades, and posts real-life specs rather than tweaking their measurement framework to make things look good on paper.
Great, very cool! :D ..question: I recently got the ADI-2 Pro FS R and I love it so far!... I mainly use the Audeze LCD-X (20 ohm 103 dB/1mW) and the Focal Clear (55 ohm 104 dB/1mW) with the "Hi-Power" option turned off and get plenty, more than enough of volume out of them... The question is: would turning Hi-Power on (and lowering the volume) benefit the headphones' sound quality? What do you recommend?
Not needed. Low Power mode drives them just fine to loud levels and has a tiny bit of lower noise floor that if beneficial to these more sensitive headphones. Used to drive my LCD-XC in Low Power mode too and far from the maximum volume.
Should there be any audible difference between low vs high output? I think i hear low output a little cleaner than high using hd650 sennheiser. Thanks a lot, your product is great. ( i have adi 2fs sabre edition…)
Why does ADI 2 Pro and DAC FS have different feet. I notice that there's a little play when Beyerdynamic was being shown while adjusting the Treble. DAC FS has a solid feet but Pro does not.
I love my new ADI-2 FS, it's the best DAC I've ever owned. The only issue I have had, is to play DSD file from my DAP, the Fiio M11 Pro from either SPDIF or USB. Any thoughts?
I use RME ADI-2 DAC FS with Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro 250 ohms. I can say for myself that the RME ADI-2 DAC FS is a great device. I do not spend a single euro that I missed for such a great device.
Hi, I have Adi 2 dac fs and Audiotecnica ATH-R70 X headphones with an impedance of 470 ohms. My question is. Adi 2 dac fs in HI POWER mode is able to power headphones with 470 ohms or do I need an external amplifier to exploit the maximum dynamic potential of the ATH-R70 X headphones. You can know in ohms the maximum power of the headphone output of adi dac 2 fs ?
Yes you can run your 470 ohm headphone with the ADI-2 DAC FS. Please read the manual on page 61. There are diagrams where you can check the power in relation to the impedance. Extreme Power Charts: www.rme-audio.de/downloads/adi2dacr_e.pdf
@@RMEAudio Thanks! I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart because since I have Rme Adi dac 2 fs my life has changed I have had many successes at work and my level has risen! The audio quality, driver, stability and low latency is truly exceptional! Every aspect and Adi dac fs 2 is Amezing ! I am truly amazed by the audio drivers that allow me to use my music daw to its full potential! THANKS, THANKS, and THANKS again RME !!!!
Surpised he didn't mention using an Adaptor Cable - Dual 6.35mm (1/4") Male to Female 4 Pin XLR for going totally Balanced and getting even MORE power for something like the HEDDphone
Great video!! Question: Can the RME ADI-2 adequately drive 300 Ohm + headphones, such as HD800, Hifiman, or ZMF in extreme power mode? Very curious is a separate amp is needed on these situations or if the RME can be a stand alone option? Thanks!
Hi, My current monitoring setup is a Babyface pro FS + HEDDphone. I’m pretty happy with how they sound together but I am wondering if an upgrade to the ADI 2 DAC would improve the sound quality even more (paired with those same headphones).
I have an ADI-2 DAC FS with 300 ohm headphones and I'm not using hi power mode. 🤦 RME: Is there a benefit to Hi Power mode beyond increasing the output volume?
There is no benefit, and actually there is a disadvantage as you can see on this graph: ruclips.net/video/15Zyuo-cOIk/видео.html on equivalent levels hi power mode provides higher thd+N
Auto reference level for the headphone output is a good choice. That way you won't have to decide between lo and hi power; it will automatically switch to hi power when you set the volume to -15 dBr.
When auto volume turned on it seems like one cannot turn on extreme output preference..... Manual bit unclear about this situation. I use rme adi-2dac with beyerdynamic DT 880 and Sennheiser HD 660 headphones.
The Hifiman Arya is 35 Impedance and 90db Sensitivity. Will this drive them OK? If so, will the bass adjust help to give them a good enough bass so they are not so bass anemic? Thanks in advance for your help.
I would like to know this too. Seems that it is in the borderline should one use Low Power of Hi Power for this. The new Arya Stealth Magnet impedance is 32Ω and sensitivity 94dB. Also interested would using balance mode in the pro bring any benefits?
For all models from this video it is better to use low power settings, because it has lower thd+N on practical volume levels, and high power mode for them provides unpractically high volume levels. Least sensitive HEDD phones from this video with 100dB/V sensitivity will feed 105dB into your ears on +7dBu with low power mode, which already overwhelming for most people. For high power output to be practically reasonable, you need headphones less sensitive than 95dB/V. AKG K1000 are around 84dB/V, Hifiman HE-6 are around 97dB/V, Hifiman Susvara are around 95dB/V, so this video could be less marketing and more technically reasonable with something like this;)
@@ixoye56 and as he stated in the video until maxed out there is no change in THD%. Even the deafest individual in the world couldn't enjoy listening to levels THAT high!!!
I am using the Audeze LCD-X and compared the normal Output versus the High Power Output: The Bass is better on the higher Output and everything feels a lot better or stable. I am wondering how much Volt the High Power Headphone has? Compared to my rme 802 Headphone Output the difference in sound is quite high! The 802 sounds cheaper and transients are sounding a bit harsh maybe.
“High Power” does not change the amp all, it only switches the analog level after DA-conversion. The headphone-amp-stage always runs on full, high power. Therefore you gain better sound quality when using “Auto Reference Level”.
What is your favorite headphone?
My old HD600 are very good.
I love PLANAR headphones but I can't mix with any headphones.

What is that stand using with LCD-X?
can the headphone output be used as a LFE, in a 2.1 setup?
Only on the ADI-2 Pro (FS) (R).
Was the noise audible when using extreme power with HD6xx or DT990 pro? ☺️

DigiCheck NG (for Mac OS) or DigiCheck (for Windows). It is free to download from the RME website. It works with all RME Interfaces.
I have 2. Use with Focal headphones.
