Trust the Science
just keep a pot of salted wated in ur freezer... u put the beer in the freez for later and the one u want to drink asap inside the salted water... like u have water still liquid at -15celcius.. the thermal exchange gonna be super fast and in 10 minut its ready to drink.. ure outside working in the garden ur half finish beer is warm: put it in the -15 water time to get a glass of water then 2 3 minut ur beer is nicely cold..
BBQ Mythbusters!
That is wild! Great video guys!
Bigger cooler, more beer and ice and a little less salt sounds like a party.
We move are beverages: beer water soda to another cooler that has plain ice keeping the salted ice cooler from being opened & closed
When the regular ice cooler(s) are low we add more drinks to the salted ice cooler 🤟
Does anyone know the amount of rock salt per amount of ice cube ?
Ex 1 cup salt - 1 gallon of ice ?
It works, I froze a case of beer in my Yeti, it works too good!! Thanks guys!!
Does it have to be the rock salt or can you use regular salt to do the same
Any salt will work.
If you want a faster effect, use the fine salt.
If you want it to be slightly slower use the course.
Showing us how to Get Beers Cold and Make Tasty BBQ ... What did the world do right to deserve you guys?
This is a very good video, I had no idea AND Miller High Life is my favorite beer!
Another great tip from the dynamic duo.
This is science doing great things in the world right here! 🌎🧊
Trying this !!!
Is there a particular salt to use or just any salt will do?
Works too well! Maybe just a few shakes of salt
Only beer? I don't drink alcohol 🙄
wonderful tip!
Miller High Life is my go to beer.
It will cool faster however it will also melt faster than regular ice so pros and cons to both options
curious how it would be after 3 hours
Extra cold lol
My suggestion is add ice as well as water.
in thailand i have an easier method.i bring an insulated cup to the bar and fill it always full of ice.the ice melts very slowly even with the lid off.
We always added salt to ice that we laid food on when I used to work for a catering company long ago. It always kept things nice and cold.
Just regular Morton’s salt or this ice cream salt
@@Mikeselchow kosher salt. I also do this in ice chests to cool down drinks but I add some water to melt the ice so there is more contact area with the drinks and then add the kosher salt. The water eventually get into the low 20’s which is still pretty chilly and gets drinks cold quick.
@@txfieros appreciate it
It looks like the beer is already cold!
This video is too good !!! Thanks !!!
Bit of difference between getting colder and getting it colder faster. If you want to cool off a liquid in bottle faster, the formula is :
Mass of beer * heat capacity * temperature drop of beer per minute = heat transfer coefficient x Area of bottle x (temp beer - temp of ice bath).
So, if you want to increase speed up the cooling of the beer, yes it helps to use an salt ice bath, but it really helps to stir both the beer and the ice bath. slosh the cooler around boys!
What would happen if you tried this with a keg?
It works amazing 😂
Now that is a cool trick to know
Holy smokes
follow the science!
Wow!
Do it with a keg to keep it cold forever
Learned this in the army lol
That was awesome guys
I have done before, works really well.
nothing is more summertime than a cooler full of Miller ponies on ice
not everyone has them so i got the 12 oz'ers too most of the time
Yeah the ponies are hard to come by now days
Whoooooaaaaaa hold on now! Beer slushy!?
It's not good
Yes Sir! We were in Sumter, SC in June/July 2018. Heat index was 119. A beer out of an iced cooler you got about two sips before it was too warm to drink. I got a 40lb bag of pool salt. Poured some of it in the ice and mixed it up. We had slushy beers in about 20 minutes. Plus you get the salt taste with each sip. Had that bag of salt the whole way back to Alaska. We were in the western US and it was HOT. I would buy warm beer and no kidding, in less than 20 minutes they were freezing. Had to take them out of the cooler so the tops wouldn't pop off. Awesome trick...
Here in Moncks Corner and i agree with that heat! I also use a Yeti beer coozy and it keeps the beer colder longer! Cheers
You'd go to jail for freezing a beer where I come from, and when you arrive you'd meet blokes who served warm beer to their guests as well.
Does it work differently with other salts?
you could use table salt just add a shit load
How can there be climate change deniers when science teaches us these things? 😂
Do this in a Yeti and see what happens
pretty much the same thing over a twenty minute period.
@@jon4589 Yeah, I’m talking about a 24 hour. Just for the fun of it.
they did this on mythbusters 20 years ago
