    I had the same problem on Cyl. 3 and dryed it out, put in new spark plug, coil, several times! No luck. Finally, because the start of my problems began with a change to the A/C system and required me to separate large electrical connectors near the evaporator, I thought I might have a connector problem. Careful examination of the male pins of that connector (upper one) I found 3 pins had been pushed out of place and were not contacting the females. Fixed that, and finally! Everything worked again, the misfire stopped, my indicator light on the overdrive worked, my a/c began to run and continue running. Moral, do not overlook the connectors!

    There is a step-by-step video on RUclips which illustrates how to do the repair. It really isn't that big of a deal. Make some coffee, turn on the radio, forget about the clock and just do the job. You can tell your buddies what a Great mechanic you are...

    I wish ignition systems were still old school distributor, points, and rotor button. They were so easy to work on. You had to tune them up a lot more often but they were easy to fix and easy to diagnose. Dang! Today cars have computers and so many sensors of them it takes forever to figure out what the problem is. Unless of course you have enough extra money to just bring it to a mechanic shop. I don't so I have to fix my own cars most of the time. My next vehicle is going to be an old 70s model. LOL

    Unplug the EGR vacuum tube and plug the end up with a screw. I bet that stop it. My 2002 ford f150 with the same 5.4 did the exact same thing. I put a new intake on it and it did nothing. It was the EGR valve bad. A friend told me how to check it. It is right on top of the motor in the back. The hose will be small about the size of a pencil lead. Unplug it and put a screw in the end. if that stops it then replace the EGR valve. This is not for the guy who made the video but for all of you out there that doesn't have a bad intake. Try it and I bet it fixes the misfire.

    Could you make a video on this truck about the vacuum hoes and the pipes all in that area. The farthest closest to the steering wheel keeps shooting out. I drove it disconnected and it got me home before it shut off. Connected it sounds like it's struggling and drowning. What are your thoughts on that (to the public and to the man posting this video) I'm working on my truck myself, I already replaced the throttle and coils. I'm here to learn, I don't want to send my truck off to someone else. Thank you in advance!

      Pull the misfiring coils and you will find water in there......put some bars leaks copper in the radiator.....dry out the water....lube the end of the coil with dielectric grease....it will run fine...not a permanent fix of course but will buy you some time.....main fix is replacing the intake manifold as you say...

    Just replaced intake on 2000 5 4l and after replacement I had misfires on cylinder 3 4 & 8. After changing them it's not throwing no codes for misfire but getting code 0171 running lean on bank 1. How can I fix this? No codes for misfire but code for running lean on bank 1. Could it be my plugs? Would it throw a code for bad plugs?. Couple cylinders are wet from old intake leaking but before I changed my intake it ran perfect even with antifreeze filled up in the plug well so I don't think that's what it is. Any help is appreciated

    • @oldradio16
      @oldradio16  3 года назад +1

      I would clear it and see if it comes back. If you've done that..is there a possibility you could have gotten something in or on the end of the injectors? Have you tested the oxygen sensor? Clean the batter terminals. You could have been running lean before but it wouldn't have thrown a code with the miss fire

      It run perfectly before changing intake, after replacing it it's misfiring. I'm thinking I might have gotten a little antifreeze in it and the plug is misfiring. When I first started it this morning it run perfect and once I put it in gear it started missing...ill try what I said and check for leaks on vacuum lines and map sensor I'll clean it too. Maybe I'll get it figured out before I take it to someone else who is better than I am

    • @lilygomez82

      @denton Dunn mine was doing that. It can be your pcv valve,egr or oxygen sensor. I replaced all of it. The last thing I replaced was my coils and it solved the problem. Hope it helps. What I want to know is why my truck sounds like I got a chicken squealing when I start it. Don't know if it's my flex plate.
