    I call my block Houdini …. this is really gold - it amazes kids and adults. Plus … no reset! You’re always ready. 10/10 for me

    I love this effect and I use the much cheaper FAB Magic Houdini block as part of a Houdini seance. Fab also makes the block in 3 sizes- close up, parlor and stage.

    I have one and it’s wonderful. However, I’m old enough to have bought Roy Kissel’s version at Fox Fun and Magic around 1968. That version used a block and magician’s rope. It also was a full routine with several different phases. The finale was block off the rope. Great for kid and family shows.

      @@magicorthodoxy about a year after I learned it, I went to abbot’s for the first time. Bought their vampire block illusion, $70, a lot of money for 1969. But I put everything together and had one heck of a routine. I’m willing to share if you’d like. Perhaps on your paid site.

    I just last night found my now vintage old Woodmagic Block off Cord made by Howard Hale . This Richard Spencer version is very similar and looks just as classy and will baffle many Lay people and at a nice price and without needing batteries and it is travel safe.

    Seen old school magicians use this at my local fellowship of Christian magicians club, diy-ed one myself ages ago. The method can be found in several books on classical magic, I believe I first read it in one Del Wilson's books.

      of THIS trick?

    • @Markt005
      @Markt005 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@magicorthodoxy yes. They bought one and learned the moves from the author. Teller’s picture is in the ad. They made their own block live on stage, but all the moves are the same.

      @@magicorthodoxy let me add; George Anderson, Magic Digest. You wouldn’t want to use you $99 block for that. But make your own, use the new moves with the old and you have a miracle

    $95 for a block of wood? I mean it's cool and all, but I can make that myself in a few minutes. I've been a hardwood floor guy for 25 years now so that would be super easy for me to make.

    Hate myself for hating this. At best this is a puzzle and it's not a great one. There are too many moves with it. Wanna do magic, run a cord through once and have it penetrate. I love Stevens, everything is quality. This was a risk. This just landed with a pfffffft for me.

  • @carlpowers7291
    @carlpowers7291 11 месяцев назад +3

    The trick is to see if old farts like me can get the rope through the cord
