For the 8:28 trick u can edit just the shortcut of the section "Main (alt recording)" in the upper right corner, next to "find shorcut" in the action list, i use "D" for a custom action "Transport: Stop (DELETE all record media)" + "Transport: Record" and "S" for a custom action "Transport: Stop (save all recorded media)" + "Transport: Record" to save the take and start recording the next take ... I think i saw it in The Reaper Blog, its a good option. I love the envelope custom action, thanks Kenny, a lot of your videos are in my watch later playlist!

I'm having more fun customizing Reaper than I am actually making the music. I have custom buttons in the upper left that open the FX window of a selected track AND adds a certain plugin. There's a button for my VU meter, EQ, saturation, reverb and limiter. It's very handy! Another great one I made is special buttons to increase the track sizes to a certain "big" value & certain "small" value. One click of a button, I can have them all resized to my set values for high & low.
I’m slowly learning so I can start working in Reaper instead of Studio One and Cubase , which are great in their own right. I just think Reaper can be the quickest workflow Daw . Next for Reaper must be ARA support . Then there would be no looking back

I have an action to toggle between tracks, clean and distorted guitar, but I need to be able to do this when running other software on my main monitor, on top of reaper. my shortcut only works when the window is active. cheers, scott
Maybe you can help! So the keystrokes are all great - but how do you setup the mouse to select sections of audio/items? I can't for the life of me figure how to just simply put my mouse at the start of a mistake, click, drag, have it selected. I do mean specific selections, not just clicking an item to select the whole thing. I have to stop, place the cursor where a mistake begins, hit 'S', move the cursor to the end of the mistake, hit 'S', then click to select the newly cut out item, then I can delete it. This is really inefficient when trying to go through a lot of voiceover audio. In other DAWs I can just click-drag=select and hit delete, move on. Is there a specific action I can make to have that work? Thank you for any help.

hi kenny. i'm trying to create a custom action to reduce all my track item volume to -10db to make gain staging a bit easier but i'm struggling to find the right actions. basically i want to select all media items and reduce them by 10 db. can you help? love youyr channel btw it has helped me tremendously . thankyou

You can also trig custom action with mouse modifiers. Example, ripple cut by using ctrl alt dbl click on an item
