I think it is the best guide on youtube to Shaman. ;]
Also if I may offer a few suggestions on healing w/ the shaman. I noticed in your vid that after you popped Manatide totem that you didnt replace it with a healing stream/mana stream totem afterwards. Important to remember that manatide only last 10 secs or so and you are down a totem when it expires. Use Riptide whenever it is off of CD, much more HPM than your other heals. Use chain heal more often, very effecient if it hits even 2 people. start cast lightning bolt before your OOM.
We are also applying a hotfix for Purification for the Restoration shaman passive from 10% to 25%. We think that shaman healing per second is not as competitive with other healers and while we hoped to bring down Holy priest and Holy paladins (in particular).

hey good guide but was gonna say you usually want to use the Earth Shield on the tank because not only does it heal when they take damage, but it also healing is increased on whoever is wearing the shield.
overall it was a good guide and fun to watch :)
I suggest using healing surge over Greater heal if the tank is low, due to your tidal waves proc from riptide you gain an increased chance of Crit on Healing surge. Aka Faster cast for more heal/around same mana cost.
@Vuj4d3 Actually it's Int > Spirit > crit haste mastery. Last three are personal choice, all equal.
Stat priority for Restro Shamans: Int>Spirit>Mastery>Haste>Crit.

Just curious, what was your item level at the time of the ToT run?
Couple Sugggestions/comments:
You could have included some kind of stat priority, example: haste>spirit>mastery>crit?
Party/raid buffs- When you were talking about totems you stated things like, well I use this one. Maybe metion its important to keep an eye on the buffs provided by other members in the group, since the totem buff will not stack with a similar buff.
Not to take Ancestral Swiftness is a grave mistake. Also, in raids, cleansing waters isn't that important, and if your not assigned to dispels, totally worthless. And for those that asked, stat priority is if your having mana trouble Int>Spirit>Crit>Haste>Mastery. After that it's Int>Crit>haste>Spirit>Mastery. Your mastery isn't that great except on fights like Chimeron. Personally, unless we're sucking, no one is ever low enough, long enough, so the mastery is meh.
Earth Shield 24/7 on tank, Chail Heal when group has low HP, Healing Wave to hang on Tank + Riptde or just if he has really low HP use Greater Healing Wave. Thats a point to be good shammy healer :)

Crit is our BEST stat, hands down. Crit = Mana back + Tons of extra healing done to more than one person. Read EJ forums. Noone uses mastery
hey i recently made a resto shaman and have fallen in love with him,
i do have a few questions about the video though
1) does the spell power boost from you flame tongue totem increase healing?
2) what does astral recall do? Is it worth getting the glyph over one of the reagent ones?
3) how should i build my characters stats? (ex aim for 3 parts int, 2 parts spirit and 1 part mastery)
4) should i ever consider using lightning bolt during combat or should i focus completely on healing?

Also popping Riptide on cooldown is much better than using a healing wave. Mana efficient for more heal, not to mention instant.
With the totems you need to pay attention to who is in the party or raid since they are superseded by other buffs, for example flametongue and arcane mages don't stack and wrath or air and moonkins don't stack. Paladins can use protection aura which doesn't stack with stoneskin and other tanks have buffs which don't stack with strength of earth.
Good video, very informative and excited to get my shaman up to 85. The only problem with the video is the demonstration. Its not good when you show a wipe, and on such an easy boss in a cata heroic. Also from what i have seen from guildies or in general, the best thing about shamans are that they are mana batteries and always have plenty of mana, that demonstration made me worry a little. Also you should do a warlock guide or something, my main is also a lock.
telluric currents is a good talent, especially in raid. But it is not so helpful without elemental precision since you have healing gears and pretty low hit rating. If you don't use lightning bolt to restore mana that much, you can put the talent points to Ancestral Swiftness. It is might be one of the best talent for a lot of raid combats.
When giving examples of the heals, you should have shown them on an eath shielded target, as it would increase the healing.
I would've talked more about the totems. For instance if you have a Mage they have arcane brilliance so you don't need to use flametongue totem, moonkin aura and spriest means non wrath of air totem. And you didn't keep an eye on your totems in that boss fight, your watertotem got destroyed.

You also never used healing rain which after riptide is the shamans most powerful heal for a party since it does equivalent to a greater heal on every party member and you can heal at the same time plus crits put on ancestral fortitude which reduces damage and it is almost guaranteed with healing rain.
ah, and ofc healing rain! :) The best ability when u have your shammy enchant at wpn. It heals awesome but you need to have rly fast mana regen.
@Jynus13 The problem with Mastery is this - it affects the exact same healing issue as crit (throughput) with only a modest increase in value, even at optimal performance levels (e.g. when the target is at extremely low health.) If you take a look at this chart, you'll see that even when the target is at 1% health and you with a 99% crit chance, Mastery provides only 1.58% more healing throughput against the same budget of crit - and that's the best-case scenario. -EJ again

liked the vid man, even though the fight was a fail, some maybe like why show a fail, i say ehh who cares, not every fight gonna go smooth. And it shows more info then a smooth fight in my opinion, cause it allows us and yo to see what could be done better in the future. so no worries mate.

No interrupts, no hex on the adds and poor crit rating all equal a lot of dead party members. Plus with high crit you recover mana almost as fast as you use it and get a lot more from telluric currents.

just a thought .. maybe use a fight video of you saving the party instead of letting it die? ;-)
@JDaragas Nerf? GHW and Chain Heal are much more effective, and let's not forget our mastery has a 0.5% buff which may not seem like much but it really adds up.

this is pretty helpful but sometimes the over powering back ground music is louder than your voice. its hard to hear what you are saying sometimes with the epic battle music blaring in the background. Otherwise I give it 5 totems up.

ur problem with mana is you put out healing totem instead of mana totem, and u didnt spec the better shields u spec'd wpns instead. im goblin shammy and practically never run out of mana and always keep my party alive. only time someone dies is if they dont know the fights or they get to ocnfident with their pulls.

Just some friendly advice from one shaman to another. Know your facts and your class. I stopped when you started picking your talents...i just felt you had absolutely no idea what you were talking about and very un-sure about yourself. Theres a lot more reference as to why you would pick a talent...especially something like totemic focus...which is a VERY good talent to have, as well as ancestral resolve :- /

as a resto shaman i think they nerfed us to bad, mana costs went up and ooming on every boss fight -_-'

Don't blame yourself. one the dps sucked as dps and not ccing. that Dk and Mage should of known their class better, plus looking I don't think that tank was anywhere near crit immune , did that mage use mirrors or invisibility ? I rarely died as a mage ,

@sergey300692 - Not everyone is a genius like you (/sarcasm) and there can always be new things to learn. Or, like me, maybve you're coming to it as an off-spec which you haven't played in ages and you want a refresher / brush up. Yeah, yeah I know you're all elite and space alien gene special and shit, but the rest of us are mere mortals. And we sometimes use guides like this.

@cman0222 me bad? you with 3/13 heroic and 12/12 normal is a baddie? yeah you are so right i am a baddie... i know how to play the game i know whats bad and whats good infact i play a resto shaman. in TGN there are a couple of good people, actually most of them are good but a few shouldnt make videos such as this one. Towlie is a great example. Excellent player but we dont need to hear about how good he is. This one however doesnt know what he is talking about and cant even edit correctly.
