220kg for that big boy. ALSO! A suggestion from a guy that used to work at a welding supply store (fixing welders and plasma cutters) Make sure to keep on top of the torch consumables and replace them when they need replacing. Don't skimp and try and make them last longer than they're supposed to, they do wear out (sometimes quicker than you might think!) and make sure you get the correct consumables, the wrong ones can look very similar/identical but the torch will not work full stop. Also don't drop the torch head or give it any hard knocks, they are fragile and expensive inside. That and make sure the air supply is dry, water in the air will destroy the consumables very quickly. Enjoy the light saber!
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say 120 lbs or as the rest of the world would say it 54.4311 kgs. I've been a subscriber/watcher since the beginning, even got input on what turbos to use on my 99 Camaro build. It is only getting better and better, thank y'all for the excellent content!

It's refreshing to see youtubers actually take their time and build things properly. Watching other people buying new 'dailys' every second day gets old quick.
I'm really surprised how easy that engine fits in that bay. of course there's a lot to do to make it work but at least it fits. cant wait to see it run.
I saw the episode header and thought it will with a BFH and a little well placed massaging on the firewall . I got a 360 dodge in a Opel cadet FFS I needed to beef up the front suspension afterwards but it fit it had a massive hole in the hood but it fit and went like a cat on fire god I miss that car.
Roger has grown so much!!! I had heard of big engines being put into Crowns before....well more on Crown chassis. I'd heard that the older Crowns actually had a ladder rail chassis underneath and heaps of people built T-bucket type hot rods using them.
The canted bellhousing is just for the steering box clearance on a UZS131, it won't help with clearance on the much narrower S55 chassis. The 131 also had some of the most horrific exhaust manifolds to go with the bellhousing twist.
If it were easy, we would not need Al and Woody show us the way to do it. Nice to see "OC" helping out and enjoying an Lemon Squash or two. I say the Big Block weighs about 33 cases of Lemon Squash.

My buddies work at Moroso, those pans actually make horsepower on a big block because they reduce windage, I would recommend one, that’s what I run on my Shafiroff 540
Make sure to knock all the weld splatter bb's out of it before running it though seen a couple circle track engines smoked because of them I had to cut the baffles out of one to clean it properly and there was some real junk trapped under the baffles and it had never been ran or fitted was new out the box
17:53 I don't know what that is, but it looks like a GM Opel or something. Now that is an amazing looking ride! Might be one of the best I have ever seen looks wise of that model.

Good choice on the plasma, the UniMig cutter is a ripper. Forget what the book says about sheet thickness & amps, turn it up and moderate your cut depth by the speed of your travel. Heaps cleaner cut & faster. 👍 454 are pretty hefty, no ex. manifolds and pretty bare I'm guessing 280-285kg?
I'm gonna go low and say around the 210kg mark, Lots of alloy bits, overbore for capacity taking weight from the block. Also that looks like it's gonna be fun to do the UCA shims for wheel alignment when the headers are on.
274 kg for the win. I'm concerned for your oil pan sump relocation plans. The oil pump on the Chevy Rat is within an inch or so from the bottom of the pan so I don't see you being able to move the sump to the middle. I hope I am wrong.
would the electric steering rack from a Prius fit? keeping the purity (ok, so other than a big block. lol) as Martin would say. this would also save the room taken up by the power steering pump? maybe keep the hydraulic rack but to save space run a remote mounted electric power steering pump?
" Experienced mechanic and weilder of Lever bar, Not a council worker " " Can test the chemicals in a swimming pool by a swift dip of his pinky " " Downhill MTB record holder, Not a brand of goat milk. " " can piece together a a lobro CV Joint with his eyes closed "
Looks like you should space it up as high as possible to give some clearance under that glide and get the primary headers above the control arms. Not going under the bonnet anyhow.
Is it worthwhile doing a strut conversion to the front, seeing as though you have to do a rack conversion anyway ???.....would allow a lot more clearance for the primaries, and would increase the handling and support of the weight of the BBC. If you're going to this much trouble, may as well make it easy to change plugs etc'.....
Will the car need updated suspension to handle the extra heft of that monster of an engine and/or the chassis strengthened to handle the extra power?? Looks like ground clearance might be an issue too. Can’t wait to see the journey and end result, will be awesome

Very cool, guys. Keen to follow this build
Great to see that there's real hope for fitting a big block into your Crown. It gives me some hope of getting the 1uz conversion done on mine.
1UZ has lower exhaust ports that clash with the upper control arms. Strange that and engine nearly twice the capacity fits better.
@@theskidfactory I have a set of log headers and a factory canted bellhousing that should alleviate this issue to a degree.

Shoehorning a big V8 in to a old 70s toyota, now where have i seen that lol. Awesome idea for a build Al, its going to be mad.

I'd guess 275lg as it's hangin' there. Don't worry about how long each build takes. Every one is a story, and you blokes tell it well.
I’m so bloody excited for this build 🤙🏽🤙🏽
At the end of the video when you asked which came first the chicken or the egg, I thought it would have been the rooster!!

If this is going to be a summernats kind of car, would be sweet to see it with Hillborn style intake stacks, except electronic injection
I am surprised that it fits so easy but the old crowns were pretty big
Reminds me a bit of a hq chassis 👍👍
Great video as always legends!!
“Big blocks are big, so that’s why they’re called big blocks”.
Words of wisdom here!
Lookin good boys. No substitute for Cubic inches💪
This build is going to be epic!! My guess for the big block with the heads and intake is 295kgs. Keep up the great work lads 🤙🏻
A 9.8L engine in a car that weighs how much?
Madness, I absolutely love the idea!
Problem is the engine they will be putting in isn't a 9.8L.
That's just the engine used for test fitting.

Seeing as there is many cars with electric steering nowadays is there some options there that may make your choice easier, is that an option?

Twin turbos facing back to back and a 6" exhaust pipe, clock the turbos to the I take and put 2 big filters and it's a monster for fuel
Yeah, but I reckon he will be ok w/o 3000hp.
285kg.
Reckon you will be able to still change the plugs with that clearance to the upright?
Loving this build , mini tubs ?
There are a couple of big block crowns down in Victoria that are engineer approved due to the full chassis .
350kgs I rekon

276kg I'd guess. Best channel on RUclips lads

302 kg ! This is going to be a fun little series !
5:50 what’s the engine way? Around 350kg?
Have a look at Finnigens Chanel on the close ratio big block log manifolds.
I vote yes too long, well detailed build, lots of "use yer brain" humor and more of Turbo Ninja's take on the whole thing! We will be here, sir! FR

C'mon the skid factory should enter something into the skid competition at rockynats, it's in the name! Plus that would be awesome 👌
What is the song from the first fitting montage? The upbeat harmonica jazz thingy? Also love the build so far. 💪
Going to be a fun car with a 454 😍
315kg 👍 there's no replacement for displacement 💪
Surprised the turbo Yoda is going big block but there so much easier. Good luck fella it's going to be a fun car.

307.63kg's, love the videos guys
Looks like you should space it up as high as possible to give some clearance under that glide and get the primary headers above the control arms. Not going under the bonnet anyhow.
The log manifolds will go well since it will be twin turbo

At a guess 305kg. Another epic build incoming, can't wait.
