Yes I agree, and we have been asking for it, for a couple of seasons without success.
When you lose 3 games by 2 goals, 2 goals and 3 goals, small margins, all to teams you really should be beating means that you just don't want the win badly enough. We are close enough to win these games but we just won't put in the hard yards when needed to get over the line. We have too many passengers that don't step up when needed. In 2022 and 23 we did those hard yards and everyone stepped up. Not this year.

I’m getting tired of this lip service at these press conferences, time to start getting angry and holding players to account. Too much easy transition out of our forward line. So many easy marks from their kick outs. And then at the other end, we have to kick to a contest on 90% of kick ins from their behinds. All this “reflection and learning” “We don’t live in that space” is going nowhere. May be we need to “live in that space”. We will need to go undefeated in the next 6 games to try and get 8th spot. Looking highly unlikely. “We fight to the last second and kick the last goal of the game”, the game was well and truly over, what a load of absolute crap. Time to harden the F up Fly.. Hold them to account. A lot of fancy word smithing, I am not buying any of this BS..
I dont think the coaching has been very good this year. Selecting the wrong players for certain games and every game playing players inthe wrong positions. Being outcoached has cost the team at least 5 wins..

Dude they are stepping up to nothing this season the macfly system has been worked out by other clubs and the depth at Collingwood is very poor.

The players are veering away from the game plan that took us to success with the quick play on, and more direct. They're starting to chip it slow down the line to often, which is what the issue was under Bucks from 2019-2021, that sent us downwards. The fast game, with often play ons, and more direct, with high tackling pressure worked in 2018, 2022 and 23. Whenever the players veer away from that and get lazy and comfortable, and want to just chip down the line, that's when we unfortunately become average and lose games.
Instead of playing with coat hangers they should be concentrating more on winning a game of football😂

The Pies are cracking under injuries to key players. Our system only works when the effort and execution are spot on. Our lack of depth at AFL level has exposed our fragility. Hell, we only just got over the line by a whisker most of last season, AND in the granny. That was our BEST team. This team is a shadow of the premiership line up.
We miss the HELL out of McCreery (always brings forward defensive heat, and kicks goals), Mihocek (superior forward craft, big motor, and kicks goals), Murphy (huge loss. His presence allowed Moore to roam. Now if Moore leaves the backline, it's all midgets), and we've missed Elliot and DeGoey for big chunks.
No excuses for last night. Geelong were better over four quarters. But shit. Collingwood hung tough, but they look a rabble compared to last season.

I was at the MCG watching this game and the Pies center clearances was woeful. When you have guys like the Daicos brothers, DeGoey, Crisp, Pendles and you can't control the ball at center clearances then there is something wrong or they can't read the ball. They days of rebounding from half back and kicking goals are done and dusted. Time they become center clearance team like 2010 premiers. McCrae needs to reinvent himself.
Our forwards just weren’t doing the second effort’s, we also have too many small forwards if your sticking it up to your tall’s make sure they bring it down and get the smalls into the game. We have so many for what?
Unfortunately we haven't any fit tall forwards, Mihocek,Cox,McStay, Begg,Steene, Eyre, a lot to cover

With 6 to 8 key seniors out you can't play the same winning game as last year. However, you should still drop players who are clearly not performing -- a la Frampton, Quaynor, Hill.
Players gave their all in 2023 now in 2024 most are just going through the motion s, expecting it to happen again, but it requires even more now , thsn last year and we ain't getting it

Pies need to learn how to hold on the man that doesn't have the ball ( used to be a holding the man free kick to the one being held, but umpires not paying it now). The last 2 weeks I saw so many players ( especially Daicos ), have to run at the ball get it 1 handed onto their boot or kick it of the ground. Also this week man up at geelong kick ins, they were 1/2 way up the ground before a poscession was contested, yet pies kick ins were contested or risky from the start.
Need a ruck that tips the ball to our players.
Won't be a bad thing to miss the top 8. Have a big pre-season and get some fitness and hunger back.We will see if fly can coach.He came in and everything was wonderful and the players drove the success.Lets see how he leads the club through the adversity.The smiling is off puting after a bad loss.

Moore is not at his best...but he's not horrible. We really are missing Murphy....our backline is getting hammered with repeat quick emtries. When we do manage to go forward, it's eratic and without structure. Our ball use efficiency is at its worst.... Yeah, we are carrying injuries, but we've still got great players....and don't need to keep blooding new guys every 2nd game.
Put some faith in our experience and let our boys play at their best.
I'm mever pne to solely blame a coach for poor performance, but we've got the right guys....the plan and lack of structure is what's killing us.

Darcy Cameron is an elite intercept marker but he is not a ruckman. We’re getting absolutely obliterated out of the middle and at stoppages since Cox went out. Hard to win games when you’re consistently giving up first possession of the ball and have to constantly wrestle just to get it back.
Agreed. Cameron is better around the ground, but Cox is a better tap ruckman.

No good young kids coming through, depth is terrible and a bunch of grandpas running around with an amateur coach who took over the most experienced Collingwood list in the last 72 years. Long road ahead.

At the end of the day, it was our inexperienced players cost us. Not to say that these young guys did not perform, because they did, just mistakes at crucial moments that cost us. The future of the team looks bright as some of our more senior players retire. Without a full compliment of senior players our run home, is going to be difficult, and missing finals is definitely a possibility. GoPies.

Reality has hit home. Too many injuries and lack of talent at the bottom end of the team is Schultz, Marcov, Lipinski. Then we have the kids who aren't ready yet.
Daicos is not a midfielder.When pies got back on track at the start of the season,Nick Daicos went to half back.He is not tough enough and doesn't defend as an inside midfielder.His taggers are having a big impact working off him.I thought he was going to cry when tackled by Dangerfield.Needs to stop chasing stats for a brownlow in the midfield and become damaging off half back to provide run and quality possessions.

@chrisedwards8050, I personally think that if Daicos wasn't in the center, the center clearances against us of late, would be even more one sided. He's our best in there, but I do agree, he needs a bit of time in the gym in the off season, to bulk up a little.

He has had chances this year where he did nothing. No pressure, no goals, no marks. Nothing. Too many chances and he hasn't grabbed them. Kicking 5 goals in one VFL game is not enough to get another chance.
