Okay but that Gohan and Pan interaction actually made me go ‘aww’. He might not be the savage warrior Gohan we all wanted when we were kids, but tbh he’s still the biggest winner by far with a loving family, friends and his dream career.
It works out well for the audience. It took a while for Gohan to develop because of his "only trains/fights when he absolutely has to" background but now he's got a family and he's BY FAR the best father/husband we've seen in the series. Protecting his family at all costs will be more than enough to push him to be the warrior we always wanted him to be. Honestly a very underappreciated character build-up if you ask me. Seeing him rage over Pan's safety in that Super Hero movie just about vaulted him to the top of my favorites list.
I honestly don't mind his whole "only train when I have to" you just gotta learn to let go of it, like that whole fiasco with batman's no killing rule.

I know he hasn't been training those past 7 years but when Gohan is angry it's scary.

Feedback made him continue writing, making the Buu saga, and he soon realized he preferred writing Goku as the protagonist
