I've been following your channel for a very long time. You were always the best at explaining structural and (more specifically) fiberglass issues. Thank you. I learned a lot from you. As an older person in a different field (70 years old) it really is really frustrating when you have the knowledge to pass on, but your body breaks down, and you can't demonstrate it. Hang in there. I'm still pushing forward on things that I have been told I am too old/injured to do. They were wrong, and I am sure that you will work through it too. Best of luck moving forward.
I have been thru what you're going thru medically, your condition will keep improving until one day you will forget what you went thru. Start doing what you can do every day and the healing will follow.
Been following for some time now, mostly for the Alexseal paints. I have done a few boats over the years and have been working on a 29 Blackfin for quite a few years now. Its an on and off project (mostly off recently as life always seem to get in the way). Ive primarily been spraying Imron but im exited to try the Alexseal product this spring on a smaller project, a 17 Rothbilt skiff. I will try to locate some photos of a 25 Bertram Moppie that was completely redone back in the late 90's. I periodically see this boat circulating the internet. Until then, i hope you gain full use of your shoulders and have a Merry Christmas. Keep up the great informative work!
Looking forward to seeing the progress videos again man. I also know some of the frustrations that come from injuries and recoveries getting in the way of things we want to do. Kind of hits you two-fold. Can’t make progress on the projects due to physical setbacks, and that can lead into a bummer mental heath thing due to not making progress on the things you’d like to be doing (hope that makes sense). Anyway, good luck on the shoulder, bud. Keep us posted.
I had my rotator cuff done about 10 yrs ago. All I got was a big rubber band and a rope and pulley and a bunch of instructions. Took about 6 mos and I was back to 90-95%. Don’t know what’s changed for your situation, but not sure on the expectation with PT. You should be able to do it on your own. Prob be more difficult with the first shoulder not being fully recovered. All I was told was to do the exercises 3 times a day and go to the point of pain and no further. Went fine for me.
I've always felt like the gym was for folks that sit in offices all day and deny insurance claims. Good luck with the visits and I hope you heal faster. Glad the old girl is going to get some love.
Was in an on-line debate about the ACA and the affordability - gave similar numbers as you gave being self-employed - was told I was wrong about the numbers, told I was weird and told to shut up. Their is a big disconnect between political ideology and truth.
When laws require insurance companies to cover all people and all medical services which have a 100% risk of occurring, those suffering from rare or catastrophic injury or illness get the shaft. It's grossly anti-actuarial. We are all paying high premiums and high deductables to subsidize things that do not impact us.
Recovery after surgery stinks buddy I broke my back in 2010 I didn't go back to the full-time work until 2019 I've got a question for you I have some boat windows the gasket around the window is shrinking needs to be replaced where do I go to get the molding and how do I do the seams like the videos buddy been a long time subscriber
Most boat manufacturers actually use automotive / camper gaskets. Try hunting around on some of those supply websites :-) Pay close attention to the profile and measurements; there's hundreds of option and they all look very similar lol
I hear ya on medical. Worked for a Fortune 10 company. Medical insurance cost me over $10K/year and had a High Deductible. NO PT Included, Prescription coverage was a joke and I used GoodRX because it saved us so much over using the "Prescription Plan". Insurance forced us to a single pharmacy that didn't actively stock my son's medications so they had to be ordered monthly (no 90 Supply Allowed). I retired from that company 2 years ago, and my wife is retiring next summer from hers. We're mid-50s. We'll have to use the unaffordable care plan come July. We've been told "Be prepared for crazy costs, and horrible coverage"...I actually know people that gambled the last two years before they turned 65 and didn't pay for it, and instead paid the penalty for not taking the insurance....because it was 1/4 what their insurance was going to cost them. That's what happens when you suddenly put $750B of added burden into the system back in 2010...we will be paying for that for ever. :(
I've been saying that same thing! The past few years I haven't used insurance once but was still paying into the system each month. Gotta wonder if I had not had insurance and just banked up the payments I could have paid for the procedures out of pocket and possible been ahead???
Thanks for the update. I admire your restraint with the rant. Best of the season to you and your loved ones.

I love it! A "Cocktail Cruiser" with twin outboards! You'll be the first boat to tie up at the bar dock! Let's go bro!!

Glad you’re feeling somewhat better. Looking forward to more Bertram vids.
Wife just had a shoulder replacement the other day (here in Australia) - so far so good. Good wishes for your full recovery.
Hope she's comfortable and doing well! Thank you :)!

Good update, Andy. I hope your training at the gym helps significantly.

Cheers!
I totally understand your position . Insurance companies are nothing more than a middle man picking peoples pockets .
”Good luck, you are gonna need it”.
Great news!!!
Great news!! Mop that Moppie!
Good luck with the shoulders and I'm dealing with the same insurance company 😔
Blue cross is a joke, sorry to hear that you have to deal with them. I struggle with them for my boys issues.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Auguri e buon Natale e Anno Nuovo.
meglio anche a te!
In Canada all that would cost $0.00. Sure, taxes are a bit higher but nothing close to $30,000.
In Canada he would still be waiting for his first surgery.
Our country’s healthcare system is embarrassing, just driven by greed. Sorry you’ve had to go through that. Hope you continue to get stronger.

Yup, we don't know what we're talking about lol. Basic math doesn't add up like it used to!!

@boatworkstoday okay buddy will do thanks for the information
6 or 7 Christmas trees in the loft??
Yup lol :) Actually have a couple of them plugged in (they have lights built in)!
May be you can work out a deal with your PT and pay cash and get a discount?
The $100 per session is the cash 'discount'. no idea what they would normally bill insurance :-/

They lied to you. Everything applies to your deductible. File a complaint with your states insurance commission.
