Just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. They're super relaxing and I learn new things about Toronto every time! 😄 Keep it up! I'm sharing your channel with all my friends!
I don't know if you remembered to look it up, but I thought I'd write it here for anyone who was curious. @ 39:30, that outdoor setup is actually a parking area with a large screen to watch soccer (and possibly other) games in the nearby stadium(s) since stadiums weren't allowed to have guests when last summer. I rode by there a few times, and it was interesting to see the MLS stadium across Lakeshore all lit up as a game was being played without a single spectator. Then I came across that area full of parked cars all watching and cheering for the game that they were viewing through a large projector from their cars.
Hello, Johnny, I so enjoyed, this video, my husband, and myself, took a sabbatical, one year, and cycled, across Canada to the west coast. Now I just cycle locally. I miss cycling TO. In my day, there were no 'bike lanes'.. How fun ! thnx
@@JohnnyStrides I have been blessed. Life is amazing, please continue. May I say, not many 'bloggers', acknowledge comments, thnx for that, ur well informed about, Toronto's trivia.
Beautiful and well maintained park. Toronto offers a lot of parks and hiking trails. The best of both worlds. Thanks Johnny for the video that's so calming and relaxing in this rather crazy period of our lives.
Your feelings about the poor customer service you received are totally valid. Withdrawal of any further patronage isn’t what I would call ‘holding a grudge’. It was a fairly straight forward business transaction and as you pointed out, their admitting the error would have made all the difference. It’s likely you aren’t the only one that’s been treated this way, so that business will suffer. Acknowledging the problem gives them the opportunity to correct it and potentially keep a good customer. (My best friend of 50 years lives in the Bloorcourt neighbourhood on Davenport and we spoke on the phone yesterday about the new bike lane and she’s also delighted about it). Also, please do whatever you can to ensure your knee is fully recovered before you take on another challenging ride. (Of course you know what you’re doing, but I speak from my own experience and I thought my knee was ok, but permanent damage from a skiing incident at Mont-Tremblant proved me wrong). As always, a very entertaining video with a few ‘yikes!’ moments, because of careless people. Thankfully, there aren’t many of them.
Thanks Vera! It just irks me that they would do that and not give the impression they're the least bit sorry about that. That's great about your friend, if more biking infrastructure gets more people out on their bikes that's a great thing! A lot of people don't like to ride on the major roads without proper bike lanes so hopefully your friend can better enjoy and experience the city this way! There's always going to be those yikes moments... but at the end of summer I'll put them together into a compilation video so that should be some fun at least :)
Thanks for the preview of the status of the Bloor West bike lanes and for depicting my neighbourhood (High Park) so wonderfully! I love the weekend park and Lakeshore closures SO much and am thrilled they're going till October!!
Hi Johnny what's up..seems like all is blending pretty chilled and easy! this was on the reeeal a bravo 👏 awesume year ago throwback cycling stream from last 2020 ( I bet that ole bike sold on kijiji) lol I would still keep it hahah! weather sure good that day I kow ppl were desperate to come out of this pandemic and vaccines at yome were slowed being processed to international community. at 13:00 wen you ride east along actif TO raute past olg Soundstage was drive in theatre that time...and at 8:24 good view of cn tower by queenquay west opposite omni TV stn..bye
damn you biked all the way to Mississauga the most I biked was going north from Dufferin and Steeles then taking a right on 15th Sideroad (basically next to Seneca King College) and then another right all the way down to Bathurst and Steeles. The up hills and down hills on Dufferin when you are up north is absolutely insane and would never do that ride again. My favourite ride that I did was biking from G Ross Lord park to Pearson airport and it was a nice chill ride :) I recommend you ride through the Finch Hydro Recreational Trail. It's a pretty cool paved trail that goes on for a good amount of time even passing jane and finch. If you want to go through the entire station, start from Finch Subway Station (right next to Finch pick up and drop off) and end at Norfinch and Finch Ave :D
Yeah, I did that on the single speed lol but paid the price with a sore left knee... probably just pushed myself too far. You're right about those hills on Dufferin. I am planning on some sort of ride to Pearson this year, perhaps from Union? As for your hydro fields ride suggestion, that is a great ride! I recorded that last year :) ruclips.net/video/DGJsmnl0isY/видео.html
I've always enjoyed hybrids too. My bike is essentially the same as one except I put on skinny road tires (which you can do on a hybrid) and have no gears lol I hope I can pick up another one for winter.
Great narrative ride Johnny 👍 Canada has so many parks you can just choose one to have a relaxing day with a nice picnic basket thanks once again for this wonderful vlog entertaining as usual 🥰 I hope the guy did not hurt himself too bad but it seems like he was on his phone🤔
It would indeed! I am more of a fan of upright bikes in the city and would probably go with some bar ends over the drop bars but am looking to get back into road bikes for next spring. Then I'll have 3!
I can't understand why I like so much following you around, doing a route that I do myself regularly (the part on lake shore). I live in Etobicoke, i have been as far as Marie Curtis Beach, near Long Branch. I never been further west towards port credit. so I will keep my eyes open, maybe you'll do the trip before I do. thank you.
Well I'm glad you do! Is there any route that you think might make interesting to see me do here? I went to Marie Curtis on Saturday :) Port Credit is not that much further by bike...
@@JohnnyStrides I was there too Saturday morning with a new bike club called gyaldemridecollective from instagram, it was a lot of fun . Anyway if Port Credit is too close so can you show us a route further West? Also thank you for your comments during the videos, that make the trip even more interesting.
42:18-Back in the '80's in some U.S. jurisdictions, laws were passed to penalise anybody riding a bike while listening to their Sony Walkman with headphones on and at full blast.
I went with a heavy-duty self-sealing tube in my back tire because of the weight of mine Electric bike being close to 4 5 pounds. I also went from a Schrader valve to a traditional valve stem to keep cost down and I'm considering using that heavy-duty self-healing tube on my front as well , it's good reassurance. Just used a wide flat head screwdriver to bore a larger hole in the rim . Check out my bike on my channel if you want. Looks like our city may have to put up some barriers too. 👍Thanks bro.
I took Lakeshore east into Long Branch then I went north on 30th St (I think..) to Horner then east to Kipling Ave then from there straight north up to the station. That was a heck of a ride in itself!
The guy that didn't look opening the car door at the start of the video, what douche... Pretty typical though, a lot of people exist in their own little worlds most of the time, no thought or compassion for others. He would have definitely got a loud "wtf" from me...
Yeah, I fully agree. I'm usually a lot more vocal about those things when the camera isn't rolling... I don't know why that is I guess it's the pretend nice guy shtick. Oblivious/selfish asshole behaviour needs to be called out when it interferes with the safety of others.
Nice tour as always. as for chinese consulate.. where 99% of my random chinese speaking scam calls come from, well... at least that is what the phone numbers are spoofed as and I am not even Chinese. Just felt like saying that... Anyways. Cheers! One more thing... that RV just after St George is there a lot. Random comment.
Interesting observations. I haven't noticed that but maybe I'll see if that's the number being spoofed on my spam calls. DHL or Canada Revenue is always trying to call me in Mandarin for some reason lol
@@JohnnyStrides Well there are a lot of calls without caller ID, when I google the numbers (chinese speaking spam), Google return many returns that are in Chinese, even tho numbers aren't in the result. Funny how that work. Either way... I block it.
Hey Johnny Why don't stand off to the side at york and queen's quay and COUNT and VIDEO how many cyclists go THROUGH RED LIGHTS in one day. If I'm walking along on the weekend...300 would be the average amount of cyclists going through RED LIGHTS. And God help the driver who wants to go through on a GREEN light...THEY KICK HIS CAR.
I don't disagree that there are people behaving badly on bikes... but the reality is 40 people a year die on average from bad drivers in this city, 0 die from bad cyclists. We should all be encouraging safety and adhering to the rules of the road... but it's very obvious where the public safety issues truly lie in this city (it's not really the bikes...).

Indeed Toronto does, that's easily one of its strongest features!
I’m a simple guy. I see Johnnys video I hit the like button and enjoy the video
I appreciate the simplicity! ;)
Beautiful City. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thank you and greetings! I'd love to ride a bicycle in your country!
wow what a beautiful park, wish we have that here, thanks for showing that
You're welcome Richard! Where are you that there's no nice large parks?

A cyclocross bike would be good for wet days, drop bars and plenty of gears. Disc brakes.

I still have my Canada's Wonderland season's pass from 1985.
Wow, I hope you got lots of rides in on SkyRider!
Was that a wind turbine at about 36:00? Great ride. Take care of that knee!
Thanks Robert! Yes, indeed it was. It's been there for a very long time now. As for the knee, I'm staying off the bike today :)
