Yews are great...... That's it! 😂😂😂😂😂
I laughed and loved it, no sugar coatings.I'm done.
Plant Amnesty: You can take a chainsaw to it. Lmbo
Probably a good idea to mention they are poisonous
can you describe how to prune columnar Yews? Mine have spayed out .
Yews look amazing in the wintertime with plops of snow on them. Looks just like a Christmas card!
Tell us something about period of pruning.
Hello! I inherited some very overgrown Yews that are located in the front of a home I bought. I'd REALLY like to take a hedger to it and cut it back and also raise the canopy of it (some have grown quite close to the ground!) but it appears that the previous owner attempted to cut one of the bushes back and what's left are twigs! Lot's and lots of twigs that will not (have not) regrown green Yew foliage! I notice that if I part the Yew's, the foliage is only a few inches into the plant and then naked limbs are attached. So to me, that give me the indication that I'm stuck with overgrown bushes or twigs should I decide to cut it back (and a few have grown slightly into the walkway which grazes people as they walk towards the front door! Not good!) So, am I doomed? Can these bushes not be cut back without leaving leafless limbs/twigs? And as for raising the canopy of the hedge, is that even possible? I can't even SEE the limb structure!
Just what I needed to know. I haven't trimmed mine in a while and they have grown out a bit. So I just trimmed them back. The front looks ugly without it being lush and green but hopefully it won't take long to green out. At least by next spring. I always worry about trimming a bush and it never grows back. Fingers crossed.🤞😊
Sending this to my aunt ASAP!
Great start for me. I have 1 Yew in my front area and it looks like the gardener just shaves it once in a while. I have no idea what to do with it since it is placed in an area (maybe 10 x 12) with two standard hydrangea plants, a hardy hydrangea and a climbing rose...all a few years old. I see no balance in the space but i think the neighborhood would come after me if i removed any of them. Looking for all suggestions to be able to visualize. Thanks!
i know Im quite off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream newly released series online?
this seems like it would take for eva to to prune all those bushes
Not only indestructible but some species are very toxic to the touch.
yews
It would be really helpful if you could provide a text version of this presentation for those who are deaf or hard of hearing . . . .

Hello, I have just cut a lot of the yews we have in front of our home and it looks deformed! It was the first time I have ever cut it and I didn't know how much I should have cut! so I cut maybe around 5' and I clearly messed up unfortunately!!! My question is if there are any ways to make it grow faster so that it blends with the other ones ASAP! Please msg me back and if you need pictures I can maybe send it to you via email. Thank you :)
I swear you sound like Aretha Franklin's speaking voice! Are you from Detroit?
So helpful thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for this, very helpful.
Help!! Why are my cone shaped yew needles turning yellow on the inside and falling off?!!😬
Hi Dianne, depending on where you live, we can send you referrals for certified arborists who can diagnose your Yew. If you live outside of the King County, WA area, contact your local branch of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA.ORG)
Hey! You sound like Jim Carrey aka "The JuiceWeasel"
I just identified Canada yews through a plant app. It mentioned that they are dangerous? Any thoughts on this?
Yews have deadly poison in all its material excluding seeds. Although it seems dangerous, there are plenty more deadly poisonous plants in the wild if you look enough for them
Brilliant....make videos on everything!!! 💪🏼
thank you for the video. what variety is featured in the video?
I have the same hand pruners
uh-oh, wish I had seen this before I took the chain saw to the 4 overgrown monsters I had in my front yard.
+Linda Hartman Did they grow back?
Alas, they did not. I think I went too far. I've been replacing them with coneflowers, bee balm, some thin grasses for a softer look. It's a real change up from what all the neighbors have. My white with yellow center rhond. did come back after a cut back of 1/3 and looks terrific!! Thank you for your help and info. Happy Spring!
I am about to take on my giant yews. Perhaps I should only give them a haircut and selectively cut a few thicker branches halfway down. Eventually to half their height, currently six foot tall.
Fantastic advice.
I didn't plant the dang things, I dont have any attachment to them, hedge trimmer all day long. I don't want to spend that much time with it.
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssss!
