    A rule of thumb I have on this channel is that I am not loyal to any one platform, my entire goal is to talk honestly about the updates, changes, and way platforms are evolving. Twitch released a series of updates, some good, and some bad. Let's talk about how they're trying to compete you RUclips.... oh and no, I am not going to cover drama updates on this channel unless I feel creators can learn something of value to make them a better creator from it.

    Something Dr K from HealthyGamer said at twitchcon that has really stuck with me: "Platforms will always simply give you the data that is easiest for them to give you, not what is the most useful or relevant to you." Even more specific data requires a lot of context and wisdom to actually pull relevant lessons or actionable tasks from.

    I used to have streamelements alerts for my first 2 years of streaming, now after changing my direction of my channel in a major way, I moved over to twitch alerts that are way less intrusive than the ones I had before. Twitch really made it user-friendly and I give them my thumbs up for that.
    However... the ads were getting on my nerve. I have decided to switch to pre-roll ads only, while during my breaks, i would play a long ad to disable pre-roll for an hour. I hated being stuck by a 30 or 60min schedule of being "forced" to do a break so people don't miss out on content. Now, I can also give the audience who are already watching my stream have a better experience. I'm glad they brought the preview back :)

    You're just the best, I appreciate the timeliness of your videos so much. I had just downloaded some vods to comb through for clips to share in short format (I am the worst about getting clips) and wondered if I should have used the new clip converter, but after seeing this video, I'm so glad I didn't bother. I'll just edit them in my own editing software as originally planned. I also haven't checked out the alerts yet, but I really like what I saw here, so maybe I'll switch from using the SE ones to the Twitch ones instead. Thanks for always being on top of Twitch updates!

  • @inouji

    Honestly for clip editing, I just resorted to using my video editing software instead of some dumbed-down online editor. Sure, combo is great for a quick edit here and there - and definitely the best site out there - but it is still a lot more limited than what I want and it also bugged out on me quite a few times. Learning to make clips by myself was definitely a slow process in the beginning, but after a few months, I've got the workflow down and have set up a lot of templates that cut the time I spend down by a good deal.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  Год назад +4

      I think you've misunderstood.
      Obviously you should use actual editing software, but beginners don't have that privilege to start with it, so this tool helps them to learn while they build up to it.

    • @inouji
      @inouji Год назад +4

      @@StreamScheme Fair point. I think you should include things like that in the actual video, though. People promoting tools like Combo (which is good) and calling it super powerful (which it is), while not even mentioning the more powerful, but complicated tools in at least an addendum, might cause new creators to rely too heavily on them and get stuck.
      If there's one thing I've taken away from your channel since I started 10 months ago, it's that you should never stop learning and improving.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  Год назад

      @@inouji On a normal video about short form I would, but if its a video comparing online clip converters that are being released, or about how to do it as a beginner, I don't see the need often.

  • @Th_Lad_Klaus
    @Th_Lad_Klaus Год назад

    As a growing creator myself, I really like the clip converter cause I'm still learning how to edit, but my main issue with it is that it only lets you use clips. When I am streaming, I'm not making sure I clip things to use later nor are my viewers. So, I usually go back and make highlights, but the clip converter doesn't allow you to make highlights into shorts, which sucks.

  • @macmorven
    @macmorven Год назад

    hi, you missed that our best quality clips of other streamers will die off
    and that twitch is bull marketing the ad-free option.
    we no longer can download clips of other streamers for editing
    so production of highlight clips by viewers falls to a new low in quality.
    ad-free users will discover small streams easier
    while they also lose the inclination to subscribe because of ads.
    so subs for small streamers may drop off...
    but they will get new pennies from ad-free revenue share.
    thanks for this video:
    small streamers can benefit from the use of alerts and new tutorials on it.

    This is a desperation move and nothing more, because they got caught implementing a policy that is bad for everyone and not only that, Kick is actually doing what twitch should be doing.
    However kick on the other hand will not be in a good position if they don't capitalize on this.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  Год назад +1

      This is completely incorrect.
      All these updates came out BEFORE the policy changed, and they take moths to build.
      Kick are not doing a single thing better than twitch or RUclips.
      If you think Kick is at all a viable option, then I’m more worried about that.
      Since ya know, it has no discovery and less viewers than every other platform, worse tools, worse tech, and sponsors refuse to work with it.

    • @CreateNowSleepLater
      @CreateNowSleepLater Год назад +1

      @@StreamScheme kind of agree. Kick is already worlds better of a streaming experience than RUclips. It’s viability is based on 2 things, 1) it’s backed by gambling (twitch still allows gambling too but banned specific sites). 2) Kick still uses the same aws services Twitch does without the overhead of running Twitch or reporting revenue to the Amazon insect overlords. So the Twitch people are running those ads because Amazon is making them. When Twitch wants to do anything for the creator, they have to beg Amazon to essentially Rob Peter to pay Paul. Kick doesn’t need to do any of this. Plus, Amazon could care less. They don’t care if kick does well, they get paid either way. Want proof? They would have kicked them off aws. Amazon bought twitch specifically to farm out the twitch stream experience as a service. Anyone can be twitch now. RUclips already gave up improving streaming. They went all in on shorts and now podcasts. Their streaming experience is garbage.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  Год назад +3

      I appreciate the reply but trust me I’m aware of AWS and the gambling, these aren’t wins for Kick.
      I’m concerned as well because you said they went all in on shorts, but seem to have missed the updates they’ve done that openly connect shorts to lives.
      The experience I’ve used hasn’t been garbage, it’s just been different to twitch, and after using it a bit I prefer it immensely.
      RUclips has better tech than kick and twitch now, better discovery because any short view while your life has a big red circle saying live now, browse traffic, search traffic, scheduled streams on your homepage are front and centre with a big “remind me”
      The only thing that needs work is how the chat flows, otherwise I haven’t found a single reason twitch or kick are better than RUclips.
      Any update RUclips makes that helps creators grow an audience, helps their streaming tools, and because they chose a different route to help streamers on here grow, people seem to misunderstand how powerful it is.

    • @m3tr0id86
      @m3tr0id86 Год назад

      @@StreamScheme Yeah, but if there comes a time Kick gets people that know what needs to be done to make it much better. On top of that, Twitch losing four people in one way or another is not good. Dr. Disrespect got completely fucked over by Twitch and they have not been transparent about it, even to this day. Ninja has gotten tired of their shit, Amouranth has also jumped ship, which I cant stand her, but she knows how to she plays the game and she played Twitch like a violin and cut their strings when there was a better opportunity. xQc from an article mentions that he has moved on to Kick for a 9 figure deal. So Twitch has lost some major money makers.
      All in all, you, me and everyone else are just a drop in the bucket on Twitch and as top heavy as Twitch is, especially with the hypocritical ToS they do have, as long a Kick plays their hand right and knows where not to fuck up having more than enough info to use as learning examples and they do what they have to improve, Twitch is going to be in a heap of trouble regardless of what you or I think. Unless someone like George Soros get's involved, Twitch has to find a way to make real money and soon.
      I am not trying to defend Kick, or have a huge hate boner for Twitch, but I am looking at the writing on the wall. If Twitch does not clean house and actually enforce and reform some of the rules and other aspects that has really tarnished their reputation and keeps screwing us over for just mere words, it's not a question of "if", but "when".

I've been looking for good reasons to leave for years which was why I went to mixer(beam) for awhile. Sadly, it went away and now I'm back on twitch. Listening to a lot of your other content over the last year, and twitch being twitch, I decided to cut my live streams down from 5 to 2 for twitch. Do 1 stream a week on youtube, and then spend my other 2 days working on long form content, scripts, clips, edits, etc. I've been cutting and setting clips aside so I can release about 2 a day and then we're almost ready to start releasing long form content on youtube.
    For me the clip editor is a joke. Like you pointed theres better stuff out there that does it right. Joincombo was great when it was free, but now they limit you on how many you can make per month/week or something before needing a membership.
    Eklipse gg is a good tool as well, though its mostly designed around FPS games, it still works great as an AI bot clipper that can also edit and upload. Though, it isn't as free as joincombo is. Its gimmick is really about its AI tools working well for games like fortnite, valorant, apex, cod, etc. But I've been content using it for Totk/botw.

      @@StreamScheme that is fair. But I don't really have much risk of ending my career when I don't have a large stream viewerbase (ergo it didn't even start), so I'll just see how it goes in the future.

      @@CrimeNetArchive As I always say, it's just about diversifying.
      You'll still need to create content on TikTok and RUclips to get viewers on Kick, since it it has no foot traffic or discovery.
      So as long as you spread out, and work hard, doesn't matter on the platform.

      I couldn't imagine basing my decisions as a small creator on what people so large its impossible for them to fail do, especially people not creating or pushing themselves to the next level but are simply looking for the largest pay out on their audience they've built before it was too difficult to grow.

    After five years of grinding away on twitch. Just under 400 followers. And twitch would not even pay me £50. They owed me. After months of emails, I deleted twitch I am done with that service. RUclipsrs, much better. It would be nice if kick comes to consoles, then I can stream straight to kick.

      I mean anymore moving to Kick right now isn’t doing it because it’s the right move, they’re doing it because they’re desperate and don’t understand the platform is far worse than twitch.

    The end of the day twitch is still garbage. no matter how much they want to frame the conversation why are streamers leaving twitch. you're heading to RUclips and other platforms to stream and also taking their communities with them. Considering how out-of-touch and totally tone-deaf. Twitch is a joke. Wonder why people are laughing at twitch because of how they treat the streamers and content creators on the platform. When other platforms like RUclips pay their streamers and creators substantially a lot better then twitch does. Plus telling people that they're not allowed to multi-stream to other platforms like RUclips essentially creating a "DIGITAL IRON CURTAIN" that is a counter-productive and and detrimental two creators and streamers growth.

      This comment feels like you've not really watched my channel before, because you know my rule is to cover the good, the bad, and explain how to use it, no matter the platform.
      Educating Creators to make choices themselves, rather than pushing my beliefs on them without other options.
      Sure, I left Twitch, but doesn't mean I'm going to stop educating people on all the different options for them.

    The alert tool I had a lot of fun with. Some of the gifs are good too. Shorts editing is my next plan, I want to start creating shorts of my streams, since I try to go the route of doing stuff in game that is recreatable by others, let’s you google “Build X in Forza” and a short will come up, at least that’s my plan!

    just started my tiktok today and I will say I do enjoy the editing system on the app. I fumbled with it at first but after editing a couple of videos on it it finally clicked. Personally I haven’t done much editing other then the basic stuff you get with iPhones so I am greener then baby feces but I’m hoping I can find a good editing software for shorts AND longform content
