@@HBPowerwall can’t beat the live monitoring. Solis and the other Chinese manufacturers need to take a leaf out of myenergi books. No need to send the data to a server in China & back. Cheers.
Cheers for putting this up. I was looking at another system to do the same thing. It kinda makes me want to look into this further and doing some maths on getting one installed to make my off peak smaller. Only a hot water heater for me however.
So glad I helped, going to do a two week update so you & others can see usage after a short period the app makes it a tool I don't want to live with out. I can see in winter i'll be invaluable. Now if only the unit had an external temp sensor you could attach to your HWS just so I can tell in advance how enjoyable my shower will be!
It’s good to see some of your ideas and what you do. You’re local, have been doing this for years and have a vested interest in this. Your data will be great given our climate is the same. I’d just need to see what happens in the next few months. Your experience will be great. Especially given I export around 13-8kw a day after my (small) home battery is charged. I will have to go back through your videos to see what happened to your old one.
Yeh exporting sucks hehe, if your local and you want a proper look reach out, Nothing wrong with the old one still going strong, just didn't have the ability to connect to the new Zappi
I have a similar thing to heat the water in my hot water tank. My hot water gets heated by either an immersion in the water tank or an oil fired boiler. (I'm in rural UK). My immersion heater only activates when I'm exporting, come May I can turn my oil fired boiler off and all our hot water will come from solar power all the way until the start of October. I save on electricity and oil all because of one of those devices. They are great. Up until last summer I used to leave the boiler on and we would need to fill the oil tank roughly every 12 months, with the prices now it would be £1000 a year to do so. I've skipped a year of needing to fill the oil up! So it's basically saved me £1000 in a year lol
Hi I have a zappi and a thinking of getting the eddi. I have a heat pump. Ecogeneca Brand. What hot water system do you have. As I was trying to get info from myenerei but was difficult. Thanks Alan Sydney
It needs to be a hws with an heating element - they can vairy how much power you send them from 10w to 3600watts - a heat pump is a constant supply so won't work.
Why is the new Eddi not the latest one with internal hub and two antennas? You didn't need to swap the old Eddi out, all you had to do was install a separate hub, surely? You seem to have wasted some money there to me.
old Eddi didn't connect to the newer hub, it was a very old unit - now they have another WIFI version it would have been better again. That said, the new setup is OUTSTANDING, the savings are incredible!
The first eddi will only communicate with the hub and other devices on 868MHz which is used for UK and Europe. We cannot legally use devices on 868MHz in Australia, we have to use 915MHz. This version and the in-built hub can switch between frequency by changing the time zone.

THANK-YOU David that put a smile on my face!

That's an insane saving! Well done!
same here, we have two hot water tank that get heat by the exported electricity, a simple switch to do this rather than the diverter, last longer too

the sparky doesn't want to be filmed?
ah yes,
i would not trust that sparky anymore if he is that insecure in his skills.
He turned out to be a good bloke, just old school I guess. Told me the same thing the last guy said... YOU NEED to update your switch board hehe
It's not about being insecure in his skills lol, some people just don't want to be all over the internet
@@readmore7180
yeah, like he maybe already has too much work and absolutely does not want more.
@@ursodermatt8809 quite possibly yes.
