I fast for 16 hours daily, and it has cut down on my time before going to work in the morning since I don 't have to make breakfast and since I don't have to sit down to eat it. The health benefits have come more slowly, but this benefit was immediately noticeable. Many thanks for a great video!

Definitely less hunger throughout the 8 hour “feeding window”. Sometimes to the point where I have to force myself to eat so I can ensure I’m getting the right amount of calories, protein, fibre etc. I’m always hungry for my break fast meal ...but I have a hard time fitting three meals in throughout the day.

I started IF last year and lost 10 lbs over the course of a few months and felt awesome. Unfortunately, I took a break from IF over the winter and am having a hard time dropping the weight using IF like I had a year ago. Do you have any advice or tips on getting your body back into IF? I know you suggested a collagen protein powder, but there is not flavored options, and I’m not really interested in vegan protein powder. Any suggestions???

Hi, I've been watching your videos for a while and I love them! I've always been in a cycle of gaining-losing weight for more than 5 years and I am 21 now. I have re-gained a little and I have been trying to lose it back for more than a month but there's like no change. On the scale it gets up and down every week. I do intermittent fasting but I don't see changes. It's never been this hard to lose weight for me. I feel like my metabolism is damaged, is that possible? And mentally I am always scared to lose weight, feel bad when I eat something I shouldn't and when I don't exercise. What can I do? I can't seek professional due to family issues. 😟 All I want is a body I can feel confident in and not be scared of food. I have to lose fat and gain muscle. I feel like all these years all I did was damaging myself.

It gets better around 20 hours. I feel euphoric and a large boost of strength. I workout generally around hour 22 and the full body pump is incredible...the glucose and glycogen have been pretty much depletedand by that time of day and I'm using pure fat for fuel. I eat right after my workout and focus on protein. On a rare occasion if still hungry I'll eat a snack before bed, but generally no.

Very nice. I do enjoy a fast every once in a while. So much less worry about what I'm going to eat next.
Hundreds of years ago, and for tens of thousands of years we didn't have food all day every day. Our bodies are tuned to NOT eating all the time.
I find that if I don't eat anything first thing in the morning I'm just not hungry at all until at least mid-day, if then. And even then it's only mild.
Until I start eating again and then it seems I can't get enough!
Is that why 'breakfast is your most important meal of the day'? Because it kicks off your daily appetite?

Yes absolutely. In fact, you can also simply take a pinch of salt along with water. It's really just a personal preference. Some of my clients strongly dislike the experience of "salty water", so an electrolyte replacement that dissolves more efficiently in water (and disperses the "salty flavor" a bit better) works best for them. However, if you enjoy using salt and it works for you, then that's perfect as well!

I struggle some with the timing. I'm trying to get a full 16hrs IF in each day with 3hrs 45 minutes between my 3 meals. But the timing doesn't add up because there's also the time I need to actually eat my meals. I feel like I'm already rushing as it is and it takes me 15-20 min to eat. Unless I just keep pushing back my eating window every day, I end up with anywhere from 14.5-16hrs IF each day. How do people get a full 16hrs, and 3 meals a day that are about 4hrs apart, and have time to eat said meals, too? And does anyone else feel like they're watching the clock all the time with trying to keep everything perfectly timed? Which is more important - the full 3hrs 45min between meals or the whole 16hr of IF? Thanks for the videos and info Autumn! ❤️

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  3 года назад +1

Hi Morel! That's a really great question - if using IF, the exact 3 hours 45 minutes isn't as necessary because there is already a fasting period. I've gone more specifically into the details of this in a livestream and I believe it was this one: ruclips.net/video/HgRin8qxhYg/видео.html
But this would also be a great question to ask at my next livestream, too!

I’m not an expert at all, but I just do two meals with my 16 hour fast. I’m a petite 50 year old woman, though, so I easily can eat enough in those two meals, especially if I incorporate protein powder into something. Sometimes I will have a snack - usually either something fatty like an avocado or macadamia nuts, or else a green smoothie with protein powder if I need more protein - and usually berries to sweeten. I keep that small snack kind of low carb (though I don’t do keto).

    • @AutumnBates

Hi Amy! It depends on what they mean by IF - if they mean extended fasts, then I would agree that long term use of that won't allow you to get your nutrient needs in. However, in regards to true Intermittent Fasting, I have a video that discusses this here: ruclips.net/video/_YGbMAiVVIs/видео.html

Anyone Claiming IF is Bad for your Health is Clueless, but that shouldn't be a surprise when if you found them on Instagram. As for Magnesium, just take a Magnesium Supplement daily to ensure you're getting enough. Magnesium Supplements are very cheap and they're a great way to ensure you're never deficient.

This is awesome!🤗 There are many Christians benefites for fasting and prayering as well; 😍💖If you are a Christian you should make a video of the benefits of fasting from the Bible.😇 Just my opinion, but other than that great video. 🌪➕🕊

Hi! There are some people who do better with a 20 hour fast, however the main issue with a longer fast is getting in enough nutrients to maintain muscle mass (namely protein). I go into this with this video: ruclips.net/video/JNbXBlRKx6A/видео.html

You should definitely aim for 20-22hr Fast because most of the Benefits "Start" Kicking in at 16-18hrs. So if you're only Fasting for 16hrs, you stop Fasting immediately after the Benefits begin.

How much of calories should we consume during the 8 hour eating window?

All of them (your daily needs)

    • @CynthiaRaeC

Autumn doesn't talk about how many calories we should consume; she focuses on how much protein and fat is beneficial and supports our goals. I would suggest searching her videos for how much protein we need every day. Also, I highly recommend just watching a bunch of her videos - you'll get a great picture of how and what she suggests we eat during our eating window.

If you prefer salt (as I mentioned in the video) then that's a great option as well! However, some of my clients prefer using an electrolyte replacement that dissolves better. And if you plan on using an electrolyte replacement vs. salt, it's important to at least make sure you're getting the necessary sodium (which unfortunately most electrolyte replacements are lacking completely). Either way, go for what works for you and balancing your electrolyte levels.
