- Husband and wife duet! My wife Sarah and I decided to sing this beautiful hymn together. It was a real joy to work on this with her. Please let us know in the comments if you'd like to hear us sing more hymns! (Either way, I will continue to post guitar music).
For the longest time I really struggled to sing in tune (it was pretty bad!). Fortunately, God gave me a wife who could sing and so we toured together for several years with her singing and me playing guitar. We toured full time in a travel trailer spending a lot of our life on the road. This was a great adventure when our boys were little but as they started to grow up, we felt like they needed more stability. Sarah and the boys stopped traveling and I started just going out on the weekends and doing concerts. The problem with this was that I lost my singer! After much prayer and some encouragement from others, I decided to make an attempt at learning to sing. I worked hard and did a lot of study on how to overcome my problems as a singer. It's a work in progress but I just wanted to share this as an encouragement for some of you that may feel like you don't have a good voice. You can learn! There are some great voice teachers on RUclips and practice (and some creative problem solving) can help you improve. Besides, singing really isn't about sounding impressive but it's about praising God with a "joyful noise".
Sarah and I went full time with our music ministry in 2013. There have been a lot of twists and turns along the way, but we've seen the Lord do some amazing things. This was beautiful. This is inspired sincerity. Josh your guitar music has always been precious. This duet is a sweet accent on a God-blessed-channel. You (Josh) sing within your own known constraints (even as you grow) and your wife, a tremendous vocalist, harmonizes lovely. You, like the steady, sturdy shade tree and your wife like the wind blowing gently through your branches. And we get to rest quietly in the shade and be caressed in the simple ambience created by a holy, treasured, honestly rendered, hymn. Keep singing!

This is beautiful beyond words! Excellent job - Josh and Sarah; your singing is spiritually encouraging. Please keep doing this. Moreover, it's hard to find the old and classic hymns being sung this way (they are usually a choir singing) and so I believe you have a much-needed area to minister in.

I LOVE IT. God bless you two. We live in a commercially packaged world, where food at the store looks good, but what nutrition do we sacrifice for the appearance? Our music is little different it seems. I listen to your playing, and now your singing (!!) and I feel like I have gotten homemade meals from gardens and farms, wholesome and fresh. It is nourishing to the soul rather than the body. And, in my 30 years in church I never recall hearing this hymn. It is an instant favorite.
That said, let me encourage you to do more duets. Who knows, perhaps you'll have another album out of it. ❤✝
We are also big believers in the value of home-grown food from healthy soil. Thanks for your comment, it means a lot to us as we are preparing to do more recordings like this. I know they won't be a "commercial success" but we feel like it is something that we need to do.

This is the type of video I would love to use in our worship with a small donation. Has vocals, words and is a public domain song. Finding this combination can be tricky. And besides all that, the harmony and sound is beautiful! I am the Tech administrator at our church and I work hard to find "legal" music to have in our Covid time services.
