The river Piribebuy flows through the town of Piribebuy in Paraguay and many years ago a dam was built across it to protect the town from flooding.
This dam was built in 1942 and stood until the 1980s when it was washed away during the storm.
These days there is another dam on the river in the centre of town and this when it's gates are closed forms the town swimming pool.
The old dam is located up river of the new one on the very edge of town and apart from the occasional local visitor on a summer weekend looking for a peaceful place to bathe is largely forgotten. A very quiet little spot.
Another of those spots in Paraguay that does not appear in any guide books but that is well worth a visit.

Hi Simon, thank you for your beautiful videos of Paraguay. May i ask if the 5000 dollars into a local bank allows for temporary residency?

@@Nichefan Thanks. With the residency the system changed a couple of years ago so the cash deposit is no longer required

@simonsparaguay Thabk you for getting back to me. So how does one attain a temporary residency, as far as I can see it's only 90 days then you have to leave the country. Also may I ask thr cost on empenadas there? Thank you very much for your time.

@Nichefan You will find the list of what's needed on embassy websites. Basically it's some paperwork from over there and then some from here. It is a fairly straight forward process if everything is in order. Possible to do it yourself but most people get an agent who knows the system to do it for them. Getting paperwork done only takes 2 or 3 days. Then in approx 90 days you should get temp residency and can apply for id card. Then in 2 years can apply for permenant residency. And empanadas, you will get a decent one for 50c
