Syrus’s Life Force trap would actually be so freaking good to have. Paying 400 to dodge an attack and isn’t once per turn? Hell ya. I’d rather take 800 damage than take a full OTK
Could also be a good way to activate cards that go off when you take damage. Like yeah you took 400pts of damage, but its better then 1500pts or more. I could see people getting use out of the card. Though that being said, some people im sure would say " why would i take some damage when I could take no damage and proc a different effect, and i feel like this would be a case by case basis kinda card. Like maybe something you side deck.
To answer the question about Power Load and muti-attack effects..... when Zane used it, it provided more then 800 ATK despite Zane only having 2 other monsters out, because one of them was the Multi-attacking Chimeratech Overdragon.
Genius play honestly. Plus the fact they activate their effects by destroying themselves resembles how hard Syrus is on himself, as well as how his anxiety and support pushed him to rebuild himself as a better duelist.
So far, it's helped me group the cards a bit better than how I tackled Duel Monsters, which in my opinion was a mess 😅 And it will also make for some fun episodes in the future
@@burblebineabbletv well I'm glad you could tidy it up but please bro I'm begging you to bring me on for the food cards they've been living in my head rent free for three years
@@burblebineabbletv I think I actually enjoyed the old format more! But on that case, I may be the outlier. And if this makes it easier for you to personally organize and keep your own thoughts straight, I totally understand.
If 2005 me had seen Cyber Dragon's effect I think my jaw would have hit the floor. That card really was the end of "caveman yugioh" (you could also argue the Envoys were as well)
This has always been interesting to me. I think no matter what era you started playing the game, there is always that one card or archetype that makes you realize that the game is changing in a big way. And Cyber Dragon stands a pinnacle of 'Meta Warping'
As someone who was there from the beginning, Cyber Dragon really was the first clue to me and many others in my circle that we were entering an entirely new era of Yu-Gi-Oh!.
I think what helped is that, even for the players who didn't understand that life points don't matter and card advantage is everything, it's easy to see why Cyber Dragon is good.
I think you were a bit mean to Mirror Damage by just ignoring its obvious intended purpose of deflecting the self damage caused by the negative draw backs of Power Bound.
That is actually NOT what Time Fusion does. This must be a mistranslation but the original effect has no prerequisite of a fusion monster being destroyed. You banish a card from your hand to special summon a fusion monster from your extra deck ignoring its summoning conditions next turn but it can't attack on the turn it was summoned. It's an amazing card.
the effect shown in this video and on the wiki are probably based on the text shown on it in the japanese version, but the way it was shown to work is more in line with how you said it does.
@@Sanguivore that it does. I'm going to do a rewatch again then hit everything from the ovas like Samurai X and the live action movie before watching the reboot.
Actually wouldn't dark computer virus actually be somewhat broken? Like if they tried to target one of their monsters with a continuous spell you could use dark computer to change the target to mess up their plays weather it by using the effect on a monster they were saving for something else or depending on the card changing the target to one of your cards to either save what they're after or to give yourself the benefits.
I think it could be an interesting form of interruption in that aspect, but not necessarily broken. I'd be keen to dive into its potential further if we see it in the physical game!
Hell Kaiser was the first one to actually use a structured deck. Also that title of his is 🔥. Syrus (don't remember how his Japanese name is spelled) uses a junk deck. No not like Yusei I mean actual junk. At least his life force is pretty good....and it isn't even a real card.
I think Power Load increases for every time a monster would be able to attack, even if it is by an effect (for example, if equiped while Cyber Twin Dragon is on the field, it would give an 800 boost), or at least thats what I think they were going for considering Zane's deck. Don't wanna think how it would work for monster that can attack each monster tho 😂 loving your content btw! Good editing, good narration, enjoying it a lot!
training field reminded of that one time someone did a rescue ferret+zealantis+ancient lamp combo to attack their own psychic end punisher with a mikanko

Your opponent would just negate it or destroy it before entering the battle phase.

I wonder if that also applies to cards like double attack. I'm guessing that it's just a 400 point boost until the end phase 🥲
Honestly if I were to introduce these characters today I would give Syrus a Scrap Deck to showcase the issues he has with his brother.
Genius play honestly.

I'm shocked to see Kiteroid hasn't had a physical print... I swear I've seen it in Duel Links or something
From what I've seen in other comments, it sounds like it is in Duel Links, along with several other anime exclusive cards
@@burblebineabbletv Yep. Duel Links is basically Master Duel but with a LOT of anime exclusive cards. Kiteroid is actually considered a staple card.
Kiteroid in Duel Links: What once per duel?
Syrus is one of my favorite yugioh characters

0:48 wait wait wait, Cyrus and Joey shared a voice actor?! And he was Solomon, Shadi, Dartz, and Banner?!
An absolute legend!
Not originally the voice of grandpa
Wayne Grayson was in every Yu-Gi-Oh! anime all the way up to Sevens.
The fact ring of life doesn't target is pretty cool
Ring of Life could be interesting on Labrynth actually, since, unlike a lot of Normal Traps that remove exactly 1 monster, it doesn't target
