I bought a pattern for some funny cosplay horns and they have the pattern go top down and I kept trying to get it, but then said 'screw it' and started from the bottom and to make the curve for the horn I just made up a heel. So now I have to repeat that when I make the other one. Lord help me I refuse to write things down cause 'I am the smort and can remember obviously!'

I have a shawl that I am busy with, with the most gorjus silk, alpaca and merino yarn variegated and horribly expensive ... this is the third project now with this yarn, got half way thru the other two and hated hated hated hated them, frogged them and started something new .... and now ... I'm not too sold on this one either !!! I tend to leave it lying for a few months, pick it up again, take ages trying to figure out the pattern (coz I changed it a little 🙄🙄) crochet a few rows, and then leave it again. Maybe I will love it when I finally finish it when I am 80 yrs old 🤣😂🤣😂

Just like with sandwiches, messy tastes better; that's been my experience. I think this is your best video yet, and I don't like cutting yarn at the end of every row, either. Every time I see that in a pattern, I move on. And if you don't like what you've done here today, always remember that it's Justin's fault, he's the one curating the patterns. You're all right.

Nice ending to a frustrating tale of a woman and her tails of yarn. ❤️😂
Hey Corinna, the way to figure out the number of stitches you need is to go up to the 3rd row and add up the total stitches until the repeat and then decide how many times you want to repeat it and then add 3 chains for the double crochet at the end. So, if i remember right (no guarantees), in this case it would be 9+1+3+1+3+9 × the length you want +3 chains for the 1st double crochet.
I hope that helps you the next time it says to make it the length you want it and maybe ease some of your frustrations. 🙂❤️

I have trier the #12 pattern . I think that if you chain a number the multiple of 16 +9 we will not have to cut after each row because we will end with 9 trebles ( d’ci) . I,m sorry for my english , i am french canadien. And i think that on row 4 we attach the 11 chain in bette en the 2 chain6 l’opossum of the 3es row. Repart row 4 over and over. I do not know how to do the l’astuce row however.
I can email you a picture of my they if you want.

Your frustration has motivated me to figure out how to determine stitch counts when the patterns don’t tell me! 😂
So, for the first one, it’s 9 (dc) + 2 (sp) + 1 (sc) + 2 (sp) = 15 - this is your multiple. Then add 9 for the ending 9 dc and 3 for the turning chain.
SOOOO - chain a multiple of 15 plus 12! I tried it to be sure I was right, and it worked! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’m so happy!!! I’ve never figured out a starting chain/stitch multiple on my own before! 🥰
ETA: And now having worked all the given stitches/rows, this pattern is weird as all get out, and I think it was a good choice to chuck it! 😂😂😂

Please also show mishaps, mistakes and outtakes because it is encouraging for us. No master crocheter doesn't have mishaps, I must remember.

  • @amyhughes5473
    @amyhughes5473 3 месяца назад

If anyone is ever dealing with a pattern like this you can work out the multiple by reading ahead to the first row containing any increases or decreases and counting the stitches *from the row below* that are used in the repeat. In this case thats row 3- "*9 treble stitches (+9) six chain (no addition to our multiple because we aren't working into the row below) miss two (+2) one double (+1) six chain (no addition) miss three (+3) repeat from *" so thats 9+2+1+3= 15 so you need to cast on/ chain a multiple of 15. If there are multiple pattern repeats before increasing/ decreasing you have to do this for them all and then use a multiple that works for them all. For example if you have one row with a pattern repeat that counts up as 4 stitches and one that counts up at 5 then you need to start with a multiple of 20.

Once again you are teaching me a new stitch which I like. I am one sleeve away from a cardigan which uses a three repeat pattern of double crochet so there’s no back or front, but it drives me crazy. I want it to be neater than that. This stitch would’ve looked better. I could’ve done a fourth row to keep it front and back sided. I have taken sweaters out and done them over again I’m just hoping not to!😆

You need to look up how to pronounce antimacassar. It is an-ti-ma-cas-sar not anti-mac-assar. Also, instead of frogging a pattern and starting over, especially when you need a small section, why not crochet a small section to match the pattern you have crocheted and attach it with matching yarn to the existing item, the same as you do when sewing sections of a sweater together? No one will ever know. Love this series. Love your meltdowns.

I just did that. I started a project and thought 'nope, i won't like this'. Found another pattern and almost started it and thought the same thing. I thought something was wrong with me. But I guess I'm normal (as normal is). Lol! 😊

#8 seems funky at first but it creates a lace like effect, I am working the same pattern for a top. It creates a honey comb type pattern between the "trebles" which makes stripes horizontally. Repeat it a few times as written and it comes together.

I like the lion yard book you used. I there is enough patterns why don’t you do a mystery using that book. Might be fun.

my thinking is that you can count the number of stitches needed for the pattern repeat (plus number of chains for height) and come up with a base chain length.

I bought a kit with instructions that was ao jacked up i was about to put my hook into the wall. There are times when nothing seems to work. My mom had a pattern like that so she gave me the stuff and asked me to try. I had no issues. It deoends on each of us and how our brains compute i guess.

It's a good thing you got new scissors with your box, because you just ruined your other ones using them to open the box.

Isn't the double crochet in the pattern supposed to be a single crochet?
