***UPDATE ON MY BRAIDS!!!! I only kept them in for 6 days lmaoooo! BUT LISTEN!!! 1st off, Linde did an amazing job!! I loved my braids (while they lasted 😩) I was still able to swoop my baby hairs even though it didn't look like it LOL. But check out my videos on my vlog channel to see them styled (TT3TV) LINK IN BIO!!! They were so cute! I STILL HAVE ALL MY EDGES! They didn't hurt! She was very considerate and kept asking throughout the whole process if they were tight and I told her NOPE. I really enjoyed the feeling of having it braided. It felt good! UNFORTUNATELY I had an allergic reaction or just scalp sensitivity to the braiding hair that was used. Maybe because it was a different brand? I normally use kankelon or expression when braiding my own. She used a brand (I forget the name) that's already pre stretched. Or maybe it's because I'm more sensitive because I'm pregnant? But I normally NEVER break out from braids 😫 and like I said, they didn't hurt! So I know it wasn't from "tightness". I washed them on day 3 with tea tree shampoo to try to relieve the breakout, I kept my scalp greased but nothing helped! SO... I had to take them down 😔 I definitely don't blame the braider, she did her thing and I loved them! I just hate that my scalp didn't agree with the hair. So yeah.... that's the update lol. ***ALSO a lot of people suggested a ACV rinse or mixing ACV with water and spraying my scalp. Personally, I will not put that stuff on my hair because I haaaaaate the smell 🤢 but that may be a good remedy if you deal with a breakout from braiding hair or just wanna clean the braiding hair beforehand because a lot of that braiding hair is coated with chemicals and that would strip them off. Thank ya'll for the suggestions! Thanks for watching! ❤️
I use to break out too. Apparently there is something they put on the hair itself.... what helps me is pre-washing the hair with 2 TBSP of ACV (optional) & shampoo. Drying the hair and re-moisturizing the hair with an oil of your choice before making the box braids.
Idk what the heck is going on with the hair these days but my scalp is ALWAYS ON FIRE after putting weave in hair. It is the worst. I kept my last braids in for 3...maybe 4 weeks. But the first like 2 weeks, I almost died. However, they cost me 180 bucks so I bared with that mess. I’m only working part time and I have 3 kids so 180 is a lil too much for me to take them out after only a few days. But if I was you, I would have done the same thing.
Beautiful job! 💗 But girl the last time I went to an African shop, not that one, and they did my hair...which was the first and the last time, my edges broke badly. They braided every single possible strand of hair available around my crown, like I could barely smile without pain. When I took them down it literally looked like I had a head stretch mark, the color there was lighter and pulled. So, Please keep that area without tension on it!
Yes beautiful braids, but those ladies will pull your temple out right along with your edges..too tight! Everyone I know has no edges from getting their hair braided by the ladies at the African braid shop.
People really kill me when they gasp for air and clench their pearls when people mention the price of box braids. Like I’m 19 and I’ve been doing box braids self taught since I was 13 and I’m better then some of the professionals 🐸🍵 I charge $110-130 for box braids and people act like it’s too much. Like what do you expect you have to think someone is spending all day in their feet braiding your hair , it takes time , skill, and patience. It’s a lot of work . People pay for what they wanna pay for , and the right people will pay your price , PERIOD.

its not about how tight (even though that matters also) it about your scalp the weave is braided down directly into your scalp which can and most likely will cause issues!
Very pretty, but be careful with them edges. They look tight. I used to go to the shop to get my hair braided. But I always made them skip the edges and do them myself. I don’t think $200 is a lot only because I did my braids myself for the first time and the amount of pain I was in was definitely more than $200. But the price is reasonable because I paid around $150 for medium box braids and the hair wasn’t included so after buying the hair it’s almost like paying $200.
