Once they get this figured out the the price will drop and I think it will get more widespread.

but by then wouldnt tcgs counter this and i would think high end people would be aware this is a possibility. modern shouldnt have this problem at all.

@BigBAnimeTCG , do tcgs care enough to counter? There isn't anything really in it for them. They woukd rather you buy a bunch of boxes of the new stuff rather then giving some person thousands in the secondary market

they will if it gets that cheap to scan and jeopardizes their business. if no one can trust sealed product, they cant sell cards on this gacha system we got going on. mtg doesnt recognize a secondary market but we know they do. no tcg can have that collapse.

Only worth it for vintage Pokemon and the under expensive sports cards boxes. Still never buy loose boxes unless from reputable source so we gucci

that is the true moral of the story

So I need to buy a CT scanner 😅 jkjk
Scamming will always be a thing, and I hate that it exists.

it probably would be fun for awhile. id probably scan all sorts of things outside of tcgs.
I think this is just a reminder to not always trust.

i think current ct scanning is too expensive like 65/75$ for 1 pack thats dumb. however if that was 75$ for like a box or if a case scan is like 100$ than i would see more people going into that.

definitely too expensive. i just dont ever think itll get that low because of the cost of the scanner, potential for tcgs to make a change, and time involved to actually use it. then there are only so many sealed out there that are expensive enough to make this worth it.

@@BigBAnimeTCG i think that there is potential for price decrease only if the market is interested enough and enough time and money is thrown at it because of increase in interest. sets from sun and moon and ect would be much more expensive than it would be now and worth it when the price for scanning goes down. although the chances of such investment into scanning cards is low where there wont be rapid innovation and it might die off. however if the medical equipment industry continue to develop i think the technology is there it would just be an issue of calibrating the machine to capture cards specifically.
i dont think the actual scans would be time consuming because once you have the right numbers and imputs it would just be saved so the next time you need that specific set it would just go in and be automated with code.
i highly doubt tcgs would change much. its honestly too much a hassle for companies. maybe some smaller tcg might in order to appeal to certain audience but overall bigger tcgs probably wont. they would be more of a wait and see approach. just my personal opinion. and if bigger tcgs do make some changes to packaging the prices will be much more expensive per pack which would turn away people.

i get all of that but for how many of the expensive stuff that will be left and the reputational damage it will do if discovered, doesnt seem worth it on the lower end of the high end.
i dont think itd be that much of an effort for tcgs to change if that means protecting the secondary market whether they acknowledge it exists or not.

@@BigBAnimeTCG yea thats true but in the end its about cost and if the method to create the protection for scanning is too costly it wouldnt be worth it as customers arent going to pay 8/10$ per pack for modern cards.

@@AniSculpts i think in this case itll be an industry solution. kind of funny cause i write that, i wonder if someone makes a solution and sells it to them. anyways it just takes one to figure it out and the rest to use the same method.

People will always find a new way to make extra money for a service and I can't blame them. Pack opening should be fun and that is for the individual to decide.

yep greed is a thing and will always be a thing. reminds me of when people try to find their christmas presents early or weigh it.
