From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, MEAN GIRLS. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.

No, this is not just a "new thing bad" I'm just not big into musicals, and I can already feel that this is going to be one that gives me secondhand embarrassment.
@@ivyblack8145 see and that's something i can't stand about this movie is that it's bringing out all these people who are attacking those who simply don't like musicals. There's nothing wrong with not liking musicals, what's wrong is these musical fanatics shoving it down our throats. At the end of the day..... IT'S A MOVIE. we're entitled to be upset over a movie adaptation of a musical that came from a movie that came from a friggin book.

I want this movie to succeed. I really had fun with the musical. But they’re not marketing this correctly, almost like they’re embarrassed to admit this is a musical.
Thank you this is exactly what I keep saying but then all the musical obsessed come out and start attacking. Like I never said I dislike musicals, i actually think they're pretty fun and entertaining but yes it literally feels like they don't want to admit it's a musical knowing a lot of people probably wouldn't see it.

Because people like me who don’t like musicals wouldn’t even give it a try if they knew. I didn’t know it was supposed to be a musical and planned on seeing it when I can stream it, but now that I know I won’t.
However, I would turn off the tv anyway as soon as they start singing for the first time. But maybe that way they’ll get more people to go to the movies.

Reneés voice is incredible.Saw her live in MeanGirls on Broadway March 2020 in Newyork.Travelled over from Ireland for my 40th birthday just before we went into Covid lockdown.Definitely going to see this in the cinema.

From this trailer specifically it seems like their not trying to be very grounded with the musical aspect-which is terrific, movie musicals are always better the weirder they get
I'm kinda nervous they changed the music too much from the Broadway version I know they said they were going to "update it" but idk
They said it's going to be less "musical" theatre and more "spotify music" and that it's not a direct adaption of the Broadway musical it's different
I’m really concerned how many songs they’ve cut from the original musical, that soundtrack had 21 songs, this one has 13, including Not My Fault which will most likely be played during the end credits.😢
They said they’re making the soundtrack to be more accessible so the music sounds like songs everyone would listen to on spotify and not musical music

So far the only thing I'm not so sure about is the outfits. I don't know, they look cheesy. Not sexy, the only one wearing something kinda hot is Karen Smith. The OG Mean Girls, the trio were always on point for real.

she would never be popular in an actual highschool. She seems more like a stereotypical bully than the original regina. I cant imagine anyone wanting to be her like how it was for the first mean girls movie

Ugh, they're still advertising this as an "updated for modern audiences" Mean Girls, rather than "Mean Girls The Musical". Big mistake, IMO. It alienates both fans of the original AND fans of the musical.

I'm usually not for making another film of an original classic which no matter what will always stay better. But seeing Tina Fey back for this film makes me wanna watch it, im not a huge musical fan but i do like seeing a modern version of this film and seeing a black girl play the dumb blonde character from the Original will be great to see! 😊 p.s Tina doesnt age, after 20 years from the first film she looks the same! Love Tina so i have high hopes for this film

My only complaint is that they didn’t bring back the original broadway cast for the starring roles.
Well Renée Rapp did play Regina on Broadway, but yeah, we’ll see how the others do 🤷🏼♂️
TBH movie musicals where the bring the Broadway cast to play their roles again rarely goes well. It’s sad to say but most of the Broadway Cast just look too old to be high schoolers.
yeah, it doesn't work for a movie adaptation with so many closeup shots showing their age. Renee can do it because she was an actual teenager at the time of playing regina in broadway and she's still pretty young.

I’ll give it a chance but the new mean girls Walmart Black Friday proved to me how much I would’ve liked to see the original main actresses aged up as moms or guidance counselors etc included in this movie. I don’t know what did or didn’t happen to include them but they are already missed
