There are lots and lots of sidequests in Sei-An City, like blooming all the trees, helping people get around the canal, and stuff like that. *Don't forget to go to the floating island over Sei-An*, by the way!! Also, in the rich people district, *remember that clock tower* and go behind there later.
The Mist Pot allows you to teleport between save points without the need of using the mermaid springs, so it's very useful 8D. Also, a buttload of side missions happen to be in the city. I would cringe if you plan on taking part of the ferry missions XD, so frustrating!
Haha, true. I forget it's not EVERY save point that has the X. I swear he gets instructions on each of the brush techniques (and it's upgrades) that are seperate from the scrolls he collects. I just hope he finds time to read them when not recording to get a better understanding. And for me, it's not the ink that was bothersome in the game. It's the inclusion of the spinny pools that spawn and divert precious seconds away from your destination.
Tips: - You draw a "X" across the Origin Mirror, BUT only on the ones with a sun on them - The Golden Mushroom gives you acess to the hidden technique "Inferno". Give it to the chef in the restourant. As for the Charcoal, you give it to a little girl near Mr. Flower (he can help you bloom the trees in town) - Talk with all the people. They will give you task which will grant you Praise. With it, boost your health a little bit, but still have the focus on the ink Kaguya will give you a "Fire Tablet" when you meet her back at Sasa Sanctuary (it's for the plot, so you must do it). Head back to Sei-an and have a word with Himiko
I see people in the comments telling the tale of the bamboo cutter, and while it is appreciated, I think it's worth mentioning that studio ghibli made a movie of the story. Go watch the tale of princess kaguya for yourself!

The theifs glove is the most powerful weapon in the game. I hope cry plays with it a little bit. And I say fully aware this has all been recorded literally years ago.
To get the demon fangs from the monster with the umbrella, you slow down time. Also the power you got from the emperor, is used by standing on a save point, the big fancy ones, and draw an X on it. For the kimono, you need to talk to one of the little girls in the city and give an item you bought from the store. There were also bunch of treasure buried in the emperor's quarter..... In one of the buildings, Ammy can gain a new fire power by giving an item you got from the tea shop man. Sorry for the long comment. I thought that some of this information can help. :3
Cryaotic it would also be best to start blooming all the cherry blossoms and talking to the old man at the far Northwest corner of the Commoners quarter as it will help cure the sick old man in bed (whos not fully cured fyi)

Cry, now that you have the Fog Pot, you can *draw an X on an origin mirror (save point) that has an X symbol on it to teleport to another origin mirror with an X on it* in any place you've already visited. *Basically, it's fast travel.*
I wish Cry knew that during the Blight battle he can slash the swords back or use the cherry bomb to use some decent damage >_< don't forget about those other skills Cry!
You got an Inkfinity Stone because you accidentally sent Issun at the sword, and he stole it from it. That's what happens when you send Issun at an enemy. You can start stealing treasure and stuff from enemies if you buy the thief's glove from the emperor.
There's a place in that city where you can use that golden shroom. It will get you a new power for fire. To use mist warp, draw an X on the origin mirrors that have X's on them.
I can't wait to see you play more okami! The last video really made me laugh. I played most of the way through it and got stuck on a really hard puzzle later in the game. I'm hoping You can make it farther than I did.
To use Mist Warp, you have to draw an X on an Origin Mirror, then you can warp between them. Origin Mirrors are the big fancy looking save spots, this only works on the big ones that have a cross on them. And I highly suggest using a Glaive as your sub weapon, it has an amazing jumping attack.

Cry, there's a pond in Sei-An City that you can use water spout on *to get to the island floating over the city*. You should really go there. It's REALLY COOL!
Ammy is a female. In Okamiden, Chibiterasu is her son. In the back of the pamphlet for the game under mythology, they write "Though deliberately written to be a gender less character in the game, Amaterasu is portrayed as a woman in the context of Shinto mythology." The game also drops subtle hints that Ammy is in fact a female. Such as the blind ghost saying that he sensed a maiden.

A favorite detail of mine a think a lot of youtubers miss - good game audio and commmentary audio balance! A lot of youtubers tone the game audio down too much for me. You did it great here man
Mist Warp is another transportation ability, kinda like the mermaid pools, but free. Certain save point have another mirror on them with what looks like a wavy "X' on it, the more intricate ones. You draw an X on that mirror, and you can transport to any other similar save point.
For those confused as to why Cry randomly got an Inkfinity Stone midbattle, he didn't. When you draw a line between Issun and an enemy at this size, he steals from it. You later get an item in Kamui (I think, that's where I remember getting it) that lets you do this again at your full size.
Also, you could just Power Slash all the swords when he raises them up and deflect them all while still getting Goldnail by itself. Slowing time is really only useful when he's charging, so you can slow him down and hit him while he passes by (I never bothered doing it myself because I always just went to town with Exorcism Slips, but I heard it can be done).
Isn't there a Japanese folk legend about a moon princess being born in a bamboo forest and being raised by a bamboo cutter...?...And wasn't her name Kaguya...?
Cry, you could've countered Blight's swords by doing a power slash at them. Well, every ranged attack in the form of swords can be countered the same way

Another Okami pro tip: when things are floating around enemies or flying at you(swords, skulls, orbs, ect.), they can usually be slashed with the Cut brush technique in one cut at the right angle. And most items that are slashed while coming towards you will be shot back at the enemy.
For the mist warp technique, origin mirrors that have a white circle and an X mark on them allow you to warp. Stand on the mirror so you get a close-up of it, then draw an X over it to warp to another mirror in Nippon. Very useful technique. :3
I just noticed this, but one of the creepiest things of this part is that, if you'll notice there are coins on the emperor's eyes which means they fully expected him to die and they were giving his body the money needed to pay the ferryman to cross the river styx.
Dude, if you talk to the girl drawing outside at the end of your video and give her some new charcoal she'll come up with specific designs for you to draw on the kimono. You get a lot of praise and a stray bead for it. Also, if you go to the restaurant then you'll finally be able to use those Golden Mushrooms you got from the tea guy at Taka Pass. Aaand Raiden comes into use later once you get a certain brush technique.. and when you find the thief that has been stealing things from around the city, like the Millet Dumplings Momotaro mentioned. You can also help out Blossom's dad more by talking to Mr. Flower again and blooming all of the trees around the city, so you get even more praise. Most importantly though to use the frog pot you bought, you can now draw an 'X' on certain Origin Mirrors (they have to be the big ol' fancy looking ones, not the plain ones) and you can travel to other save points for free. It's like using the mermaid springs.
Mist Warp (what you got for getting the Fog Pot) is very similar to Mermaid Pools, meaning you can teleport around Nipoon. If you go up to an Origin Mirror (save spots) in the more common areas, they will have a pattern on them. Origin Mirrors in dungeons and less prominent areas will not have the pattern. If you draw an "X" on the pattern, you will be able to teleport to different Origin Mirrors. Hope this helps! ^^
If you stand in front of the mirror when saving (But don't actually save unless you have to) and draw a X on the mirror, it can take you to any location you've been before. Buying the Fog Pot is a good convenient choice!
Hey Cry, I dunno if someone already told you that but, that mist warp you earned it's pretty useful! To use it is simple, first you go to the save point (that big one, with some drawing at the mirror), than u step on it and use your brush scroll...than u need do draw a big X in the mirror. That will allow you to warp to any big save point around the game that you already used! I hope this was a useful tip =]
*Tip time!* Charge and hit the weak point for massive damage! Cry, you obtained an inkfinity stone during the Blight battle because you sent Issun to attack the sword (by accident). Issun steals from enemies when you launch him towards them. You can slow Blight down and attack him during his dash, the problem is that you can't do it from behind, you'll just end up getting hurt on the blades sticking out of his back. You can also slash those swords away with the brush instead of just letting them hit you/dodging them. In fact that's the easiest way to hit the blue sword. The Fog pot allows you to teleport between certain mirrors/save points. Like fast travel! Also, *time to bloom all those trees in the city!* The city also has a LOT to do. Lots of sidequests and praise collecting. Now you know the kimono designer is connected to the kids drawing stuff with charcoal somewhere in the city. *Fun fact!* Blight fights like Nelo Angelo/Vergil from DMC1/DMC3! He even had the teleport-like moves and can summon swords in very similar ways.
Hi, Well, awhile ago I wrote some advise for you in the comments and I mentioned a tablet that let's you walk on water. If you save up your demon fangs so that you have 100 again, go back to the emperor. He will tell you that he got a new item and it's that tablet. It's very handy because when equipped you don't have to draw lily pads anymore so I suggest doing that. -Mute P.S. Even though I have already played the game it is still so entertaining to watch you play it.
I think he can't get the water tablet until after Oni Island, since a lot of the stuff that he has to do to get to the point of being on Oni Island wouldn't make sense if he could just walk on water.
The kimono sidequest starts with a kid in one of the districts (cant remember which) You give the kid the charcoal and she'll start drawing. You draw what she draws on the kimono 3 tines
And Cry does not realize the story of Momotaro (aka Peach boy), another Japanese folk legend like Kaguya. *Spoilers may be seen if you want to know the story* For a simplified short version of the story, Momotaro was born from a large peach (hence his name), and while growing up, his family was tormented by the Oni coming from Oni Island who ravaged the lands and made it hard to live in. Momotaro goes out on an adventure to Oni Island, and his mother (because she was old when finding Momotaro, this game refers to her as a grandmother) gives him some Millet Dumplings for the journey. On the way, he runs into a dog (or wolf in this case), a monkey, and a pheasant, and he gives each of them part of a millet dumpling to eat. After eating a Millet dumpling, they follow Momotaro to Oni Island, where they penetrate the island's fortress and defeated the leader Oni that ruled the island. The four of them returned home with the plundered loot. The End of this summarized story. :)

Projectiles can be knocked back at the enemy with a power slash across it, even multiple projectiles at the same time. The projectiles are usually bright yellow or orange so hit 'em back and do some damage! c:

Cry, now that you have the Fog Pot, you can *draw an X on an origin mirror (save point) that has an X symbol on it to teleport to another origin mirror with an X on it* in any place you've already visited. *Basically, it's fast travel.*
I wish Cry knew that during the Blight battle he can slash the swords back or use the cherry bomb to use some decent damage >_< don't forget about those other skills Cry!
You got an Inkfinity Stone because you accidentally sent Issun at the sword, and he stole it from it. That's what happens when you send Issun at an enemy. You can start stealing treasure and stuff from enemies if you buy the thief's glove from the emperor.
There's a place in that city where you can use that golden shroom. It will get you a new power for fire.
To use mist warp, draw an X on the origin mirrors that have X's on them.

I can't wait to see you play more okami! The last video really made me laugh. I played most of the way through it and got stuck on a really hard puzzle later in the game. I'm hoping You can make it farther than I did.
To use Mist Warp, you have to draw an X on an Origin Mirror, then you can warp between them. Origin Mirrors are the big fancy looking save spots, this only works on the big ones that have a cross on them.
And I highly suggest using a Glaive as your sub weapon, it has an amazing jumping attack.

Ammy is a female. In Okamiden, Chibiterasu is her son. In the back of the pamphlet for the game under mythology, they write "Though deliberately written to be a gender less character in the game, Amaterasu is portrayed as a woman in the context of Shinto mythology." The game also drops subtle hints that Ammy is in fact a female. Such as the blind ghost saying that he sensed a maiden.

A favorite detail of mine a think a lot of youtubers miss - good game audio and commmentary audio balance! A lot of youtubers tone the game audio down too much for me. You did it great here man
Mist Warp is another transportation ability, kinda like the mermaid pools, but free. Certain save point have another mirror on them with what looks like a wavy "X' on it, the more intricate ones. You draw an X on that mirror, and you can transport to any other similar save point.

For those confused as to why Cry randomly got an Inkfinity Stone midbattle, he didn't. When you draw a line between Issun and an enemy at this size, he steals from it. You later get an item in Kamui (I think, that's where I remember getting it) that lets you do this again at your full size.
Also, you could just Power Slash all the swords when he raises them up and deflect them all while still getting Goldnail by itself. Slowing time is really only useful when he's charging, so you can slow him down and hit him while he passes by (I never bothered doing it myself because I always just went to town with Exorcism Slips, but I heard it can be done).
Actually he could get that item from the emperor by trading it for demon fangs :0
Oh, yeah! I only ever got it in Kamui, personally, but now that you mention it, I remember the Emperor having it, too.
I really hope that you playing okami will get more people to recognize what a good game this is! I just finished it last week, and it was amazing.

Cry, you could've countered Blight's swords by doing a power slash at them. Well, every ranged attack in the form of swords can be countered the same way

Another Okami pro tip: when things are floating around enemies or flying at you(swords, skulls, orbs, ect.), they can usually be slashed with the Cut brush technique in one cut at the right angle. And most items that are slashed while coming towards you will be shot back at the enemy.
Also: the mist warp lets you teleport from savepoint to savepoint when you draw an X on the mirror when it zooms in while you stand on the savepoint.

For the mist warp technique, origin mirrors that have a white circle and an X mark on them allow you to warp. Stand on the mirror so you get a close-up of it, then draw an X over it to warp to another mirror in Nippon.

I just noticed this, but one of the creepiest things of this part is that, if you'll notice there are coins on the emperor's eyes which means they fully expected him to die and they were giving his body the money needed to pay the ferryman to cross the river styx.
Dude, if you talk to the girl drawing outside at the end of your video and give her some new charcoal she'll come up with specific designs for you to draw on the kimono. You get a lot of praise and a stray bead for it. Also, if you go to the restaurant then you'll finally be able to use those Golden Mushrooms you got from the tea guy at Taka Pass. Aaand Raiden comes into use later once you get a certain brush technique.. and when you find the thief that has been stealing things from around the city, like the Millet Dumplings Momotaro mentioned.
You can also help out Blossom's dad more by talking to Mr. Flower again and blooming all of the trees around the city, so you get even more praise.
Most importantly though to use the frog pot you bought, you can now draw an 'X' on certain Origin Mirrors (they have to be the big ol' fancy looking ones, not the plain ones) and you can travel to other save points for free. It's like using the mermaid springs.
Frog pot.. I meant Fog Pot. Mist Warp. Yeah.
Mist Warp (what you got for getting the Fog Pot) is very similar to Mermaid Pools, meaning you can teleport around Nipoon. If you go up to an Origin Mirror (save spots) in the more common areas, they will have a pattern on them. Origin Mirrors in dungeons and less prominent areas will not have the pattern. If you draw an "X" on the pattern, you will be able to teleport to different Origin Mirrors.

If you stand in front of the mirror when saving (But don't actually save unless you have to) and draw a X on the mirror, it can take you to any location you've been before. Buying the Fog Pot is a good convenient choice!

Hey Cry, I dunno if someone already told you that but, that mist warp you earned it's pretty useful! To use it is simple, first you go to the save point (that big one, with some drawing at the mirror), than u step on it and use your brush scroll...than u need do draw a big X in the mirror. That will allow you to warp to any big save point around the game that you already used! I hope this was a useful tip =]
He doesn't even have to have used the save point. It just has to be in a place that he's already been to before.

Charge and hit the weak point for massive damage!
Cry, you obtained an inkfinity stone during the Blight battle because you sent Issun to attack the sword (by accident). Issun steals from enemies when you launch him towards them.
You can slow Blight down and attack him during his dash, the problem is that you can't do it from behind, you'll just end up getting hurt on the blades sticking out of his back.
You can also slash those swords away with the brush instead of just letting them hit you/dodging them. In fact that's the easiest way to hit the blue sword.
The Fog pot allows you to teleport between certain mirrors/save points. Like fast travel!
Also, *time to bloom all those trees in the city!* The city also has a LOT to do. Lots of sidequests and praise collecting. Now you know the kimono designer is connected to the kids drawing stuff with charcoal somewhere in the city.

Blight fights like Nelo Angelo/Vergil from DMC1/DMC3! He even had the teleport-like moves and can summon swords in very similar ways.

Well, awhile ago I wrote some advise for you in the comments and I mentioned a tablet that let's you walk on water. If you save up your demon fangs so that you have 100 again, go back to the emperor. He will tell you that he got a new item and it's that tablet. It's very handy because when equipped you don't have to draw lily pads anymore so I suggest doing that.

I think he can't get the water tablet until after Oni Island, since a lot of the stuff that he has to do to get to the point of being on Oni Island wouldn't make sense if he could just walk on water.
The kimono sidequest starts with a kid in one of the districts (cant remember which)
You give the kid the charcoal and she'll start drawing. You draw what she draws on the kimono 3 tines
And Cry does not realize the story of Momotaro (aka Peach boy), another Japanese folk legend like Kaguya.
*Spoilers may be seen if you want to know the story*
For a simplified short version of the story, Momotaro was born from a large peach (hence his name), and while growing up, his family was tormented by the Oni coming from Oni Island who ravaged the lands and made it hard to live in. Momotaro goes out on an adventure to Oni Island, and his mother (because she was old when finding Momotaro, this game refers to her as a grandmother) gives him some Millet Dumplings for the journey. On the way, he runs into a dog (or wolf in this case), a monkey, and a pheasant, and he gives each of them part of a millet dumpling to eat. After eating a Millet dumpling, they follow Momotaro to Oni Island, where they penetrate the island's fortress and defeated the leader Oni that ruled the island. The four of them returned home with the plundered loot.
The End of this summarized story. :)
