These PS5 DLC Trophies Were Fun.. Until This One Level

- Easily one of my favorite PlayStation 5 games so far this generation has been Astro Bot. And recently we've gotten our first round of DLC trophies as part of a weekly series of free Speedrun levels. Well, now that all those levels are live on PSN -- it's time to go get them done. And to my surprise, that last level is actually kind of annoying. Bless anyone who easily just blazed through that. The second you tie it to motion controls, it becomes a whole different ball game. A ball game I'll still play in, don't get me wrong. It was frustrating fun. Which is sometimes just as good. Mmmmm.

You can go into the settings and turn the motion control off so the monkey is controlled from the left stick. Makes this so much easier to do

Figures I would only find out about this after getting the plat for the game, but at least it will allow me to hopefully improve my time for the challenge level itself. Thanks mate.
I feel controlling the monkey with the motion controls is easy when you get into a rhythm with the triggers and moving left and right using the stick would slow me down doing it that way
@@instahawk8422 yea I thought the same, but you only have to hold the direction you want to go with the left stick, and it just does it. You don’t need to swap left and then right
It was the only way I could play on the Portal
This is the only one I had a hard time with, but I played it in front of my kid. I had to show up.

The last few seconds of this video are shocking. Almost every bot still has the spinning blue ring indicating you haven't interacted with them. The interaction animations are half the fun of the cameos!
I thought that just meant you haven’t bought their special item yet
yeah,, thats the thing with content creators, he would barely visit the crash site for making content, just used the gatcha machine all at once at the end and then you have 300 bots to interact, he prob didnt bothered with it since it was probably already tiring to press the gatcha machine buttons 300 times
the crash site was made for you to visit it regularly, some people miss that
@@jowfornari He's also a trophy hunter and the one thing I've learned about trophy hunters is they don't really care about the games themselves that much, only the trophies it provides them to feed the obsession. It's always a mad rush to get the platinum/100% and move on to the next thing.
Most trophy hunters wouldn't even bother with this DLC if it didn't have trophies. They want their 100% completion back, that's the primary reason they're even playing it.
This surprised me as well. He’s mentioned that this is the type of game where he’d take his time to appreciate and take in every detail…I guess not lol
It hurt a little, especially because it's Ryan, someone who would know more about the little animations than most. Shocking is the right word :(

KNEW IT WAS THE MONKEY BARS
Rising Heat seems like the perfect level for all the family at Christmas time. It's got that Wii quality of kids laughing at their uncle flapping his arms around.
The blue bird (slow time) and red bird (fast time) at the start of the race and during indicate if you’ll unlock both bots or not. They sit on a lever that locks up the bot so you need to beat the birds to the finish line.
Well, the birds sit in a lever that more accurately shoots the bots into the sky haha! You can see this on the first stage when Ryan is trying to figure out unlocking the second bot

Astro: platinum & add on too. Both 100% too.
That last level killed my hands trying to improve my time
The last level took me a good while to get the last bot
The first couple of levels were fun but holy moly the monkey one caught me off guard 💀I finally got a 1:04 and was done with the level
I never saw anyone rage this much (for the final level) and enjoy being mad at the level, even with Sackboy it's just impressive how Mystic can be annoyed and enjoy a game at the same time, In fact, I like this level a lot and I got the blue bot on like my first try and took at max 3 to get the red bot on Rising Heat.
I use the motion controls btw, I honestly don't mind them and I would think it was pointless having a PS5 remote if I didn't use these features!

11:32 LOLLL 😂 the monkey bar levels are something else, it has some of the insanity feels(or should i say N Sanity 😅) of old Crash Bandicoot speed/relic run Levels . Rage inducing to the max. Can't wait to get my Astro bot copy down the line. I know I'm gonna love this game
Just an average plater myself, (mind you I did platinum crash 4), but the last level took me only couple of tries, but key for me was don’t over do the controller gesture
And STILL no Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal in the game. Grrrrr!

As someone with basil joint arthritis in both wrists/thumbs, the last DLC level might just be impossible for me. So much for my 100%. :(

I still don't understand why we never got any bots from Twisted Metal. No Sweet Tooth Not just seems. I also thought for sure we'd get more themed levels based on classic PSX levels. I really wanted a PaRappa level. The music alone would have been epic. Or even a level based on Katamari Damacy, complete with Katamari ball style play. Maybe they are saving some of this for Astro Bot 2? Hmm..

Can you make another video where you interact with the bots at the crash site? That’s literally the BEST part
the monkey is just the worst ability in the game in my opinion, it's the only one that requires more than a simple button press to use and it frankly sticks out like a sore thumb, not to mention it was the worst ability from Astros playroom and ended up being the only one that came back.

Rising Heat is the only one I struggled with, even turning off the tilt controls didn't really make things much easier.
I did the balloon and boxing glove levels and turned it off after a few tries of the climbing one lol will get it eventually.
Ryan had to work for that last one lol.
I enjoyed the ice level, the spring level and the helium level. I thought the Building Speed level was boring and hated the monkey level
Rising Heat looked tough 🙂
Went by these somewhat quick and never noticed the birds lol, would’ve been nice to know there were visual cues for the time targets when I did the levels. Oh well…

Audeze Maxwell, Playstation Pulse Elite or Sony Inzone H7/H9. Maxwell price doesn't bother me and neither does the weight. They're only 0.3lbs heavier than my Logitech G933, which are now starting to fall apart.
Yes that monkey level was pure nonsense turn off motion sensor in the settings if your fingers start hurting 🤣🤣 my shoulders hurt after this because I worked out before and didn’t know it was gonna hurt or maybe I was too into the game
Controller Tilt assist helped me on the last one
Rising Heat took me a little while to do but I got it down after I turned off the motion controls.

I turned off motion control for the monkey level... it was the only way. otherwise I love using all of the controls abilitys
You think that's bad? Try playing the monkey level on your Portal. I was lying in bed when I came to that level on my Portal, and it sucked ass. (I got the first bot but not the second.) Then I switched to a regular DualSense and it was so much easier.
That’s the weird thing for me, I find the monkey level super easy with motion controls and everything, so when I found out this was the one ppl have found the hardest I was honestly shocked

The monkey bars level is the only reason why I’m not number 1 on all courses on my friends list. I really don’t like it. The other levels were great.

I canceled my adaptive triggers on my Dual Sense Edge to complete the fifth level. It's good to see that I'm not the only one who struggled with this level. :P

I've had adaptive triggers switched off since launch. They make my fingers sore.

Last competition is way more easy to achieve if turn off controller swing (dont know actually how its calls in english version) assistance in options
I'm having a nightmare with this level I've got spasticity down my right hand side after breaking my neck in an accident trying to be quick as well as trying to control the bloody monkey hands is really trying my patience 🙈🤣
Go to the options menu and turn off motion controls off so that you control each arm with the analog sticks.

I'm still able-bodied (although VERY middle aged now), and I never bother with any sort of Speed Run levels in games.

The last one with the monkey arms give me a lot of trouble too had to do it like five or six times. The power is definitely not made for speed runs.

I really enjoyed all the other DLC levels but the monkey one is all except fun.... 😩 I just miss 2 trophies for the 100%. I will try to disable the motion in the options to make it easier. Thx for people here giving this advice. 😊
At the monkey level that is not obnoxiously long. It's perfectly made for me!

The real experience with these was definitely playing them as they released, competing with PSN friends, in the moment. Reminded me of my first ever online gaming experience on the Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure where Sega hosted an online speedrun competition for a week, on the first level of the game, complete with a way to check times on the browser. We've come a long way.
The FOMO is how they get so many early sales, it's all psychological manipulation!
I just wish there were Final Fantasy 16 and Nier Automata bots in the dlc levels

I haven't bought Astro Bot yet; still thinking about it. Matter fact, still don't have a PS5 yet.
The base game looks fun, however, I am not interested in any sort of Speed Run levels in the least.

Are you missing the four bonus bots? You can find them on the crash site if you found them in Astro's Playroom.
I genuinely did not realize people thought this level was hard, I took it down on the first go. I might just be too Astro Bot-pilled lol

@@plaidchuck oh, right, I forgot that I was supposed to be a mind reader. They didn't abandon him though. Not even as a mascot. Astro has just found much higher success than they anticipated. They didn't make him the mascot, he just kind of became one.
I knew gamer unfriendly decisions would screw it up. This is why dlc trophies should not be a thing.
I think Campaign Story DLC Trophies should be a thing.
However, I agree with you that Speed Runs should not have Trophies attached.
Some of us are just too dang old to ever have a chance at completing Speed Run Trophies.

The monkey level wasn't any harder than the others. Judging by how the dualsense appears when you pause, you held it pointed downwards too much.
