LIVING ON A SAILBOAT ON AN ISLAND IN THE BAHAMAS

  • A day in the life living on a sailboat on an island in the Bahamas, Bimini. Not everyday is sailing in the cruising life. A lot of it is like "normal" land life. You still need to do the things that need to be done, running errands for things you need, doing laundry, eating and being happy! The difference is that you do these things in unfamiliar locations, no car, lots of walking and exposed to the elements. For this reason, everyday tasks take much longer to achieve but also feel like more of an achievement once completed. It can be a much slower and more appreciative way of life, however more challenging and not always do you appreciate the challenge. Always an adventure!

Great video, and thanks for sharing it as I will be repositioning my boat to the ABC islands from the US and Bimini is one of my stops. My passage will be done in stages, as I can't do it all at once since I'm still in the workforce and will be either single-handed,or short-handed, and will leave the boat for a week or so at various locations, ( T&C, GTK, RD, PR) so this video is a great heads up for me, in addition in avoiding hurricane season as well. The cell phone is crucial indeed. I have the fortune of working for an airline so I've been flying in and out of various islands finding out the logistical issues, to minimize potential boat and personal issues. Enjoy the cruising, stay safe and fair winds.

The Compleat Angler was way cool. We were there in 1987, before it burned, and got a tour of the place from Ozzie Brown. But, the Bimini Big Game Club was still pretty cool back then, too. They had a bartender named Cooper back then, who had served Hemingway drinks. It's a lot different these days.

I'm curious, at the start of the episode the drone footage showed you tied off to a bouy on your port quarter and also to the pontoon on your port bow as well as being tied on the starboard side. Why not just tie off on the starboard side with fenders?, Also, why didn't you reverse into the slip?

It hurt$ but several cell phone makers (apple, htc, samsung, more) sell DIRECT "developers edition" cell phones. US market channels, full US warranty. These are totally unlocked and often cover ALL carriers, including Verizon. Next time you are looking, consider one of them. Costs more, does more. No more chains.

It's THRIVING, but really still intact and 100% functional. Just some slight wear on the wheels which would be expected. Only downside is that when not full of supplies (on the way to the store) it only tows well in the open position but that's not really a problem. Definitely the best cart we saw out there.
