Thank you for a good video. Coin collecting is huge. As with most collectibles they are art. I'd be interested in hearing the details about the artist and engravers. I own the mega red book, but sometimes would rather hear an expert collector talk about the history of the coin while I multi-task. Have a great week.

No one can doubt your love for the hobby! One of the best parts about the hobby is everyone gets to do it just how they want. I like trying to buy and sell to take the profits to buy what I want for myself. But I end up doing a lot more buying than selling because I can't let them all go, haha.

Very nice coins. Thank you for sharing them with us. I think the grading on the coins is spot on. I have no problem buying raw coins from a reputable dealer. The only coins I adamantly buy slabbed are shipwreck coins because there's just too much potential for fakes -- and even those can be dicey. I really enjoy pulling out my coins and looking at them. I have also bought from MacVanderstein and found them to be very reliable. I'm going to attend a coin show on Friday for the very first time -- very excited. Appreciate it that you activated the closed caption feature.

I don't have a large cent collection for two reasons. There are so many of them, and I hardly come across them except for dealers. For the most part I still have the patience to not overpay. In certain instances where you need key dates I will. Don't like to, but I will.

Wow, what neat coins, I never thought I would like any other coins other than silver dollars. Now I’m on eBay looking at what I can afford in grade level XF45 in PCGS slabs. Back in early 2000 I started collecting raw Mo 8 reale both in cobs and pillar dollars before China started making copies of them. This issue with China fakes cause me to start buying graded coins from that point on.

Early in my coin collecting days, I bought all raw coins from some of the big distributors nationwide. Fast forward several years (and finally having the coins checked by a professional), it was determined that I got burned BIG-TIME! About 90% of my Morgans and Peace Dollars were either cleaned or harshly cleaned (I didn't know any better at the time). I am buying ONLY graded coins going forward! For your regular amateur, grading raw coins can be very subjective... and when you're dealing with high dollar coins, it can be the difference between large sums of money!

For major keys like the 93s or 89cc I say definitely. Everything else I would buy raw. That being said I don’t blame you. Buying raw coins can be a real gamble.

That’s a cool series too and that 1856 is a tough one. I’d like to have all the cent coins up through 1958

My opinion the Barber is vg you suppose to have full liberty to get a fine grade . Coin dealers tend to push to the next grade. Im alot like you I like the raw coins as well. These folks buying all this high grade stuff wait till they sell there going to realize there going to loose there but on it. I love pocket knives, arrowheads, pop bottles, saddle irons, hot wheels, old tools. I no you live in Ky but my son owns an estate sale in Hamilton, Ohio .Come and check him out. Seated half is vg 10. I'm a 58 year collector.

Hey man, I just wanted to say if that's how you're collecting coins you're doing it all backwards you really should try and get the harder dated coins first you get the key dates first and then you worry about the stuff

The deal was ok but it bothers me when dealers over grade. It makes you feel like you got a great deal instead of just ok.

This is what drove me to graded coins, NO two people will ever grade the same, even the person you originally purchased from. For me PCGS is a life saver and I never looked back. Today on my Morgan’s I’m updating my MS63s to MS64 and love when I can get one in Proof Like. Now on my ASEs I have been doing cost averaging and have my eyes on a 1995-W PR69 hopefully before its price goes even higher.

@@sailfly2869 I feel like third party grading inflates the price but I get why people like it.

Going by mintage is by now obsolete, especially for Morgan’s. The Redbook itself notes over 270million were melted by the Pitman act. Then in the 1980s hysteria even 40% Ike’s we’re going to the melters, the Morgan and this time the Peace dollars went down even further. The true number of remaining coins is of great interest to me.
