The Things I hate about Cinnamon is that it is Heavy for no reason, and the animations are choppy...making th whole OS seem cheap. That is why I will not leave MATE which in seconds can look exactly like Cinnamon. I dont understand why Cinnamon exists when MATE should be focused on to be improved. MATE and Compiz are a winner.
I also like compiz smooth animations ( in some distros they are unstable ) . MATE is actually gnome2 and wm is metacity. Cinnamon uses Muffin Window manager based on Mutter. You can use compiz in cinnamon also.

I wish you would have shown Mint logged in and Working in Wayland and demonstrated more of the animations.
