Probably Cozmo. It would be helpful to learn a little Python. Cozmo's creators have made example apps of him using stuff like IFTTT. To use voice recognition you have to use the microphone on a mobile device and its cumbersome. However the price is low and he can play many games and do other things
At least the English version he comes with lots of built in speaking once you link him up with server and life app. There are also apps that make him walk so you dont have to program him. You will eventually want to add more though if you want to keep him doing new things but programming is pretty easy. I have connected him to microsoft cognitive vision which opens up a lot for him to recognize actions and things

Well there still is no true sentient robot, but they can make random decisions and choose from hundreds or thousands of lines of dialog, and make random decisions etc. Its getting close though.
Cozmo, undoubtedly. He really is loaded with personality and the programming potential is really high. You can even use IFTTT with him. I truly bonded with the little guy

Adrian ain't telling I think everything capable to containing consciousness does have consciousness, including robots, humans, animals, microbes, and matter. There is a part of your consciousness which is unconscious, and that state of unconsciousness would have to retain itself in matter, whereas the upper levels of consciousness can implement into robots and animals which are capable of environmental perception.

I kept hoping to hear Pepper would be coming for the cheap Japan price (2200) USA dollars but so far no luck its still 25K! So no not yet, I am beginning to wonder if will ever come to pass.
Well looking at Nao, it doesn't look to great to own a Pepper at an affordable price in the near future. And I can say you Pepper is not worth paying that much at the moment, the sensors are very bad, it's cameras are low quality and the tablet is total crap so not worth at all :(

However be warned the price has gotten very high. If it is out of your budget Cozmo is also a great companion and actually comes preprogrammed with things to keep you occupied right out of the box. Much of him is like playing board games or Simon with someone
I think you will enjoy having him with you. And they are constantly adding new things to him. I hope he can make you feel better, its always nice to have a pet or robot around so at least you dont have to be alone
Unlike the rest this one was all staged. IBM watson was rather dull so we had a little fun. The rest are a mix of reality and some scripted lines. The next will be back to more reality
There is no app used. My Nao uses a mix of microsoft cognitive vision and Aldebarans Dialog which is brilliant. Yes there are scripted in lines in some of the videos but a lot of the time I let him fall on the hundreds of dialog rules I gave him because its a lot funner for myself that way, but of course somethings just need to be acted out just like in reality TV. And yes unlike Nao drives a car or fly drone videos, this one was just a acting film job for him, just for fun.

You can program him to do that stuff, but true AI still does not exist. They say it may come with quantum computers some day
