I play to a 3.5 index which I feel is pretty good. A few years ago in a match play tournament I got paired up with a local teaching pro who is a plus 4 index, over 7 shots a round better than me on average. He froze me out on the 12 hole. He later got a local exemption to play in a real PGA tournament and didn't make the weekend, shooting (if I recall correctly) a high 70's and, like and 80-81. I'll forever be impressed with PGA golfers.

I get the numbers, but are we comparing apples with apples? The tour pro stats are going to be on super long courses playing almost always from the back tees, potentially with punitive rough grown in, onto (potentially) smaller greens with very high stimps and some fiendishly difficult flag positions.

Tour pros are almost all under 40 years old. You should have add the average distance for scratch golfer under 40.

The driving distance is a bad stat to use. Pga tour uses driver only , while apps like Shotscope and Arccos use all holes. Example, using a 4 iron off a tee box is calculated as a drive and will affect the driving distance significantly. Where as Pga driving distance is measured on driver holes only

The fairways hit numbers at 50-60% most surprising to me. Makes my efforts look much better
