Anyone ever hear of Tilikum the killer whale? In the documentary Blackfish, it's admitted that as a training method, they'd deprive him of food, and punish him for not completing tricks for entertainment. They also paired him up with a very heavily trained whale, and whenever he didnt accomplish the same tricks the other whale did, they'd both get no food for the night. As a result, Tilikum was 'raked' by the other whale. In the morning, the trainers would see that Tilikum was covered in scars and cuts, and he was still performing. He was then on the breaking point. He worked at Sealand, in Canada. He killed a part time trainer, and this person was Keltie Byrne. They were a champion swimmer, as well. He also was at one point shipped to a SeaWorld. There was more reported incidents I'm forgetting, but a very special one happened at SeaWorld. A very professional, very trained, and very emotionally connected person to the whales was sitting with Tilikum, when Tilikum grabbed their ponytail and pulled them down into the tank, and eventually, the whale got their arm and they ended up dying. That was Dawn, the trainer. Basically, Stop capturing whales and hurting them for entertainment and cash. Edit: Also, it's literally been proven that killer whales are so smart that they have a part of their brains that process emotions and stuff, so SeaWorld and SeaLand abused the one animal that actually can process emotions like *anger.*

I remember as a kid watching this show and thinking wow, what a magical sight. What the trainers got these Killer Whales to do was incredible & mesmerising. Now as an adult, and after watching Blackfish, it saddens me....
There's a big difference. Dogs were domesticated by humans more than 30,000 years ago. Cats were domesticated 10,000 years ago. Orcas aren't pets, they're apex predators. They're used to swimming over 100 miles per day. They dive 500 to 800 feet. The biggest tank at SeaWorld is 36 feet deep.
@@MermaidMusings7 it doesn't matter if it was 10 or 30,000 years ago. It's still an animal being held against it's will. My neighbor keeps their dog tied all day to the fence, what the difference between that dog and shamu? That 36 feet deep pool is no different than that 5 foot rope that dog has around its neck. Dogs hunt in packs and also kill? there's no difference between them and orcas when it comes to being apex predators besides being on land or sea?????? dogs descended from wolves, which are still wild and people decided to mess with their dna and force breed them. There is literally nothing you can say to justify any of this or people owning a pet. ITS ALL THE SAME!!!
It's sad to see these majestic beasts in captivity just for our amusement, but at the same time, it's just incredible to see this kind of control humans can have on these animals. And watching them interact gracefully with humans is just unreal.
It's not incredible that humans have control. They basically have no choice! A human would have control over you if they controlled your food source too. It's nothing but manipulation through psychological torture and I'm glad those fuck faces died. Animals should be free.
I can feel the sadness in eyes of these animals. God knows at what level of torture they have gone through to get trained. Their only dream is to get free and get back into the ocean where they can live as they want to. I am ashamed of being human. I hope one day this will change😞

People tend to ride off these creatures over rare incidents that actually occured due to abusing it. But watching this, I can see why people love them so much. They look like social animal's that enjoy spending time with people, just from what I can see here. Watching 'Free Willy' growing up too, the thing is that even in the wild, these creatures have saved people many times & possess incredible intelligence. More money should be put into stopping the way they are trained in awful ways, understanding them & instead focus on making them comfortable & happy with better training techniques. The water too, I can't imagine that all the chemical's would be that healthy for them & think fresh sea water would be more ideal.
This is so sad it makes me cry. As Joan Jett said, the music they play even gives these creatures psychological problems as it messes with their sensitive sonar capabilities.

Kalina's story breaks my heart. Not only was she separated from her mother, all four of her calves were taken from her. When her fourth calf, Skyla, was moved to another pool and lifted out by a stretcher, Kalina began to ram violently into the gate that separated them. She ended up with severe lacerations on her face. She never saw her daughter again and died within a few short years. They forced her to breed at only six years old. In the wild, orcas typically start calving between thirteen to fourteen years of age. Having a calf at eight years old is unheard of in whale society - at least in the wild. Kalina isn't the only orca to have been bred too young. Takara was torn from her mother, hauled across the country three times to different SeaWorld parks, treated like a breeding mare and separated from two of her calves. Kohana (Tilikum and Takara's daughter), Skyla (Tilikum and Kalina's daughter), Tekoa (Tilikum and Taima's son) and Keto (Kalina's son and the orca who killed Alexis Martinez) were torn away from their mothers at young ages and shipped off to Spain. Kohana rejected both of her calves, Skyla is dead, Keto has serious anger issues, Tekoa and Morgan are frequently harassed by the other orcas. Corky and Lolita have been in captivity for over half a century. Lolita is from the Puget Sound Southern Resident orca population, which was decimated by captures in the sixties and seventies. They are now listed as critically endangered. Her mother, Ocean Sun, is estimated to be between eighty and ninety years old. They will probably never be reunited. Corky is a Northern Resident and member of the A-23 pod. Her sister, brother, niece and grand-nephews can still be seen roaming the coastal waters of British Columbia. What different lives they must lead.
How would you feel to be ripped away from your family. How horrible. I have been to sea world 2x and vowed to not go again after seeing Blackfish. I love animals , it is so sad to hear these Mother's crying for their babies
Which only makes the cruelty they’re subjected to even worse... an animal with the capacity to use their brain as whales, dolphins & seals should never be kept for human entertainment. Totally disgusting!!!

If you have not seen it yet download or watch the documentary blackfish, it shows you wht these fantastic creatures have that bent over fin, tragic and we all need to stop this torture
And it is also absolute bullshit, with the SeaWorld employees in it all saying that they redacted what they said in that mockumentary. Everything was taken out of context and even with the people in it saying blackfish is a lying sack of shit, people still jump on board. I don't know what torture you mean either, they are fed daily meals and they get snacks for doing tricks, just like what people do with dogs and cats, so are we torturing our canine and feline friends when we give them treats for doing some tricks? The answer is no, no one but PETA thinks that way, and until you have worked in a zoo or aquarium, you really can't say what is going on behind the scenes, and as I have volunteered at my local zoo and aquarium the last 3 summers and am doing so again to make it 4 times, I can say outright that the animals are treated better than most of the staff, and they have an amazing healthcare plan too. If an employee or volunteer is seen teasing an animal with food or abusing them, they are released immediately and the volunteers are not allowed back to help out, and the employees have an insanely hard time finding another zoo that would hire them, because that teasing/abusing of an animal follows them everywhere. Also, SeaWorld saves thousands of animals per year thanks to these captive born animals (all the show animals are captive born i.e. they can't be released as they have no survival skills), as SeaWorld puts most of it's profits into the rescue./rehabilitation programs. To give you a perspective of how many animals are saved thanks to these show animals, I'll give you this little bit of info; PETA kills more cats and dogs a year than SeaWorld saves, and SeaWorld saves up to 22,000 animals per year, not all years are that high, but that is a rough average of what I've been able to find. So yeah the organization that is dedicated to getting animals the rights they deserve kill more animals than SeaWorld saves per year. Apparently one of the rights animals deserve is being killed because PETA doesn't have enough room to hold them. PETA is basically a kill shelter for animals of all shapes and sizes.
JackWilspin Pretty sure I just responded to you, but in case I'm wrong I'll repeat. SeaWorld has no reason to sue after all the employees said it wasn't true and was taken out of context. Also with many considering it to be a mockumentary, it can't be taken to court, as mockumentaries are satire, which isn't something that the courts will deal with.
These creatures have never been in the sea, the ones in this show are born and bred in captivity. So they basically cant be put back to somewhere they never been to, its not like these could even function in sea anymore.
+mitähän vittua The current Orcas in SeaWorld could be retired to a sea pen/sea sanctuary. Humans + business generally equals evil, it's a theme park not a wildlife sanctuary.
@@Enigma3097 so what credentials do you have when it comes to this? have you worked with marine animals or have you just got an email from the animal rights groups telling you this is happening . That does not happen randomly, if the process is properly regulated and very few whales (or any other wild creatures) were transferred to controlled environments for the benefit of human kind while not impacting the ecosystem, such practice is not wrong and has long been a necessary fact for progress to reach life as you know it today.

I think outlawed completely is outrageous, many of these animals are injured or were born in captivity, unable to survive in the wild, outlawing it completely would cause them to have a hard life. Many of the whales are actually very happy. Stop and and take a moment to think. What I personally think should be outlawed is the *unfair* treatment, so that they can still be kept, just in happy conditions.
@@colbstar7389 Outlawed means: No breeding. No Shows. No buying new animals. No concrete tanks, but big sea pens, to bring them back in their natural Habitat. And in case of "rescues": focus on Rehabilitation, not keeping them in captivity. Otherwise its just a lame excuse to make Money. Of course you cant let an animal born in captivity Back into the ocean But you can give them a live as natural and free as possible. I think to keep highly social, intelligent Predators who can travel through whole oceans in small concrete tanks for human Entertainment is outrageous. And disgusting.
@@fjeldfross9327 yeah I totally agree about the rehabilitation part, I also think they deserve to be free, but if they’re treated right and with lots of respect and open space, I don’t think training them is a bad thing, intelligent beings are know to like attention and having fun :) but yeah, I totally agree about the fact that they should have spacious sea pens instead of tiny concrete tanks.
1. Not torture 2. Bent dorsal fins do not mean a whale is unhappy. There are wild whales with bent dorsals, it just means they aren’t going deep enough for the pressure to keep the fin upright. 3. Opening a mouth is not a sign of aggression, the whale was just opening it so the trainer could feed it fish.
If someone put us in a room for 1 or 2 days we are frustrated we need big open enviorment like that these animals need big ocean to live their lives, Please help them 🙏🙏🐳🐳🐋🐋🐬🐟🐟
Though they have potential to eat those mastering them in a second, they choose to be loyal, it is sad to see these kings of ocean entertaining mere humans. Imagine what amount of torture is given while training them😒
Actually they DO NOT CHOOSE to be loyal. They PARK them HUNGRY in a covered shallow type of "carport" until showtime. Finally, IF they hit all their marks they get measly little portions of dead food. They're starving them to perform, seems natural that every once in awhile they will show they've had enough by attacking the trainer who denies them the food. It's cruel to force behavior by withholding food. Should've been doing preservation programs showing the world how important their natural habitat is to us all. This is too invasive and spends away lives for entertainment and cash. Happy this is over.
None of the animals here are caught in the wild and hasn't for 30 years or so. So these magnificent animals don't really know what the wild is like. If they never have been there what's the harm? Plus the trainers say they are fairly happy there.
Grant Cook Just so you know, you are representing that as if that makes it ok. The reason they are not caught in the wild anymore is because sea world is banned from taking them out of the wild due to their inhumane ways. Since you don't seem educated enough about these creatures that you claim are "magnificent," think about it this way, there are giant animals stuck inside of a tiny pool that they can't even swim up to full speed in, now you are telling me thats ok? So if someone is born in prison, its ok to leave them there because they're used to it, so lets just keep breeding them? Wow you need to reset your brain
The whales are so beautiful but in my humble opinion they deserve to be in the oceans 🌊 not in sea world use it them for shows or any other entertainment 🐳 🐋 !

Pretty sure the floppy dorsal fin means it’s unhappy
@@EpooNuttujib floppy dorsal fin means it's not swimming as much as it's evolutionary engineered. They swim hundreds of miles in a straight line in the wild, conditioning the muscle and keeping the dorsal fin erect. The dorsal fin has no bones or other biological structure. The collapsed dorsal fin shows that these orcas are not swimming long distances and in circles. I live in an area where we have MANY wild orcas. I'm fascinated by them and have learned about them for years.

These parks and zoos should be closed.... We have enought internet to know about animals....🙏

Basically,
Stop capturing whales and hurting them for entertainment and cash.
Edit: Also, it's literally been proven that killer whales are so smart that they have a part of their brains that process emotions and stuff, so SeaWorld and SeaLand abused the one animal that actually can process emotions like *anger.*
I also reqst everyone to stand for these beautiful creatures who born to stay freely in the vast ocean.. People should stop going to these shows.. If they don't. what's the difference? You're holding the animal against its will, right?
There's a big difference. Dogs were domesticated by humans more than 30,000 years ago. Cats were domesticated 10,000 years ago. Orcas aren't pets, they're apex predators. They're used to swimming over 100 miles per day. They dive 500 to 800 feet. The biggest tank at SeaWorld is 36 feet deep.

If you have not seen it yet download or watch the documentary blackfish, it shows you wht these fantastic creatures have that bent over fin, tragic and we all need to stop this torture
Google said its fake or something
+goldenhedgehog9 If it wasn't true Seaworld would sue. You're talking rubbish, clips are backed up with evidence.

We cant tell cause the dorsal fin is flopped over because they are depressed. A pointier dorsal fin is a Male and a curved one is a frmale
@@Enigma3097 so what credentials do you have when it comes to this? have you worked with marine animals or have you just got an email from the animal rights groups telling you this is happening . I certainly wouldn't want to make a judgement about animals feelings based on something I was not proficient at
These magnificent Orcas DO NOT belong in a pool entertaining humans.
I’m ashamed I ever took part in attending an event like this
Close sea world down
It's a fish, man.
A fucking fish... It has no feeling.
It's not a dog.
A fish, you can cook it and it would be delicious.
Why not? Because it hurts your feelings? lol
@@rtcabangwonosari4964 you’re an idiot. Everything you said is completely wrong. First off, whales are MAMMALS, not fish. And second of all, orcas aren’t even whales, they’re dolphins. They are also proved to have emotional and communicational abilities that are far superior than humans’, and orcas are by far the most intelligent marine animal out there. They have very strong family bonds and connections, and can feel strong loss and grief.
@@rtcabangwonosari4964 lol...who told u that orcas don't have feelings? In fact , they are more smarter than dogs and are also one of the most smartest mammals. Just cause you don't care about them does not make them worthless

I know right
It's a shit video whales swimming round in bath tubs
🔴Got recommended after 13years 👍🏼
It's quite surprising that even in this 21st century people are doing these kind of heinous stuff and still not getting jailed
Fully agree !!!
That does not happen randomly, if the process is properly regulated and very few whales (or any other wild creatures) were transferred to controlled environments for the benefit of human kind while not impacting the ecosystem, such practice is not wrong and has long been a necessary fact for progress to reach life as you know it today.
Keep crying we humans were born with inteligence , we have the ability to do this things , so hell yeah we gon do it wtf , blame nature for giving us this inteligence and ability to do this then, if we stop doing this is 1 less great experience for us

I Hope I can See the day when this Kind of Shows and keeping whales/ Dolphins in captivity is outlawed in all countries
@@colbstar7389
Outlawed means: No breeding. No Shows. No buying new animals.
No concrete tanks, but big sea pens, to bring them back in their natural Habitat.
And in case of "rescues": focus on Rehabilitation, not keeping them in captivity.
Otherwise its just a lame excuse to make Money.
Of course you cant let an animal born in captivity Back into the ocean
But you can give them a live as natural and free as possible.
RUclips recommended this video after 13 years ❤️😄😄😄
People enjoying but they have no idea how much they torture the whale for performance.
Sad reality.
Not torturing.
vines look at the dorsal fin on top it’s bent that means it isn’t happy and has no room to swim 😭cruel bastards
Look at there dorsal fin tin the wild
Definitely torture you can even see the whale opening his mouth to be feeded when the man comes close
1. Not torture

Happy this is over.
this is cruel they should be in the wild not a bathtub it seems big to us but to them its teeny tiny.
None of the animals here are caught in the wild and hasn't for 30 years or so. So these magnificent animals don't really know what the wild is like. If they never have been there what's the harm? Plus the trainers say they are fairly happy there.
+Kayla Fluty
I did my research, and the evidence he/she provided was true
Alyicia Roberts true but at least it isn't any smaller (look at the facts)
kat agpaoa Really, you've done research and concluded that animals enjoy being in captivity in a small confined space? That's amazing.
Absolutely Outraged.
Right
As a kid I remember thinking I just really want to swim in that huge pool.
