    I think it's cool that publishers continue to explore solo rules for games. It's a great way to learn systems and play by yourself when you can't play with friends.

      Yes, people have been playing TTRPG solo for so long and it is now becoming more popular for the reasons you stated. For me it is more about time. My life schedule is a bit crazy and I can't commit to a regular game. Solo allows me to play when I have a break in my schedule.

    I saw those two heroic abilities after I created my own character, but I didn’t know that I can choose one of them on top of the heroic ability I already have that’s pretty cool

    • @solitaryrpg

      Only if you are not a Mage, they only get one heroic ability. These are two that will really help you PC in the game and will not make them super heroes.

      I have seen that game but never played it. With all the games on the market sometimes we are not really creating anything new just recycling rules from other games. I am really happy to read your comments and that you are enjoying the videos I did for Dragonbane.

    Great video, and I wish more solo rules had adventures ready to run included - it seems like a lot of work converting combat and encounters for a ruleset you haven't used yet, where as being able to run through a couple of things first makes way more sense.

    • @solitaryrpg
      @solitaryrpg  Год назад +2

      I agree, the small adventures they have included are nice to have so we can play the game. I like how they talked about combat and you should really think about ways to avoid it. Great advise for anyone playing solo.

    Brilliant overview, thank you. The only solo rules I've used were for The One Ring and I thought they were great. This effort seems even better. I haven't received my box set yet (thanks Amazon) but I'm hoping to find a printed copy of these rules in the set.

    • @solitaryrpg
      @solitaryrpg  4 месяца назад

      The one thing that I didn't like about the One Ring was the fact that the solo rules were only a PDF. They still have not printed them and that kinda sucks. They did include them in the the box set for Dragonbane. They are different from the One Ring but they work for the game. Glad you enjoyed the video.

    Hi, thanks for the informative video! I’m thinking of buying this boxset for solo play. I’m not very experienced in solo rpgs so the solo rules seem a great addition. The boxset comes with many premade adventures. Do you think those premade adventures are playable solo with the solo rules or are they made specifically for dm role playing? Also the bestiary seems pretty small. Do you need to use different books from other systems to create different monsters to combat?

    • @solitaryrpg
      @solitaryrpg  Год назад +2

      Thank you for watching the video and commenting. The adventures were written to be run by a GM but that does not mean you can't run them solo. If you are running one PC with the solo rules you will need to make some adjustments. I normally read the adventure first and take some notes. Than put it away for a few months then play it using my notes, I find that helps with any of the information that I read that was meant for the GM. Yes the bestiary is small around 15 creatures. I am sure they will be adding more in the future. This game has been around since the 80's so I am sure we will see lots of other books for it. I don't make up monsters using other resources. I will just use stats from the rules and just make the creature work. I recently reviewed Tome of Adventure Design and it has a really detail way of creating creatures. I might give that a try with these rules. I hope this information answers your questions.

      If you’d compare Dragonbane with other systems for fantasy solo rpg, which would you recommend for a relative newcomer? I’m choosing between D&D with solo supplements, Dragonbane, Forbidden Lands, Mörk Borg, Symbaroum? Maybe some interesting ones I’m missing? I like to have nice visuals of the world and bestiary such as in D&D and Dragonbane. Thanks again!

    • @solitaryrpg
      @solitaryrpg  Год назад +1

      @@JoeToep-ow6bz Each of the systems you mentioned are different and offer different gaming experiences. I am leaning more towards Dragonbane for solo gaming because of the way the game mechanics are set up. Forbidden Lands is more about exploring on a map and they will be releasing solo rules in the next book release. Mork Borg is a game I really enjoy solo and there is an amazing solo supplement out for it. Symbaroum is the one game that I will be running solo soon. I backed Shadowdark and will be using those rules to run the 5E version of the game. It was not designed for sole but people have put out supplements for it, I have not liked them. If you are looking for rules lite so you can tell a narrative story check out my video on Into The Odd. Lite rule system with an awesome Luck rule that makes playing solo fun. In the end you need to decide if you want rules lite so you can tell more story or something a bit more crunchy so you can roll more dice. I lean more rules lite but that is just me.

    I and so many others pleaded for more creatures in the game and they wrote 16 monsters. We also pleaded for the solo rules to go in the rule book and they didn't. Free League seem to have this fetish for pretty baubles, cards, standees, and maps yet a super thin rule book, with many absentees like maritime rules, castles, dungeoneering and hex crawl rules. Overall I was rather disappointed.
    If we don't get more substance, I won't be investing more in this game.

    • @solitaryrpg

      I would like to think that they have a plan to release more content for the game in the future. It would be silly if they didn't and I am sure this will include more encounters and other ways to play the game. They recently just released some new material for Twilight 2K to include city fights. Lets give them some time and see what they have planned. For right now I am just going to enjoy what they have released.
