I love the lob off of a net ball because a lot of times they are still in the kitchen and have a bunch of ground to cover to get to the lob.

Yes!!! This is SUCH a good time to lob. Couldn’t agree more.

I was advised long ago to lob across court on the diagonal as that distance is longer from the kitchen making it have a greater chance for hitting into the court. Good advice in my book.

This is great advice! An added bonus if you can aim to your opponents backhand side!

I would suggest the best time to lob is when you are not up at the kitchen but your opponents are. This does two things 1) gets your opponents off the kitchen line & 2) gives you time to get to the kitchen line. Also easier to hit over your opponent when you are further away from them.

lot more accuracy is required, too short you'll get slammed, too long, its out. This is really a great tip and I also teach this...more success. Good job on the video

Yes it is much more difficult if you lob away from the line…it gives them more time to react to your lob. Though, one could argue it is high risk, high reward.

One really important thing left out is where to lob to. Don’t just lob pick your opponents weak hand weak side. Make them turn awkwardly to get to it and try to force their backhand hit from the baseline.

Yes! Thank you for bringing this up. Aiming to the weak hand side is a wonderful tip!

My anticipation of prolific lobbers is getting prepared for it so it will not catch you flatfooted. I will take a step back from nvz if i suspect a lob is coming and two to three steps back sideways ( turning left or right) depending on where ball is heading. Hitting a 'resetting return after the bounce ( check fot out balls and call it) , then returning lobs with 'best hand, sometimes with other hand' if necessary to 'centre area, deep at transition zone to base line., less chance of out balls. But if you have talked with partner before this, you can say any lobs behind me, you cover and you do the same for him., due to him able to track where ball is dropping from he's angle. Same time, you switch to his position across.

Good video; I have been enjoying your channel. Kinda surprised you didn't mention how to add topspin to a lob which sure helps the lob to be more effective. My mother used to be known as "Queen of the Lob" HA

Great point! Top spin can be a little more advanced but hugely important for keeping the ball in! I want to see a tutorial video from the Queen of the Lob!

Great video, but I've always disagreed with the idea that the kitchen area is the most advantageous place to be.

Sorry, but I will never have someone like you for a partner for very long. Against good players, if you don’t get to the kitchen line you don’t have a ghost of a chance to win.
