Wishing you all the best, amigo...I'm 67 and retired. You're correct, no job is ever safe. When I was working, a friend of mine frequently reminded me of how fragile our existence was as employees, by saying, "We're all going to get fired, they just haven't told us yet!"
It used to be "Learn to code, bro" now it's "Learn to plumb, bro" 😂 Learn a skilled trade. You can always go back to your main corporate job, and have your skilled trade skills to fall back on.
@luisvilla799 lol we're in a downturn in that sector of the economy. Good luck trying to get a corporate job when everyone's cutting down the fat. It's going to be even worse next year when Trump gets into office. All of the manipulation will come undone and he's going to get all of the blame. They're lying about all of the jobs data, inflation, energy market manipulation, approving Ukraine to use long range missiles to strike into Russia. This Administration can't afford to go down. If you don't believe me, ask me whatever I just pointed up there, and I'll give you the official mainstream news media article to support my claims. There's a reason why the media goes back and forth with these news article, it's to get the algorithm bots to trade on wall street. We can't afford for the US to go into a recession. Less taxes generated from capital gains.
@@PrecursorYang bro most people are so overweight in their 50s. I can't imagine that being a good move lol. Maybe plumbing isn't that bad? But try to imagine something like a mechanic in that age
To borrow from Gen Z...this is "cope". Bottom line is that the workforce needs to quickly realize how the current set of rules is extremely disadvantageous to workers. At this guy's level of skill and experience, the next job will be exactly the same. Will be lucky to string together 5-10 years at a company these days.
For me it was worse, and I resigned after they offered me with even a worse contract despite vastly outperforming. Been umployed for over a year now. So. Good luck out there, I guess.
real man anything you do is never safe, this year i lost 2 million dollar investment and damn i pretty much lost everything when you think damn life is going great that doesn't mean it will be great the next day. things can always get worst love that you are showing the raw part of your private life GL on your next chapter
@@gamificationoflife not good,I cried for many months. Went to emergency room for high blood pressure almost dying. Cause I lost all that money right before the bitcoin pump. If I didn’t I would have at least 10million by now. Biggest mistake that I will regret for the rest of my life. Went from the best year of my life to the worst in just a few months. I’m think about this daily. It’s so painful to even describe how I feel. Somehow ending up in debt just crazy man.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. More and more people need to understand that no job is safe - sadly, many software engineers don't understand this and still think "we have the advantage". Great to hear you took great care of your financial health!
You're not alone. I was laid off back in April 2023 and haven't landed a new role yet. Since then it's been applications, interviews, and ghosting. Rinse and repeat...
Ed change your RUclips name to Edthebesthire. I mean this in a positive way, no offense but you need to put out the BEST you have to offer to the world, the lazy boy is clever but sends the wrong message. Again, just a suggestion!
Remember it can be due to company scale problems rather than your own failing! The economy has been through a lot and many businesses are changing fast to try to keep up, they may come out smaller on the other end...
Damn thats cruel man... I recently subscribed to you cause I was interested in moving from Canada to the US, and I actually found out about the TN visa from your video. I wish you all the luck to find your next job, will be following you 🙏
That's why I created my own channel and started to post programming contents (solidity Blockchain) because its always what I wanted to do. No money motivation or anything. Just pure curiosity to teach it. Maybe I'll land a job. Maybe not. But atleast I am doing something where no big corporate is bossing me around to do this and do that till someday I might get laid off. And if lets say if coding totally gets extinct, then maybe I'll make my channel a vlogging channel or cooking channel or something. Life goes on. One thing we all should develop is the mindset of learning and adapting to any given situation. stay positive
I love the advise, work on what's in your control I am working on my residence permit in a foreign country I will secure my permanent stay so even if i get laid off, i wouldnt be necessarilly kick out of the country too I work in IT, and I live in fear now every day I dont really care about money, as long as am allowed to stay, I live frugal too good luck to u buddy hope u find something soon
It's never fun because it's a disruption of comfort. Comfort in routine, comfort in job. Stay positive and you will land somewhere you like better and you'll be glad it happened.
I’m jealous. I’m a software engineer and am looking to transition to my own business. I was an electrician previously. I’d love to make the same money I do writing software, but back doing trade work.
First, you don't have to leave the US in 9 days. You have to leave reasonably "speedily". Second, you are entitled to the US unemployment insurance. Apply right away.
damn bro - I didn't watch the content because I left my job 4 months ago, to take half a year break. Just so I could recharge and work on the things i like for a bit, I'm only 34. I dont think "losing" your job is an important event at all, in your life, if you always live with savings that covers you for the next few years you should be a comfortable man at all times. I didn't watch the content of the vid btw, but came here to give advice LOL
I've heard you can negotiate with your employer to still be "employed" but be paid 0 dollars to still qualify for the visa in the time you're searching for a new job
Old ex IT guy here: congrats on the “six month fund”, that makes all the difference. Don’t take being laid off personal…management’s decisions are based on metrics that resemble a “wee-jee” board. To those who say “ that will never happen to me”? Good Luck with that. If most of your network only responses “good luck”, don’t take that personal either, it’s a weird part of human nature.
I love your face btw. It’s got a very exotic vibe. Idk what it is. It’s not your regular Asian looking face. There’s like an enchanting energy to it. Much love to you ❤
You sound so robotic and corporate that either A) you should have zero issues finding a new job… or B) because you are so robotic, the robots took your position within the entire industry. 😅
Story how it happened: He worked on a job, He got fired, Trying to get some clout on the internet. . . Go an send some CV's instead of yapping on the internet. your situation isn't unique, get moving.
You look like your typical overpaid IT guy. Do us real engineers a favor and stop calling yourselves engineers. Difference between a real engineer and yourself is we can’t be outsourced.

@KrazyKrzysztof I heard of stories of some guys in their 50s joining the trade. Retired when they hit retirement age.

Sorry to hear that Donald. Hope you can find another job soon.
Sorry to hear that. Good luck.
I suggest 50 year emergency funds would be ideal 👽.( laid off in 2023 Feb , and still don't have a cashier job even 👽)
Try being a pretty girl

Furlough???
That would be fraud, I think.
I was laid off and then re hired. In this I cannot relate. But the sheer fear of redundancy is etched into my psyche.
Out of curiosity, what type of engineering did you do?
I got laid off from Tesla earlier this year
And Elon musk is going to control the government budget 🤦♀️
@ Yes very serious though!!!
