No job is safe. Important keeping living expenses low by renting a room, sharing utilities, internet, etc. Make your own meals for $3 at the most, make coffee. Buy only what you need, not want. Forget the toys. If needing car, used Honda. All your essential belongings should fit in a couple of suitcases and a backpack. Dump the rest of the junk. You can hit the road, go home, etc. I would do dollar cost averaging in Roth, individual account, rainy day cash. Need to work to be Financially Independent ASAP. Most important is to be mentally prepared and have a back up plan. I even kept a cardboard box in my office as a reminder.
Best of luck in the next one hope you get another one soon.
Discrimination plays a role. If they see your surname that's Asian looking, they may pass you over for a white guy.
It's always a blessing in disguise - don't sweat it.
loserrrrrr hahahahhahaha xdd good luck paying your expensive dues
This is an intelligent man. The same thing happened to me.
Thank you for recording and posting this valuable educational video. Wishing you peace and prosperity in your future.
Dang it! :-p. These damn companies.
This is the nature of capitalism. Resources are constantly moving from place to place seeking the most profit. Offspring and outsourcing is routine. This is why people are voting for Trump
We here in New Zealand have an expression, JOB=Just over broke. We have one of the highest self employed %of population anywhere. You are well disciplined and smart, what ever you decided to do next, you will thrive. I try to teach my teenage daughter, Savings =Freedom. And that freedom is Choice!!
I was in a similar situation ; layoff notice was about 2 hours. Hang in there ; what I recommend is having a basic resume and a separate detailed one handy
With $2,000, 000 in 401k is what these guys dont disclose 😂😂😂😂😂
a lot of people are getting laid off.
There's no such thing as job security regardless of you career and pay. I've been lied to many times. We are on borrower time when we work for a company. Every day is another day we have a job that's all nothing more.
Ha ha! You got laid off too! Karma sucks doesn't it?
I grew up in So Calif and I was laid ff more than 10 times from my engneering job in 40 years. There is no secure job except medical field. I wroked for many large aerospace and small industrial companies. Large aeropsace companies - worked on govrnment defense contracts and subjected to presidential election, DEmocratic president always cut defense so evvery 3 - 4 years. Small conpaies - Often bought out or merged with large corpoartion, and they cut heads frist thing. Don't rely on 6 month emergncy funds. I was out of work for almost 18 months in depression. always lived on 20/50/30 rule; 20 Tax, 30 + Saving. I now live comfortable in a low cost red state on Social Security, small pension, and healthy 401K.
As As American developer we do not need overseas developer working here anymore. Enjoy your life where you were born. We need lay offs of foreign developers.
learn to code? Good luck bro.
Been telling the same thing to my colleagues, especially more junior ones: make sure you have solid emergency fund. It takes time (money essentially) to regroup and find a new opportunity.
Dang, Donald, that sux.
Okay
Dang, Donald Dang. That sucks. My names Donald too, that’s half the reason I clicked. If we were friends our group would have to call you double D so we wouldn’t get mixed up. But I stayed to hear your story and appreciate you putting this out there
Which tech company?
You are strong ! We are rooting for you ! Wish you the best ! Stay strong ! Thanks for the advice !
2yrs after i moved into my house. Iwas diagnosed cancer. The following year, new management came in. As i was going back to the hospital and Drs, to check for any remaining cancer. New management came in. And I was let go. Fortunately, i had saved 3 months of monthly expenses. I found a job 2 months later. I now have 6 months of emergency funds.
U can't trust nobody I work 5 cleaning jobs and they need me if I lose one I get another and always have money I make more money now than I ever have in my life and I'm 64 still working and haven't touched my social security yet
Tech jobs have never been secure, that's why I left the field over 30 years ago and never had any regrets.
You don’t need a visa to live in usa from Canada, job visa maybe, so u don’t need to move right away or sell your stuffs😊
The Hollywood strike has left many in the visual effects industry, like myself, unemployed for over 15 months. Let this be a reminder to everyone to build an emergency fund.
You are learning a good life lesson early in life. Getting involved with females is another one, but they are worse. Never, ever make yourself vulnerable to them. Ever.
Time to start your own business !!
Hey, this is what Americans voted for. 🤷♂
Wishing you the best!
“Fix what is in your control “ is good advice. Wishing you all the best in the future.
Wishing you the best! Blessings are on the way!!
anytime you have a "meeting" with your boss's boss, especially when you never talk to them, then it's pretty clear the outcome.
Once someone told me, that the easier way to layoff is giving a rise just before. Good luck man, you can do it !
I got laid off in my 40s. I did some consulting, but made real money cutting grass. $25/yard making $50/hour. It's hard work. 8 months later, I landed making that much plus benefits. They were impressed with my resourcefulness. 20 years later, I retired with a pension and a nice 401K. My best advice is to network and look outside of the box.
Dang, during tRump's 1st term I was taxed out of my retirement savings... $100,000 gone! I should have bought gold instead of investing in the stock market!
No matter how secure you think you are in your job, you should always be looking for another job. You are your only security.
Always a blessing in disguise. Better things ahead.❤❤❤
Wow, man The algorithm recommended me your video. Good luck getting your visa sorted out That’s gotta be stressful All the best

Donald truck driver job perfect replacement and second chance for you
Absolute aholes, they basically gave you no tangible warning, its not just a job problem you now have a visa issue.
Did you work at a FANG company?
I got laid off twice in a row two different customer service jobs. At least the second layoff they made sure we all got paid and got unemployment.
The very sad thing is, I can’t think of a single company that won’t get rid of people who have earned their wages. Meaning, they layoff the talented experience people because they make more money and they replace them with new people. They do not care what they do to peoples lives. Everything is temporary these days and it’s disgusting.
I was laid off in March of 2024 and 600 applications later, I finally landed a new job in a factory manufacturing printed circuit boards for the U.S. Military. It's a bit different than the office/data entry work I was doing before.
