    Thanks Tim! Really enjoyed listening and playing along to this track. I’m also playing an Epi es335. Always been a Gibson Les Paul kinda guy, but having bought this Epi on a whim, it has spun everything on its head!! Nice hybrid picking by the way 😉

    Question for you Tim. I’m looking for a mahogany flattop acoustic to play jazz on. I really like 12 fret guitars. In your experience, is access past the 12th fret a dealbreaker for acoustic jazz?

    • @TimLerchGuitar
      @TimLerchGuitar  Месяц назад

      I also love 12 frets to the body. I don’t think it’s a deal breaker, especially if the guitar has a beautiful sound on the lower frets.

      @@paulgerards6494 I like it a lot. I’m not really a 335 guy, but sometimes this one just fits the bill.

    Scofield tone without the chorus.

      Definitely Sco’s slightly behind the beat phrasing. I used to go see Sco in small clubs in Massachusetts and Connecticut in the late 70’s-early 80’s. At that time he was playing a cherry ES335 with Ernie Ball .010’s, (I asked him) and most often through a Polytone Mini Brute. This is definitely the vibe! I wonder if Tim is replicating this consciously or subconsciously.

      @@kenster3554thanks for listening and commenting. this is just the way that I play with this type of groove etc. I am not consciously emulating Sco, although I love his playing. I am conscious of chromatically enhanced blues material and relaxed phrasing of double time phrases etc. I have a feeling that if I had recorded this with a telecaster the comments about who I’m reminding people of would change. Although while I’m not bothered by comparisons to other fine players, the comparisons often are only surface things, we each have our own voice.
