Omg wow Alex, is this your 5th video posted today?! You're an absolute beast bro, great job growing the channel. RUclips algorithm approves. Appreciate the content
Addressing the negatives: - It does take up a lot of table space. We can barely fit 3 players on our dining room table. - The resource tracking is not the best, and it adds to the table footprint. I don't hate it as much as some people do. - All those upgrade costs, yeah . . . Why they didn't include a quick reference for them, I don't know. I ended copying and pasting a PDF of the rules to make my own. Or have the rule book at hand. - I did think the deterministic combat would be boring, but I ended up really liking it. If you'd rather roll dice, the expansion adds that element. - If you go into your first game with the idea that you are learning a new game, rather than it being immediately cutthroat, then the number of upgrades isn't really a barrier. - This game cannot turn into a "perfect optimization puzzle" because: 1) You will have a different pilot/mech combo every time you play; 2) The mutants and contracts (not to mention the specialists and pilot upgrades) are constantly changing, as is the turn order; 3) The upgrades and planet spaces are limited enough that other players may thwart your plans. Yes, you can follow similar strategies each time (if you want to, though that may not always be wise), but it will never end up being the same game.
I backed this with the expansion. Very much looking forward to it, and not feeling different after seeing your review. Wonder if you got production minis and what you thought of them. I'm quite confident I will be painting mine which adds a lot of value simply for hobby enjoyment.
I think I’m glad I passed on this one. I like the mechs theme. I had also passed on Core Clash even though I liked the theme, but the gameplay lacked complexity. Hopefully another mech game comes along that I’ll want to buy into.
Reminds me of Starship Samurai with a little bit of Champions of Midguard (Blood Rage for Couples). Wonder if Recess Games (My FLGS) will be getting it.
Thx a lot. Best Gameplay overview I saw from this game. Would like to love it, but I think this game is missing ot something that the fighting is without exitment. It is about mechs, why is all about resources and calculations?
@@BoardGameCo Woah, this word I had to look up. Yes, I guess so, a dichotomy. That why I tried to back this game 3 Times and did not. And that it need such a big table also killed it. Thx again.
Yes, it reminds me of Lords of Waterdeep, without the fun intrigue cards or Lords. Also having all the upgrade available from the start to me would be like Lords of Waterdeep having all the buildings available at the start of the game. Looks to me like a simple race to get stuff. I will stick with Lords and the Scoundrels expansions.
I saw Galaxy! Mechs! Space!.. 8 minutes later I was thinking "I don't get it. This doesn't feel to me like mechs fighting and battling monsters in space. Do you just move around tokens and cubes?" Apparently not a game for me. Ha! Thanks for the vid though man
I backed this, only thing that sounds “bad” about this game is the resource tracker. Everything else sounds amazing. Worker placement with giant mechs, it just have to be better than another farming simulator. I was going to get Anachrony this month, but then this showed up so I went with this instead. Anachrony will have to wait for next month 🤓
This one looked kinda cool, but I didn't back it because a) it didn't look like it was going to fund b) there was a competition to get a free copy (assuming it funded) that closed only hours before the campaign finished. After watching your review, my assessment remains that it was interesting, but probably not worth backing for me.
This sounds really fun because I love Lords of Waterdeep, but it would never hit the table for me because my wife just does not like Sci-fi themes at all...
Your wife wold hate.....hate...hate...the HBO show "Raised by Wolves", it is dripping with Sci-Fi. If you are ever trying to make your wife angry, watch that show with her. It's a really good show btw.

I think Alex is just a computer simulation and not real...😉
Lol, saturday is review day...however many there are :)

Minis were great :)
Alex, do you prefer this to Waterdeep?
No, Lords is much more streamlined.
Did you play the expansion? I'd be interested to know if you, or anyone else, has (and what you think about it, of course).
No, base only sorry.
Looks fun. I like upgrades too!
Yes :) One of my fav things in games.
Alex, could u do a vid on uprising? I’m still on the fence abt it, and ur vid help us decide🌹
The acrylic standee game? I did a should you back it video but not a review.

There will always be something.
I'm in on the Kemet campaign from a couple months ago so I think I'm good.
Yes! Kemet is amazing :)
Reminds me of Starship Samurai with a little bit of Champions of Midguard (Blood Rage for Couples). Wonder if Recess Games (My FLGS) will be getting it.
Totally hear that on both counts. If the theme and upgrades interest you, it's worth checking out.
Thx a lot. Best Gameplay overview I saw from this game. Would like to love it, but I think this game is missing ot something that the fighting is without exitment. It is about mechs, why is all about resources and calculations?
Ya it's an interesting dichotomy.
@@BoardGameCo Woah, this word I had to look up. Yes, I guess so, a dichotomy. That why I tried to back this game 3 Times and did not. And that it need such a big table also killed it. Thx again.
This very much reminds me of dinosaur world to a T. A board hog, resource management and worker placements, hex tiles and visually noisy.
Ouch, it doesn't make me look forward to dinosaur world.
Sounds fun but I'm glad I avoided backing it.
Much happier with Perseverance filling that Euro slot in my new collection.
Perseverance is another I'm looking forward to :)
Now you're telling me?! AFTER I've backed it?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But seriously,, thanks for this extensive review 👍
Ya sorry :( Got the game shortly before the campaign ended and couldn't get a full play in before it ended.
I backed and am looking forward to it but I really don't like the resource trackers...way too fiddly and much worse than dealing with lots of tokens.
Ya, that was one of my least favorite parts. Overall the game was good, just too many fiddly stuff for me to want it myself.

Makes sense. The upgrading is more fun than Lords but Lords is overall more streamlined.

You really went on a rampage today.
Lol :) Saturday is a busy day, all reviews drop.

Yep, I think it's a good game, just a little messy too.
difusion, or nd on the windows or French flags between light source and game to cut down the glair
Thanks, I need to work on that, this one was even harder due to the table hog aspect.
no guts no galaxy why are you not playing battletech music
I should :)

@@CB-yh3db Yeah I have been watching it and loving it, she wants nothing to do with it.
Ya, stick with Lords then. Missing some of the fun upgrading, but a more streamlined game.
I like the mecha, but I think I'd rather have a mech combat game. I dunno how I feel about this.
Yup, it's an interesting zone.
WTF IS HAPPENING lol so many videos. I'm guessing you messed up the upload schedule or you don't sleep. Either one is good.
Not sleeping :) Saturday is review day, even it means dropping 5 videos.
