Jody, there is an easier way to make skins. Paint directly on to the tile. Than when the tiles is dry put it into a bucket of water and the skins will slide right of after a few hours of soaking.
I think this is great. Much of what I have learned over the months of watching countless recordings has been threw this woman. She is a very god teacher and very inspiring for me. I would most always learn by watching her. Thanks Jody. You are the best in my opinion of all. C. Burgess.
OMG ! I don’t have any words to describe how awesome your art is. Everything you do is so good. I loved what you did on the spinner you need some wrap and seal Lon the spinner it self. Keep up the good work. I love watching you do your art. 😎❤️
Thank you so much Diane I truly appreciate that! 🤗. I thought about trying to put some freezer paper on my spinner for these little panels to catch the runoff but let the whole thing dry as is and then take it off. It would be both the panel and the extension 😃. I’ll have to see how that works out, thanks for the idea 🤗💜🤗
Hi Jodie! 😅 You are such a breath of fresh air. You keep me smiling! Your calm sweet teacher style is so enjoyable to watch & listen to. So easy to hang on every word you speak. Your tutorial(s) are spot on w/detailed tips, recipes & information that anyone interested in this type of art have to be inspired & can get started after listening to just one video. It's all right here. Love the colors you used & the bloom skins they created. You are a joy, an 😇 & a 🌟. Thank you is but an understatement! 😊🙏🏼🤩😍🥰😊🐰❣💕🌻
Your paintings really amaze me. Every time I watch one of your reels.. it's beautiful work every time. I hope I can get half as good as you are thanks for all the information and sharing that you give up for what you do and how you get your results
Hi Jodie, it’s me again!😉. I love that idea of doing the skins and putting it on the bottom of like a tray. Or the top of a box and resin it. I’m so glad I found this video. Thank you so much for all that you do and the ideas you give out. I may have to try this
Opening up my eyes to endless possibilities with this one Jodie 👀😳. Fab ideas. I’ve made some bezels with some skins in the past but not with Shelee’s bloom technique. Loved the Press n Seal and the Freezer paper idea. Awesome and especially your sharing of how to mount and dismount the papers. Too generous girl but fabulous. This is one grateful follower. You’re so clear in how you explain your every step. I learnt so so much in such a little time. You rock 🙏🏻🤩😝
For scrapbook or sketchbook artists, this method is great for backgrounds. Paste skins on watercolor paper, or canvas then paint a treeline or landscape over it. Or add collage elements overlaid, any thing from butterflies, gems, to dragons and princesses to sci-fi surreal worlds . I have some mylar 12 x 12, 7 mil laying around from a stencil project, I might give it a whirl as a substrate . You have a great ability to inspire others. Thank you for that.
thank you, thank you, THANK. YOU. JODIE!!! you are a talented artist and a fantastic teacher! this is exactly what I’ve been searching for. so grateful I’ve found your channel as I begin my pouring journey🙏🏾✨🙏🏾😊😊
Thank you kindly Jodie for all you share with us! These are beautiful! ❤Color choices are great! Another option I use are the reusable plastic cutting board protectors. Approx 12x15 🤔 from The Dollar Tree. You get 2 in a pack and can reuse forever! 🎉 🥳 Happy New Year to all! 🎉 🥳
Absolutely Hazel, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! And thank you so much for the tip, I’ll be looking for those at my dollar tree 😃 Happy New Year to you 💜💜
Beautiful work! And, great tips, too. I’ve always hated the mess made from doing pours on canvas or wood panels. I really like the idea of using the wrapped tiles. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Hi Jodie, I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm really enjoying your artwork, I think it's fantastic. The blooms you did are absolutely gorgeous, the colours look amazing together. Thank you so much for sharing your time, talent, and your creativity with us. I look forward to seeing your next youtube video, kind regards Pamela 🙂
Thanks for the inspiration. Beautiful work. Now I'm going to have to try this again with the freezer paper. Who needs a canvas. I'm thinking just use a the freezer paper. It's such a shame to see you lose the edges. Just georgeous work.
Jody as always you amaze me! Your work is so beautiful 😊❤Thank you for all your hard work and teaching! I know you don't have to do this, but I for one really appreciate all you do to help all of us! 👏👍🏼🤟👋🥰
I guess im randomly asking but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Asher Aidan thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
No worries at all! The freezer paper here in the states if you buy at like Walmart or Target for the roll I showed in the video it’s about $4.00. For the press n seal roll the clear paper at the same stores it’s about the same price. It’s pretty cheap here. Maybe you have some other nonstick paper in France? It needs to be nonstick paper so maybe search that way and you can find something cheaper? Also, I heard someone say they’ve used plastic garbage bags to make skins. I haven’t tried it but maybe if you have that give it a try see if it works ... Just some ideas 😃
All I can say is WOW and then WOW! They are just beautiful!! So many good ideas on what to do with the skins. I haven't made any skins out of paint yet, but want to try. Do you have a video that shows how to get the cells? I'm not sure what to mix with the paint. Thanks
An easier way to remove the paper or stretch n seal is to use a utility knife on the back side edge. The front and back will just break away from each other
Great ideas! I wonder about pouring on the tile directly and using as coasters? So many possibilities. Your skill and Shari g are amazing. Thanks so much!!
How can I get the beautiful accessory to stick on the back of a cell phone please? I am in Quebec. I really like what you do, thank you for sharing your knowledge! 😊
I've seen other artists who pour directly on plastic protector pieces and they don't start with the white base color. That way, when the skins are dry, you have the potential for designs on both sides of the skin (though one side usually has a lot more "drama" than the other). Is there a particular reason why you start with a white base?
This is the 1st time I've seen your videos and must say you're so lovely..your work is beautiful darling..So much so that I'd really like to do this,to use on the tiles in my bathroom, but I have no clue as to whether or not I could waterproof them..any advice would be appreciated..Also Thankyou for sharing and tutoring..TIA..☮️🇬🇧
Thank you so much Kat, I really appreciate that. I have no experience with doing this art form for tiles for the bathroom so I really can’t comment on how to go about it. Maybe search for that specifically here on RUclips and see if someone has done this method.
I think I must’ve missed something - do you wrap the times with both press’nseal AND freezer paper? Or is it an either/or kinda thing? If so, which works better? Thank YOU! (Excited for your next video) 🤗
No it's either or, the press and seal leaves a bit of texture since the press and seal itself has texture on it but I thought it was pretty cool. If you want a more clean, smooth look then go with the freezer paper. They both work well just a little difference in texture.
Thank you so much 🤗 the spinner I was using in this video was a metal cake spinner I got from Amazon. Link to it is in the description box below the video in my Amazon Storefront if you want to check it out or search for something similar 🤗
Thanks for this interesting & informative video!! Your work & colour combos are xcellent!! ❤ I like the paper/plastic on tile idea - it makes for easy, uniform & lightweight storage if you are making things in bulk - just one adventage😂. I'm from South Africa & don't think we have a prouct called freezer paper here - it looks like a very handy product to have lying around - especially for fluid art!! All those overspills from tilting, spinning etc. Could also be turned into skins & stored if we used that to cover our work areas.😊. It looks nice & strong & probably reasonably affordable too? (We do get press & seal) Any idea what other name Freezer paper might be called?? Thanks again for excellent presentation ❤
I’m glad it helped Joanne, freezer paper is kind of the generic term but I know they use it to pack up meat like from the butcher so maybe butcher paper also? There’s a slippery side and a matte side usually, you would use the slippery side that doesn’t stick. You could also use silicone mats (without the tiles) if you can’t find any of the freezer paper. The press and seal leaves a texture but it does work well.
Jodie1! Ok. I knew if I looked through your videos I'd find what I needed. I'm choosing to take a break from making my coasters Almost was done with acrylic pouring as my eyes were sick of it! I put over 100 tiles away. They won't get resined. I'll figure out later what to do. But....I'm going to give it a go on bracelets. Have some cuff blanks coming. So I'm going to make some skins using your ideas. I was going to pour on parchment paper because I just purchased a bulk box. But tape won't stick to it to tack it down to tile, so I'll try the stretch and seal. Once I peel it and glue it on blank, should I varnish then? Or should I varnish the skin first and then cut and glue? Resin won't work right because it would harden too much and not be flexible or I'd have to have a cup spinner if I tried after right? Any suggestions? Thank you!!
Hi Jodie2 🤗 just remember the press & seal does add a bit of texture to the skin whereas the freezer paper does not. You could also try silicone mats to make your skins. So far I’ve only used my skins for pendants and I’ve resined them but something to be put on a curved surface I really can’t say what will work best, you may need to experiment with that to find the best way for what you are trying to make maybe do one varnish and one resin as a test to see how it works out and then wear them to see how they hold up. Hope this helps! 💜
Thank you so much 🤗. I don’t make a lot of jewelry with my paint skins anymore but you can cut them to size to fit in the blank trays for bracelets, pendants and earrings. I used to do that for pendants. Some of the pendants and earrings come with the glass cabochon and I would use those to trace out my skins. 😊
Hello my dear. Love your work. Thank you for sharing. I’m wondering why I have so many bubbles In my paint. My pm is 1:1 glidden base 3 & Jo Sonja. I have soooooo many bubbles. What am I doing wrong. Also how do you gage for the amount of paint for your pillow for different size boards. Thank you so much💜
Hi Loretta, thank you so much! Is your PM really thin at a 1:1 ratio with the jo sonja? Did you just mix them or have they been sitting awhile? Have you noticed with your Glidden base alot of bubbles before or did you just start using it? If it’s new, did they shake it for you at the store or did you have to stir it up when you opened it? I’m only asking all these question because it could be a few things for your bubbles and all of those I just asked can cause bubbles ☺️. For the pillow I usually just eyeball it on the canvas putting enough in the center so it spreads out but doesn’t go over the edge. If you don’t feel like you have enough after you put your colors on, you can always add more around your bloom. I do this all the time because I used to use too much pillow! Let me know about the bubbles and maybe we can dial it in a bit more! ☺️💜
Hi there, I mix them right away. I don’t feel it’s too thin with 1:1 but I don’t know if I’m doing it right. I stir the paint myself. The bubbles have been they right from the start. Even when I was doing 2:1 and 3:1. I changed the ratio thinking it would reduce the bubbles. Should I change the pm recipe? I’m open to anything. Thank you so much.
Hi Loretta, maybe try letting your paints sit once you mix them for a few hours or overnight to reduce the bubbles. I always have bubbles when I first mix my paints but I let them sit at least a few hours before I use them if not overnight. How’s your pillow paint is that bubbly too? I’ve had issues with overly bubbly pillow once in that I had to go buy a new can because it was just the can and nothing I was doing. For the pillow don’t let them shake it at the store that produces a ton of bubbles. If you do, let that can sit about a week to give bubbles a chance to dissolve. Also when you stir your paints try to stir them gently not moving your stick up and down but only around in a circle slowly. I’ve had to slow my stirring as well. I hope these suggestions help you!! 💜
Yes, I take the paper off the tile first, once everything is dry, before I peel off the skin. I do show it in detail in the video so you may want to go back and rewatch 💜
Thank you, I'm thinking of doing necklaces soon. I have to master the blow. Can I ask if the way you do it is easier than most? How long did it take you to get it down? TIA ❤️
You’re welcome Jamie 🤗 just consistently practice it when you can, I can’t say my way is the easy way it’s just the way I do it that came natural for me with how I wanted my cells to form. Try different ways to know what feels right for you and how you want your cells to form. Some days my game is way off other days it’s on point. I still struggle with it 💜
This technique is a bit trickier than other fluid art techniques, while you can use alternative varieties your results may vary. Find what works well for you and have fun with it 🤗🌺
wow ! love your thick lacing and gorgeous cells. Is that Aussie Floetrol you used or USA Floetrol ? Just Beautiful Jodie ! i enjoy your videos so much !
Thank you so much Donna! I mostly use the AUS floetrol but I do like to experiment! I’ve noticed if I put too little CA down my lacing is a lot thinner so I try to find that middle ground and sometimes when I put too much CA down the lacing can be even thicker!
Jody, there is an easier way to make skins. Paint directly on to the tile. Than when the tiles is dry put it into a bucket of water and the skins will slide right of after a few hours of soaking.

Hi, just one question! how do you use the paint skins to make jewellery? thank you and I love your work!
Beautiful work! What makes the cells come out?
Thank you Irene 🤗 the cell activator I used here was a mix of Australian floetrol & paint. Exactly what is in the description box below the video 💜
Thank you for teaching us how to do skins. You do say um constantly you might want to be aware of this.
Thank you so very much 😘💜
Btw. Would you ever consider private lessons. I’m very interested💜
Thank you for sharing. I have to ask what state are you in
Sure thing Ann, I’m in Illinois 😊
I’m sorry I missed part of the video do I take the paper off the tile? Thanks Terri
I still struggle with it 💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer thank you Jodi
Can I do this on tumble stone tile an how do I seal the tile. Thanks Terri
I’m not quite sure what tumble stone tile is, I’ve only ever done it on regular cheap white tiles 😊
Can I use any acrylic paint for this pour? Thanks Terri
