Hi Jodie, I'm thoroughly enjoying watching your videos 2 and 3x over. You're a fabulous artist. I love how you explain and show what you are doing in detail. Thank you sooo much! Its so generous that you share your ideas and recipes. I randomly clicked on a video that showed pour painting and I can't stop! My husband is an artist and has been painting for a long time. Well I just blew him away knocking out 2-3 canvases a day!..ps I can't draw a stick figure to save my life and never dreamed of painting wall-worthy pics!🌞💛
Hi Elle 🤗 You’re so welcome I’m so glad I’ve been able to help with your art journey. I can relate, I was elated to find fluid art as I could never draw a stick figure to save my soul myself 💜
Hi there! I've just found your channel and I wanted to thank you so much for your detailed videos. I've learned more watching a few of your videos than I have watching months of other instructional videos! I think you are so clear, and have a great way of teaching - not to mention your stunning works of art! I feel that I now have a much better understanding of pouring mediums and how thick they should be, along with producing a good CA. Thank you SO much for all of your videos. Keep up the good work!
wow what a beauty! i just love your paintings...i really dig your vibrant deep jewel toned colors mixed with elemental and earthy tones as well...just wonderful work. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Jodie, another gorgeous painting. I love the colours you have used, it looks amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your time, talent, and your creativity with us. Looking forward to your next video, kind regards Pamela 🙂💜
I would love video of all of your mixing combos. Good talking without music. Good length, too. Thank you. Just went shopping. Let’s see how the Infinity ($$$$) goes!
And I just finished filming it as we speak 😬 .. I have one more to release before the mixing video where I use the Behr/Infinity/JS as my PM on a piece then the mixing video will have both PMs as well as colors mixed up to compare. If you’ll notice I have not played music this whole year (besides intro) I’m feeling a bit more comfortable doing it, thanks for pushing me 🥰
Me too, I can’t wait to resin it! That bougainvillea is something else but I’m not sure they have it anymore. I just ordered some more newer colors and a couple staples and don’t remember seeing that one. That TLP meteorite is off the hook, I totally dig it, is it silver is it gold it’s almost like a mix of the two! 🥰🥰
@@ThePaintedDreamer are you liking the Poly? I see now they are like, don’t use this, only JS. I did a small batch of my “golden” SW HGTV to 3:1 to JS to try after Debra’s live, it’s pretty thick, if you use any tube paint it leaves a mound and a 3 second trace. I’ll never be able to blow that lol.
@@tcridenour1 I do really like the poly now that I’ve used it, I feel it’s just as good as the JS but what’s nice about it is if you get a thicker base it will help thin it because it’s so thin. I’m having weird issues with it drying right now because of my studio environment is so dry but I really like it!
Your work is absolutely stunning!! 💝💝💝 I’m an artist that does detailed drawings in graphite, so this type of art is a complete departure from what I do and I have become obsessed, lol! THANK YOU for sharing your recipes and techniques. You do an excellent job with your videos and are genuine and personable. I’m also a midwest girl and a Pisces. My head is often in the clouds. 😀 haha!
You’re very welcome, thank YOU! I love it!! A fellow Midwest girl AND a Pisces. My head is always in the clouds and “dreamy” hence the dreamer part of my art name 😃 .. that’s so awesome you do detailed graphite drawings! Welcome to your new addiction 😬 let me know if I can ever answer any questions, happy to help!
I just subscribed to your channel. OMG,that is one of these most gorgeous paintings I have ever seen. I am ready and willing to start learning with you.
I love using them to pour on! I have one clock in my studio that I made from a record but it was a failed attempt as it cracked as I drilled a hole to put the mechanics in. That was the only clock I’ve made I have been afraid to try again for fear of ruining the piece! But I’ll try again eventually. Once I do get it down I’ll definitely create a tutorial on it! 🥰
Yea but the hole isn’t big enough for the clock mechanics to go through. Have you found clock mechanics that fit through a record hole without having to make the hole bigger? If so, I’d love to know where that would solve all my problems 😃😃💜
Thank Diane 🤗 pieces are usually dry to the touch within 24-48 hours depending on the size but you want to let them cure so all the layers can full dry. Not doing so can invite mold and or cloudiness to form under your varnish or resin. I usually let my pieces cure for at least a month if it’s 12” and under. Over 12” I’ll let sit up to two months. Your environment will play a big role in how fast or slow your pieces cure.
You are amazing and I have learned so much from you and get such inspiration too. I have a question on how do you plug the record hole on top so it doesn’t show through the paint
I’m so glad my videos have helped Ginger! 🤗 I just put a tiny little piece of tape over the hole (same tape I use on the back, frog tape is what I use). I’ve not had a problem with it showing when dried. Hope this helps! 💜💜
Will do Deb! I’ve got one more demo with this Infinity I want to do and then I’ll sit down and do a mixing video of a couple PM variations using the Infinity 😃
Thank you so much Penny! I actually have a beginners tutorial on the blooms technique if you want to start there. It’s video #36, I took the Shelee Art course and learned the technique, ingredients to use etc from her. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have! ☺️💜
Thanks for the tip on filling cracks. I see lots of pigment recipes with Behr / JoV .....yet you add .5 Polycrylic to it. I am wondering why....what benefit do you see fro adding that into your recipe?Thank you and as always, it is a pleasure to learn from your videos.
You’re very welcome Liz! I added the poly just to thin the mixture out that much more because the Behr is so thick. I really just threw it in and liked what I saw. You can totally use just the Behr/JS if you prefer 🥰
Your painting is stunning, Jodie! And, I was excited about buying the HGTV Infinity Base C to try it out, but when I went to the Lowe's website just now, it says they are no longer selling it! I don't know if that means just here in California, or nationwide. I'm wondering if you have had that same problem or if you've heard of them discontinuing this product? If it isn't available, what would be your 2nd favorite PM? As it is, here in Calif. we can only get the Behr 2-8300, not the straight 8300 and I don't know whether it is identical or not. Thanks for any input you might have!
Hi Kimberly! Typically the base 3, deep bases etc that they use to tint won’t be on their websites because they don’t want someone to accidentally buy an untinted base (they apparently don’t know about us!). They do have it in store to buy the base c. Also, the Behr 2-8300 I’m hearing is NOT the same as the 8300. At some point I’d like to get my hands on it so I can compare it. But I absolutely love the Infinity by itself like if I could pick only one base to use ever or was only allowed one ever it would now be the Infinity. 😃
@@ThePaintedDreamer Thanks so much for your response, Jodie! I just returned from buying the Infinity from Lowe's. Given that the Behr 2-8300 isn't the same as the 8300, are you saying that you would use only the Infinity and Jo Sonja Varnish and that's all for a good PM? If so, what would be your ratio of the Infinity to the Jo Sonja? I really appreciate your insights!
@@kimberlyaltman5535 Yep! If I had to pick just one it would be the Infinity base and JS works amazing with it. I mixed it up at a 3:1 ratio. For pigments or thinner paints you might want to mix it at 4:1 but see what works best. I just put out a mixing video today on the Infinity if you want to check it out for a visual. 😃
@@ThePaintedDreamer I am running to watch your video and thanks for such wonderful support!! I really enjoy your videos and your colors are always so gorgeous!
FYI Jody...The 2-8300 is the NEW can..I live in California and the Lowe’s paint person said “they discontinued the # 8300 years ago”...and the that the 2-8300 is the same product.😎
Have you tried the new 2-8300? Does it look the same and act the same? Sometimes what the paint people say is different than what actually is considering most of them don’t get how we use this paint so I’m super curious! I’d love to get my hands on a 2-8300 to compare it with my 8300 😊
Thank you 🤗 with the cell activator I’m using, typically it’s Australian floetrol and paint but I explain everything I’m using in each video and it’s also listed in the description box below each video if you want to see what was specifically used in this one 🤗
Hi Jodie, I wanted to revisit this video, like I do with many of yours!! I now have the infinity, the jo Sonja and... Australian Floetrol! I'm a mini Jodie. Cept mine don't look nea
Near as beautiful as yours! Couple questions. Do you have a video using the miniwax and the Behr or the Infinity? Or another polycyclic? The Jo Sonja is just difficult for me to buy here in Hawaii. I'd love to watch a video and see you experiment with triple thick or miniwax! My blooms are a million times better after watching you! I love the sherwin williams to go. But I pour a super thin pillow. I also realize I use about 5 times more cell activator than you! I'm going to experiment with a smaller amount. Anyway just wanted to comment because I love your teachings and appreciate it so much!
Hi Jodie! Oh yay! You got the Infinity, hands down that is my favorite now (I love the other ones I’ve used but this is now my favorite)! My video #74 where I go in depth with the infinity I experiment with both the jo sonja and the polycrylic so hopefully that helps you. I can’t use the polycrylic or the Minwax one coat right now, for some reason it’s drying weird for me and I think it’s environmental because I’ve used them before just fine so for now take a look at that video, it should help. Ignore the fact I got a bad quart of the infinity lol haha! It still works the same ☺️ .. totally experiment with your CA and how much you put down, putting down more vs less will give different results. Part of the reason I think your pillow is thinner is you are in a warmer environment so keep that in mind it may be hard to get a thicker pillow. Have fun and let me know if you need anything else!! 😃💜💜
HI Jodie! To me, you are the queen of blooming. Always so pretty. It was fun watching your video! 8 just got some josonya varnish so excited to try it out. Have you played with PPG base 3 semi gloss? It's called ultra hide zero and worked for me and miniwax. My next experiment. 🥳
Hi Jodie! Aww thank you so much! Oh good you got your hands on the jo sonja! There’s just something about it that makes the blooms that much more I feel. I have not tried any PPG base 3 bases as of yet, did you get it from Home Depot or the PPG store? I’m working my way through Lowe’s bases haha! Then I have one from Ace Hardware but I’ll certainly put it on the list. My goal is to test out bases from each store so there are a lot of options 😃
@@ThePaintedDreamer I'm pretty sure I got it at home depot, and maybe it was a bit cheaper? So for pm I'm thinking 2 parts PPG one part josonya and 1/2 part mini wax? Or you think I should just try 2 to 1 with the PPG to josonya? I'm going to try your CA recipe too! It's a playday!
@@jodietanino6955 The PPG what is the consistency of it, is it thicker like the Behr, thinner like the Glidden or in the middle like the infinity? That’ll give me a better clue for ratios to recommend. I would leave the Poly out for now unless you need it to thin but if the base is medium to thin then I would do 3:1 ratio. If it’s thicker then try 2:1 .. have fun!!! 😃😃😃
Beautiful.. great tutorial, very informative, helpful tips. Thank you for sharing. I assume, the base paint is supposed to be without primer? Don’t you ever use silicone? I’m just a beginner, tried PVA glue recipe, didn’t filter floetrol at the beginning as you suggested, might’ve been the reason or something else, it didn’t work, almost no cells. Now I’m planning to follow your steps. Cheers 🌷
Thank you Feryal, I’m so glad it’s helpful! The paint base especially in the US most of them have primer in it so it’s fine that it’s in there. The blooms technique was designed to be used without silicone utilizing the Australian floetrol to make your cells. I do have a beginners tutorial on the blooms technique, video #36, which might help you but I also highly recommend taking the Shelee Art Course as well, it’s how I learned this technique 😊 .. let me know if you have any other questions 💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer I have subscribed to your channel and will watch all your videos. Just checked, mine is FLD6, American made floetrol. Thank you so much for your time🙏
Jody...there is an Artist....Arisa Roo Art....she tested Mineral Spirits with “your” Behr instead of Polycrylic....people are complaining about the smell of the Poly.....She has come up with a recipe to take the place of Australian 🇦🇺 Floetrol ( since it is so hard for us to come by) too.....you are the bestest teacher...thank you...My husband ran to Lowe’s for the Behr for me...I do not have the Invinity...what to do?...Cheryl
Hi Cheryl! I saw Arisa’s videos yes and totally want to try her CA recipe! I need to go get mineral spirits though as I don’t have any here. Actually the Behr is at Home Depot and the Infinity came from Lowe’s so if he went to Lowe’s .. maybe he could get that 😬😬 .. you can totally use the Behr by itself I just haven’t been able to come up with a ratio that works for me as of yet so I’m usually just adding it to other bases. 😃💜💜
Never!! Haha!! Bring em on 😃 .. Yayyy! I’m so glad you got some now! You won’t regret it! if you mean filtering like straining for chunks with the US floetrol, no I haven’t found that I’ve had to do that with the AUS floetrol ☺️
@@gottalovehorses9802 The different cells that appear can be random by the way I'm blowing them but they are made with the cell activator(s) I use in each video. I go over that at the beginning of each video and also there's a list of everything used in the description box below each video :)
Okay, I need to make a correction to my previous message. I called Lowe's and I can go in and buy the Infinity Base C, but for some reason I cannot buy it online and then go to pick it up. Whew! At least for now I can get it! It looks like my only question now is whether the Behr 2-8300 is identical to the Behr 8300. Would you have any idea about that? Thanks!
Yea as I answered in your other post the Behr 2-8300 is NOT the same as the 8300 unfortunately but as long as you can get the Infinity you are golden, that stuff ROCKS!!
@@ThePaintedDreamer Again, thank you! Sorry that I doubled up on my questions for you about this, both on this post and on the SheleeArt FB post. I didn't mean to give you extra work by having to respond to me in multiple locations!
@@kimberlyaltman5535 So I used 3:1 for all (tubes, fluid, pigments) but found sometimes with the fluid and pigments it was a tad thin so you can thicken up by just throwing a bit of the infinity base itself in there or mix up a different batch at maybe 4:1 and use for thinner paints, up to you 😊 .. also I just did a mixing video today on my channel for this Infinity base if you want a visual and then at the end I mix up some paints.

If it’s thicker then try 2:1 .. have fun!!! 😃😃😃
@@ThePaintedDreamer Thanks Jodie! I used my glidden and did 2 to 1. CA worked great! Stepped out of my comfort zone for sure!
@@jodietanino6955 Awesome! Glad to hear it 😃😃
Beautiful.. great tutorial, very informative, helpful tips.
Hi Jodie, what resin do you like to use? I would love to see you do a resin video!
Hi Debbie! I actually did a resin video already, it’s #40 ☺️ .. I have two that I like and use, stone coat countertop and then counter culture diy 💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer Thanks, lady! I LOVE your work, by the way!
@@debbierobbins360 Absolutely! Let me know if you have any questions!
Have you done records for outdoor yard art? If so, how did you protect them to last in the weather?
I have not no
Im at the store right now attempting to purchase Behr 8300 and they want to tint the paint, do i let them or keep it as is. HELP😂@@ThePaintedDreamer
Hey Jodie!! Hope your not tired of my questions.....I am finally the proud owner of Aussie Floetrol! Does it need to be filtered like the US Floetrol?
Never!! Haha!! Bring em on 😃 .. Yayyy! I’m so glad you got some now! You won’t regret it! if you mean filtering like straining for chunks with the US floetrol, no I haven’t found that I’ve had to do that with the AUS floetrol ☺️
@@ThePaintedDreamer can you tell me what causes the different cells in your work. Is the JoSonya paints? Your work is absolutely beautiful 😍
@@gottalovehorses9802 The different cells that appear can be random by the way I'm blowing them but they are made with the cell activator(s) I use in each video. I go over that at the beginning of each video and also there's a list of everything used in the description box below each video :)
Have you ever used any Benjamin Moore paint bases?
I have not Tracey no, have you?
@@kimberlyaltman5535 No worries at all, honest! 😊
@@ThePaintedDreamer My very last question, I promise! What ratio should I use for my PM using just the Infinity and the Jo Sonja Varnish?
@@kimberlyaltman5535 So I used 3:1 for all (tubes, fluid, pigments) but found sometimes with the fluid and pigments it was a tad thin so you can thicken up by just throwing a bit of the infinity base itself in there or mix up a different batch at maybe 4:1 and use for thinner paints, up to you 😊 .. also I just did a mixing video today on my channel for this Infinity base if you want a visual and then at the end I mix up some paints.
Where can you purchase the HGTV infinity base c?
That one is exclusive to Lowe’s
@@ThePaintedDreamer ok thank you 😊
