Ok so the reason cymbals aren’t as common in DCI isn’t cuz they’re not cool (they are) it because it’s hard to write them into the drill and have more of a contribution then just their sound. They’re more visual instruments which works for a smaller field (like a basketball court) but it’s hard to give them a big contribution on a bigger field where you can’t see them as much
band geek 379 except the part where you pinch your skin -.-, I only have like 4 days playing them and they really heavy but I’ve been told that I’ll get used to it
Anahi Jimenez you’ll get used to it eventually. The more you master it the less pinches, and the more you do some cymbal practices (maybe some cymbal roles for two minutes and increment each day) the more your muscles will get used to it. Just keep at it!;)
Fatima Reyes yea, I practice everydayyyyyyy after school, at first I joined band Bc my friend needed more people in it so at first I was like “I’m gon quit, Im gon quite” but now I’m really starting to like them, I could really fire up other cymbal players. But I enjoy it now and I’m willing to put all my power in them, I’m used to the heavy part now
they're not even close to be as good as vanguard. I'd say scv is the best cymbal line in DCI. Sure the crossmen are good at off the hand wrost flips but their technique is as good. Most of the cymbal line members are breaking their wrists, which you should not do because it could seriously hurt you, and also the sound quality isn't as great either. Don't get me wrong the crossmen are great but SCV is on another level.
@@emmanuelarellano728 Wrist-break isn’t inherently bad, plenty of groups still endorse it and achieve good sound quality. That being said, yes, it’s a pretty fast way to screw up your wrist and I personally prefer the pull back technique most west coast groups use.
They are In High school band They take down the natural purpose of the cymbals which is to be light and to look flashy and be reflective and to look showy High school takes that away and used them for accents only It only teaches you how to play and not how to look good
@@NuclearRegulatory I know. I know. But the previous cymbals person in our drumline has somehow managed to look flashy and be projective with cymbals. So it is possible.
@@blanquitzc.1255 What kind of cymbals do y’all use? Everyone except for the girl closest to the camera used heavy 19” classic orchestrals. They’re not the most graceful to do visuals with, but definitely doable.
WHEN CAN I BE THIS COOL WITH MY CYMBALS😭😭

I watched this live to to be able to say. The crossmen cymbal line is as good if not getter than SCV. Both are insanely good.

dude on the far left took me out of it cause his feet weren't in parallel
Dan Barnes none of them are
