It’s like that tweet, “consumerism is not hitting like it used to, I have to buy land”. My theory is that perfect jeans literally don’t exist. In my experience it’s more common to get jeans you like well enough and just wear them, and overtime they morph into a favorite (and therefore perfect for you) pair. At this point, my wardrobe doesn’t even have any possible gaps left to fill, so I’m basically on a no buy. Some underpants maybe, a new bra.
I have to start rethinking luxury items with earthquakes and fires in CA like the rest of the Californians…. The fire so close to my house did it! 😢 None of my Hermes collections of bags , blankets , nor my Chanel and Dior clothes mattered!
I s-l-o-w-e-d way down on buying luxury and purchase my home. Then, I purchased a few more properties with my husband. Now, I can pass down my luxury goods down to my daughter along with land/properties. I feel like this is the real flex!
I’m honestly over luxury handbags at this point. Focusing more on fine jewelry. Classic pieces. For the cost of these bags today I’m having a hard time finding anything worth the value. I keep looking yet constantly disappointed. Lol
A cautionary tale: I saw a 5-band Confetti Cuff from David Yurman 20 or so years ago at Neiman Marcus Last Call and fell in love. I had no idea that collection was impermanent and so didn’t buy it because it was quite costly for semi-precious gems. I regretted it for years and all my attempts at buying things like it never quite satisfied. I started looking for the cuff at luxury resale sites and would come across it at prices even higher than the original because it was discontinued so long ago. Occasionally someone sold one … but in the wrong size or with different gems that I don’t love. Finally, last week … a cuff in my size that was thisclose to the one I loved, with iolite, topaz and diamonds instead of iolite, topaz, rhodolite and amethyst. The price for this barely worn cuff was doable, so I did it. It arrives today. The moral of my story is that over the years I spent more money trying to satisfy that itch than had I bought it when I first saw it. I have repeated that same mistake a few times in my life but never again. Don’t do as I did. If you obsess over something, buy it if you can.
7:08 i feel the same exact way! jeans ARE a never ending quest. i have multiple jeans in my wardrobe but mostly only wear 1 out of the many i own. and…not all jeans from across brands are made equally. the sizes and fit are differs from brand to brand even if it’s my “regular” size. and now i’m just stuck wearing my sweatpants🫠
Jeans! YES!!! It’s the Goldie Locks syndrome! They’re never just quite right but in the moment they look right until you see another that might be better. 🤷🏻♀️

Hi Cassie, I'm telling you...the older you get, the more comfort/discomfort counts for everything in how you buy shoes! Cute and sexy is one thing, but ripping pain and blistering is something ELSE. Also with bags, I like top handle...but only ones that can change to using a strap. Practicality counts for convenience too.

I am not saying orthopedic footwear is winning over fashionable tootsies but it's comfort or bust at this point in my life. In the words of great Coco Chanel “Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury” so I don't make the rules.😁 Can I also say how incredible your storytelling skills are!! I mean I can count on one hand (and still have fingers left) the amount of You Tubers whose videos I can sit through from start to finish. Most are very repetitive and just ... not good. I honestly don't know the last time I went through an entire lipstick and I've had the audacity to buy back ups... I'm also not buying any more vintage or thrift store earrings after going through my whole collection with a lead testing kit and finding so many positives!

Hi Kass loved the video!!! Something I decided to do this year is keeping track of all my spendings on clothing, shoes, and accessories specifically lol. I’m putting all my purchases in my notes and separating them by month. There’s something about see the totals add up that keeps me from buying things I don’t absolutely want. Much smarter purchases.
We have a lot of the same things on our no buy list this year! 😂 I have every shape and style of denim, and too many jackets already, I am not allowed to even look! I have a terrible habit of wanting the same piece of jewelry in both yellow and white gold and I am putting that on pause this year. I also have a bit of a one in and one out policy for handbags that has been working well. And really just catching myself when I get swept up in the hype of things, like the Mama bags and the Murakami re-editions, I want to go crazy but it’s just not practical to get a bag and shoes or accessories from every. Single. Drop. 🙃 Lovely to see Geli as always!! She’s our little fashion mascot! 🩶 I have a Havana Brown kitten and I find myself gravitating towards browns as my basic neutral because of her 🤎🤭

Respect for you doing this and really assessing what you don’t need to buy in 2025! I had a similar epiphany where I decided to not buy luxury branded makeup this year. I found a great routine set from fenty beauty and with the end of year sales last year, I stocked up for at least 12 months. So my goal is to not buy luxury makeup or skin care this year and none of my current items until I 1) am close running out, 2) they discontinue it and I need to find something new. We got this!🎉

I’m really trying to not by any clothes this year. I am pregnant, due in March, and I feel that the body changes will just continue over the course of the year and hopefully settle by next year. No point in buying new clothes until I know what size I am going to be for the foreseeable future.
I'm going on a low buy year for everything. I don't have much designer stuff as most of my things are mid-range and high quality; but I have enough stuff. I'm only going to be getting essentials, like replacing my skincare or makeup when what I use runs out. Only if it's something really special or if an item is old/worn out that is essential, will I consider buying it and so far, I haven't seen anything that I don't have something similar of. Wish me luck, y'all. I'll have to live vicariously through Cassie and her fabulousness this year.
I’ve always like the look of a boxy shoulder bag like the Constance, but I won’t pay Hermes prices. Fortunately it’s classic shape so there’s all sorts of price points. If I buy a new bag this year that’s the look I want. I am another jeans freak, if I find a pair that fits, then they’re sold. I do have price limits that are considerably lower than Cassie’s, but we can’t all be our queen. Otherwise the thing I like is fine jewelry, I’ve said it many times here, used fine jewelry is the best kept secret. Okay it’s not a secret, but no need to pay full retain when there’s the auction market, and luxury resale market. My current obsession is flexible bangle bracelets, I’d like to add a Fope, another Jarretierre, or something similar. Lord help me, 😂
My problem w/shoes, bags & clothing is that I’ll find a style I love, then I end up having to have them in every single color ever made, knowing full well the odds of me wearing them all is slim to none!🤦🏼♀️ Jewelry is my true weakness, just when I think I’ve finally bought the perfect piece, I spy 5 more I want, lol! But at least precious metals/gemstones tend to hold/go up in value (that’s my reasoning & I’m sticking to it, lol!).
Love your videos, Cassie! Like you, one of my rules for this year are exclusively top handle bags too-- they're just too impractical for me! I bought 2 last year and rarely use them 😕 I prefer to have the option of wearing my bags shoulder or crossbody.
It’s so crazy to me what these designers put out there. If they would focus more on what people actually wear over stupid crap like pvc boots they probably wouldn’t be hemorrhaging so much money and charging consumers extravagant prices. Overproducing something that a handful of people are going to purchase is nuts! Hence the reason these things end up in an outlet or getting purposely destroyed. 🙄
Thanks for the PSA, Cassie! I was not aware of my addiction to JEANS until today. haha As for luxury bags, I've been a crazy bag lady all my life, but crazier in the last 15 years. Now I see the price of the bag and, although I can afford to buy it, I just feel stupid handing over THAT much money for a bag. Money that could go towards investments, savings, property, etc. Paying anything over $5k just makes me feel like an absolute fool wasting money on that stuff. Anthropologie bags are super cute! haha
I'm with you on the top handle only bags, I wish companies would realize that this limits certain buyers and figure out ways to incorporate a shoulder strap into more of these bags. I've adapted several but there are some that it just isn't doable as is. And this isn't even just an issue with luxury.
This is a real issue! I had my leather repair guy permanently alter a bag. I couldn't find an adapter kit that worked! He hung it in his shop until I could get to it and got another customer who wants her bags done. I only did one, because this alteration probably means they won't spa it now😭

I can relate so much with you on jeans. This year for me is no Hermès whatsoever, nothing, niet, we are parting ways. No sunglasses, no shoes, no luxury skincare that doesn’t even work better anyway. No perfume, I have enough. I just got the P9 and I will try my best to not add more bags . Actually I’m curating my collection and I want to stick to mostly timeless and classic styles.
Cassie you hit the nail on the head with the jeans! As someone who does not have model proportions, I always seem to be on the hunt for the "perfect fitting" jeans. The other item I buy obsessively and have not yet found the perfect one, is a plain white T -shirt. This year I am on the hunt for the perfect white/cream trouser pant. When I say perfect, I mean one that is properly lined and I can't see the undercarriage of the pockets or my underwear underneath! If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear!

Here is my list of must haves for me: Hermes reverse belt not the H buckle, designer sunglasses in black, brown and aviators, two card holders one black must be a Chanel card holder, LV Speedy 30 rain and snow bag, key pouch, 4 key ring, LV pencil case, Nice BB and LV PM agenda. Also a light weight everyday black tote med size any designer brand. Throw in a tote for travel, summer bags (2) and a couple of crossbody and top handle bags. I’m working on this list. I didn’t count designer sneakers (2) and jewelry.

PVC shoes, aka jellies are gross, but I think we each need to find that out for ourselves. At this point I am far too wise to wear any shoes that will turn my feet into hamburger meat. Top handle only bags, yes and no, I have a gorgeous wool tweed vintage Orla Kelly, and a cool Marc Jacobs leopard print clutch, but I agree they’re not practical.

I have a terrible habit of wanting the same piece of jewelry in both yellow and white gold and I am putting that on pause this year. I also have a bit of a one in and one out policy for handbags that has been working well. And really just catching myself when I get swept up in the hype of things, like the Mama bags and the Murakami re-editions, I want to go crazy but it’s just not practical to get a bag and shoes or accessories from every. Single. Drop. 🙃

Respect for you doing this and really assessing what you don’t need to buy in 2025! I had a similar epiphany where I decided to not buy luxury branded makeup this year. I found a great routine set from fenty beauty and with the end of year sales last year, I stocked up for at least 12 months. So my goal is to not buy luxury makeup or skin care this year and none of my current items until I 1) am close running out, 2) they discontinue it and I need to find something new.

I’m really trying to not by any clothes this year. I am pregnant, due in March, and I feel that the body changes will just continue over the course of the year and hopefully settle by next year. No point in buying new clothes until I know what size I am going to be for the foreseeable future.

I'm going on a low buy year for everything. I don't have much designer stuff as most of my things are mid-range and high quality; but I have enough stuff. I'm only going to be getting essentials, like replacing my skincare or makeup when what I use runs out.
Only if it's something really special or if an item is old/worn out that is essential, will I consider buying it and so far, I haven't seen anything that I don't have something similar of.

I’ve always like the look of a boxy shoulder bag like the Constance, but I won’t pay Hermes prices. Fortunately it’s classic shape so there’s all sorts of price points. If I buy a new bag this year that’s the look I want.
I am another jeans freak, if I find a pair that fits, then they’re sold. I do have price limits that are considerably lower than Cassie’s, but we can’t all be our queen.
Otherwise the thing I like is fine jewelry, I’ve said it many times here, used fine jewelry is the best kept secret. Okay it’s not a secret, but no need to pay full retain when there’s the auction market, and luxury resale market. My current obsession is flexible bangle bracelets, I’d like to add a Fope, another Jarretierre, or something similar. Lord help me, 😂

My problem w/shoes, bags & clothing is that I’ll find a style I love, then I end up having to have them in every single color ever made, knowing full well the odds of me wearing them all is slim to none!🤦🏼♀️ Jewelry is my true weakness, just when I think I’ve finally bought the perfect piece, I spy 5 more I want, lol! But at least precious metals/gemstones tend to hold/go up in value (that’s my reasoning & I’m sticking to it, lol!).

Love your videos, Cassie! Like you, one of my rules for this year are exclusively top handle bags too-- they're just too impractical for me! I bought 2 last year and rarely use them 😕 I prefer to have the option of wearing my bags shoulder or crossbody.
It’s so crazy to me what these designers put out there. If they would focus more on what people actually wear over stupid crap like pvc boots they probably wouldn’t be hemorrhaging so much money and charging consumers extravagant prices. Overproducing something that a handful of people are going to purchase is nuts! Hence the reason these things end up in an outlet or getting purposely destroyed. 🙄
Not buying anything ... until going to Tokyo in autumn, where I will buy everything. My credit card is already wincing in pain ...

Thanks for the PSA, Cassie! I was not aware of my addiction to JEANS until today. haha As for luxury bags, I've been a crazy bag lady all my life, but crazier in the last 15 years. Now I see the price of the bag and, although I can afford to buy it, I just feel stupid handing over THAT much money for a bag. Money that could go towards investments, savings, property, etc. Paying anything over $5k just makes me feel like an absolute fool wasting money on that stuff. Anthropologie bags are super cute! haha

I'm with you on the top handle only bags, I wish companies would realize that this limits certain buyers and figure out ways to incorporate a shoulder strap into more of these bags. I've adapted several but there are some that it just isn't doable as is. And this isn't even just an issue with luxury.
I don't know why they can't because every cheap bag I got comes with a crossbody strap that you can put on when you need it.

This is a real issue! I had my leather repair guy permanently alter a bag. I couldn't find an adapter kit that worked! He hung it in his shop until I could get to it and got another customer who wants her bags done. I only did one, because this alteration probably means they won't spa it now😭

I can relate so much with you on jeans. This year for me is no Hermès whatsoever, nothing, niet, we are parting ways. No sunglasses, no shoes, no luxury skincare that doesn’t even work better anyway. No perfume, I have enough. I just got the P9 and I will try my best to not add more bags . Actually I’m curating my collection and I want to stick to mostly timeless and classic styles.

Cassie you hit the nail on the head with the jeans! As someone who does not have model proportions, I always seem to be on the hunt for the "perfect fitting" jeans. The other item I buy obsessively and have not yet found the perfect one, is a plain white T -shirt. This year I am on the hunt for the perfect white/cream trouser pant. When I say perfect, I mean one that is properly lined and I can't see the undercarriage of the pockets or my underwear underneath! If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear!

Loungewear rant made me laugh out loud.I remember my late father pulling me aside, asking if I could encourage mom to wear different clothes at home.
Here is my list of must haves for me: Hermes reverse belt not the H buckle, designer sunglasses in black, brown and aviators, two card holders one black must be a Chanel card holder, LV Speedy 30 rain and snow bag, key pouch, 4 key ring, LV pencil case, Nice BB and LV PM agenda. Also a light weight everyday black tote med size any designer brand. Throw in a tote for travel, summer bags (2) and a couple of crossbody and top handle bags. I’m working on this list. I didn’t count designer sneakers (2) and jewelry.

How you are with jeans is how I am with shoes--specifically trainers--I don't need anymore but mine eyes keep wandering 😂 This year, I'm making a conscious effort to focus on buying specialty collection pieces i.e., there's a dress from Bottega from the Daniel Lee days that I've had my eye on. I really want to find more unique items that I can pass down--unless my nieces wanna become sneakerheads--in that case I'd be all set😅🎉
PVC shoes, aka jellies are gross, but I think we each need to find that out for ourselves. At this point I am far too wise to wear any shoes that will turn my feet into hamburger meat.
Top handle only bags, yes and no, I have a gorgeous wool tweed vintage Orla Kelly, and a cool Marc Jacobs leopard print clutch, but I agree they’re not practical.
On the PVC heels… not the same vibe or price range BUT if you can, check out Melissa. It’s a brazilian brand and all their shoes are plastic. They have some fun designs and for the price, maybe you can try them out.
