    I do Have a Mitsubishi so this helped. I paid $280 for the company who installed it to clean it 2 years later because it wouldn’t blow much. . This time I watched your video 3 ,4 times and did it myself. I had some sticky points and I neglected to align the drip hose correctly the first time, but I went back and fixed it. Now it blows strong. Wow. Update: 3 months later, I had to do it again. Wasn’t as bad as the first time however. If that roller blade is dirty, the performance of the fan action is greatly reduced. Not looking forward to doing this 4 times a year. But, thank you for the great video

    Hi Jeff I tried removing the blower but it's not coming out. I have removed the setting screw and yet it is not coming out. Looks like the right side bush is stuck to the shaft of fan motor. Is there any trick in removing the blower from the fan motor shaft? Thanks

      2:10 hi I was able to remove the wheel last year but this time I am having the same problem, the wheel got suck to the motor. Did you ever find a solution for that? My wheel is covered in mold and the company that installed my Unit no longer works with Mitsubishi.

      @@AM-dg9nz Well I tried removing blower from my another mitsubishi split AC today and it has the same problem. The blower doesnt come out easily! The blower pin gets stuck I guess. There must be some industries hard kept secret here :-D Good Luck with your blower servicing efforts!

    • @Wardropulous
      @Wardropulous 8 месяцев назад

      Just had this exact problem. Sounds excessive, but a small crowbar between the blower and body/motor of the AC released it with minimum effort. I had otherwise tried prying from the outside of the blowing while pulling as hard as I could but it wouldn't budge. The trick seems to be to get that lever force applied as close to the center/shaft as possible.

    Great video. This combined with your vid on taking the cover off (the clips are stubborn) was perfect. Took me an hour. Hardest is getting the drain pan back and lined up, and also getting the clips back in when putting the cover on. mine was running like 5 years and I never thought to check the blower. I was always keeping the filters clean. Anyway my blower was so caked with dust, likely from a reno I did a few years back. I'm so mad I went through a couple hot summers with it not working well. Well worth it to clean!!+

    I like the simplicity of Mitsubishi's design when doing cleaning and maintenance on the mini split. I first vacuumed the blower and it made a huge difference but decided to take out the blower wheel and give it a thorough cleaning. This video made things easy to remove.

      If i could ask one more question. My tech cleaned the blower wheel last august..real quick by vaccuming. No removal. Since that time blower, even in max setting, is less intrusive than in years past. Also the cool air is having more difficulty in reaching the lower level. Its clearly straining when temps are in ninetys and off by 4-5 degrees from requested temp.do u still think the blower wheel is the main culprit? I have had the freon checked lately. Told it was ok. Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
      Ron

      @@nitrofiche7206 Nitro just had my AC blower cleaned by someone who knew was he was doing. What a difference! My blower wheel was so dirty with guck, dust and mold, it was unbalanced and vibrating when spinning. Thats how bad it was. What a waste of time and money when I had it cleaned last year by the Mitsu tech. I am back to working like new and my freon defficiency was likely caused by this filth and guck! For all our benefits, get your blower wheel cleaned by someone who takes the time and knows what he's doing. I think the nightmare is over. At least I hope so.

    This was extremely helpful. Only real issues is that drain pan really doesn’t want to come out and feels like you might break it , you should zoom in on the specific clips cause they aren’t super obvious .
    Also getting the wheel back in under the coil and inserting into the motor is a bit tricky .
    Thanks for this video , was able to clean a pretty nasty wheel and inside and now I feel confident I can tackle the other 4 units .

    Thanks very useful. Set screw was a bit more to the right on my earlier model and required removing a plastic piece. Other than that, easy to follow and unit is now sparking clean. Years ago a former Mitsubishi authorized dealer dealing with dripping water from the unit came and charged over $500 to "clean" the unit. Just took the plastic covers off which I ended up cleaning myself on the patio to save the service person some time. He left the blower wheel in place, just wiped down the surface and told me that it was not removable.

    I just cleaned mine with out removing the out cover just the vertical louvers and folding the horizontal louvers out of the way using a vac and modified tooth brush.... real pain... I'll try this method on the next one but do have to comment that removing the outer cover on mine is a pain in the pitutie ... and you have to pry it loose with a screw driver or such after removing the screw... I will say we have 5 Mitsubishi Mini-splits and love them.... the one I cleaned was starting to 'howl' because of all the dust and mold built up on the Blower Wheel. Been running for just over 3 years.

We have 5 units and I finally got it down on about number 4....

    Just wondering if its possible to vlean this thing? After a recent mold clean, everything was cleaned, besides the blower wheel, it’s impossible to clean its mold, the mold would be on each of the individual blowers and spraying or a hose wont fix it. Is the only option to replace the wheel?

      As I understand it, you can run the unit in emergency cooling mode, measure superheat, and then measure amp draw and apply a correction factor based on outdoor temp. If superheat and amp draw match unit specs then you know you have proper charge.

    Drip pan looks really easy to remove in your video, but was quite rigid in ours, especially the right side. Please show how to do the reassembly, especially the drip pan, aligning the blower, and getting the cover back on. The blower was rubbing on something when we turned it back on, and we had to disassemble all over again. Some checks along the reassembly would have prevented this.

    After reassembly the blower wheel is now making a slight clicking / scraping noise that wasn't there before. 😳. Could the blower wheel be pushed too far into the shaft? Should I loosen the set screw and nudge it back to the left a little bit or would it be from a bent aluminum fin or something like that? I really was hoping not to have to take everything apart again. Any advice? Should there be some sort of lubrication applied to the moving parts of the blower?

      its a guide for pathetic impractical people who dont want to go "under the hood" and do simple cleaning tasks, preventative maintenance etc, dont forget to take your car to the main dealership to put air in the tyres, add water to the windscreen washer, and add water to your battery if its a non sealed type. There's stuff called oil which is inside your engine, you are a dipstick! That's why so many people cannot perfom fixes on stuff they let get bad or have minor faults, and they throw it away in the dump - resulting in even more pollution, waste, expenditure.

    I live in Puerto Rico and they only charged me $75 to clean a 30K BTU unit, so I had them do it. All they did was drop the drain, then the guy literally ripped the metal grid (that protects if the wheel disintegrates) out of the unit and threw it away. Now he had access to the blower wheel from below, which he never removed. With a protective cleaning cover on the whole unit, he just sprayed it with evaporator cleaner, as he turned it. Then he rinsed it really well with water from a pressurized sprayer. It was full of mold when he started and I checked it when he finished and its completely clean. He snapped the drain back in place and it was good to go. The blower wheel never came off.

You showed it just like... remove the screw, GRAB AND PULL THE DRUM AND THAT'S IT!... well, have been figuring-out for half an hour.. it it loose, removed the screws but would not release. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    It's a shame all models aren't designed the same. The blower wheel on my Mitsubishi has a rubber compound in addition to the set screw. Besides taking the entire inverter off the wall and dismantling, I can't see any other way of removing the blower wheel; not to mention, not knowing what the black rubber compound is, how to remove it, and re apply. Accessibility for maintenance (to clean mould that is guaranteed) needs to be engineered into the design of all models, or it forces people to pay an avoidable service fee, or even worse having to buy a new system.

  • @neilcrawford8160

    Drain pan was a pain to get back on as another poster commented. Also, reinstalling the blower was not ease. Getting the rubber bearing in to fit in. Then the blower wouldn't spin, and that's where I am! Don't want to burn out the motor, but it is not spinning freely.
    With how nasty these units get inside, this should be designed as a much easier procedure

    • @GuyAvenell
      @GuyAvenell 5 лет назад

      Make sure you screw down the fan set screw, onto the motor shaft. Otherwise, it will spin free.

    My Mr. Slim's blower wheel doesn't have a set screw and doesn't want to come out. Maybe mine is an older model; It is around 15 years old. Thanks for the video, but without the set screw, this isn't going to be nearly as easy. I guess I'll either continue taking it apart or put it back together without cleaning it.

    Does this one have a drain pan

    • @lucl6617
      @lucl6617 5 лет назад

      Yes, it is a horizontal tray as seen in the video, with your drain pipe connected to either the right or the left of the unit. The drain pipe is normally on same side as the refrigerant piping, I assume. In this case, as seen in video, it is on the right.

      Bernadette Grisham I had the same issue. So I removed the set screw, lowered the left side a bit, one was able to push the blower a bit further into the pin on the right. You should see the pin sticking out a bit through the horizontal hole to the left of the set screw. Spin the wheel by hand to ensure no binding, and put the set screw back in. That solved my problem.

      Here a link to the manual... don’t think your model is any different than his unless it is the wider one which has a third screw at the bottom center holding the cover on.
