67 year old retired medic here. I’m betting your working out is gonna work to your benefit. Doctors salivate when they have a patient in as good of shape as you. Makes em look good when you have a great outcome! The hard part for you will be letting others take care of you and your animals during your recovery. Just chill brother and be thankful! Grandpa Doss, I will keep you in my Prayers On June 12th I had a Major Heart Attack. Both of us have the same systems!! I am now on med's for the rest of my life. I was home alone doing chores when I started not feeling too good. Long story short I called 911 & took them forever (20 min) to get to me!!! I got to ER & they took me to surgery & put in a stint. One Artery was 70% blocked & the other one is 40% blocked . I know how you feel, yours is a lil more advanced than mine. In the mean time my husband was to have surgery on the 14th, miles many miles from where I was at in another hospital. I am Praying for both of us & Praying God is putting his healing hands on us BOTH!!!! Very happy Grandma Doss is doing so much better. We both need our soulmates & God to help carry us thru & keep us strong together. We all love you & Pray that your surgery will go smooth & easy with the hands of God guiding the surgeon. We all know the boys will step in to help to help you & do whatever it takes to help run the farm as you recover. Matt will more likely be there night & day for you!!! As a nurse, I am so pleased you had annual check up, it’s so important as changes picked up early can be treated before major damage has happened. The recovery is long but in the grand scheme of things, 6 weeks out of the rest of your life is a small inconvenience. My favorite saying is “Growing old isn’t for sissy’s” Sending aroha your way. My Aunt, years ago was the 1st to get a pig valve replaced! Later she had it replaced with a stainless steel & we would dit on her lap & hear it click!

Praying for Grandpa doss and for the Lord to guide his medical team and he'd receive the best treatment needed to bring healing to his heart! My husband had that surgery about 5 years ago and going into it they weren't sure if they could do a repair surgery but the surgery went very well and they were successful in doing it! His cardiologist told him the repair surgery would be the best to have because if they were successful it would mean he wouldn't need anymore surgery in the future. His repair surgery was an open heart surgery. He had one of the top heart surgeons at Dartmouth hospital in NH. Praying for your entire family as well!!! ❤

Ralph I'm 63 I was diagnosed with Marfan's in 2003, mitral valve valve prolapse, hyperthyroidism, and abnormally of the aortic arch, along with Afib, had a pacemaker in 2013, I've just not to the point where surgery is needed.
I see my cardio tomorrow as it's time, I do get sob, fatigue & now breaking in sweat even with just a bit of cleaning.
I've been a widow of 10yrs and I'm terrified.
I understand where you're at and scared to death even though you dont let on.
I stand on my faith that's the only I get thru this, I have no friends or family here where I live,they all abandoned after I became a widow or moved away.

My Mom had this surgery nearly 30 years ago but hers is mechanical. She had rheumatic fever as a child. It's quite scary, but you are strong. I'm praying for both of you.

It's amazing, with a bum heart, that Grandpa Ralph Doss has all the energy he does! Usually, heart patients are quite fatigued. GOD has been very gracious! Praying for safety during the operation and a quick recovery. I can assume, due his healthy lifestyle and care of his farm family, that he's probably in a much better place than most patients with similar issues. Take care Brother Ralph.

I was lucky a few months ago they discovered accidentally I had two blockages 90% and 80% I was in and out of hospital quickly, now recovered I’m so thankful❤🙏

So glad you followed up, as medical personnel do, occasionally, miss things. I'm saying that as a hospital RN and have seen staff drop the ball from time to time. However, the medical field has advanced so far, it amazes me, how well these surgeries go, on a regular basis. You have taken care of yourself all these years, Ralph, you are in great shape. The 6 weeks will go by quickly and you will come out of this even better! You've got the best nurse right there and you are taking care of each other! You got this! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

It began before Lea Ann’s surgery and I have already been praying for whatever was going on behind the scenes with your health. I was told by a cardiologist about 10 years ago that I have an irregular regular heart beat, but it is nothing to worry about.. That has never really made sense to me, but I guess he knows what he's talking about. Love and prayers for you Ralph, and for LeAnn and the kids for strength to get through this ( without wringing your neck 😂😂). It will all work out just like the good Lord has planned. All the stressing over handing over the reins for a while, isn't going to change anything at all, I know that you know this, and it isn't making it any easier to do, I'm the same way. However sometimes it helps to hear someone else say it. Y'all got this one too. Love y'all

Hi grandpa Ralph Doss, I went through what you are going through now , had a TEE which is a trans-esophageal echo which is a camera that goes down through your esophagus to your heart and there is a camera on it and they'll be able to see your mitral valve , hopefully they give you a pig valve and not a mechanical one like I had gotten 24 years ago . You are in my thoughts and prayers for you and your wife .🙏🙏🙏🙏

Grandpa Doss, thank God for Grandma Doss to speak up when you saw the cardiologist. You need to speak the truth when speaking to your doctors. They are there to help diagnose the problem. God will walk this walk with you as you go through the surgery. He never fails to be with us during the most difficult times but every day. I will keep you both in my prayers and your family.
Grandpa Doss, stop worrying because it does not do you any good. Swallow your,pride and ask your boys for help. They are just waiting to be asked. I waited for my mom to decide she needed me when she was sick with cancer. When she could not wake my Dad, she had no choice. She never regretted asking me and I never regretted spending the time taking care of her. I had no regrets and my Dad told me she was so thankful for my help. I loved spending that time with her and Dad. It was a gift to take care of her.

Matt will step in and help, Chad will too. Matt can teach his brothers how to feed animals. I was in the hospital for a week too, I was also was on morphine in the beginning but when I went home I was on something else. I love y'all so much. If I was there I would help Leanne. ❤❤❤

I agree with you Grandpa about God's miracle of his creation. I was a surgical technologist for forty years and the wonders of the human body are undescribable. The eyes, the tendons in the hands, the digestive tract and the vascular system are so beautiful and wondrously made. Good luck in this new challenge. God will take care of you for sure. I’m on levothyroxine because I don’t have a thyroid. They found two nodes that were not cancerous, but they said there could be cancer behind it so they removed it. So I have to take one of those in the morning and three calcium a day.
Praying for God's healing touch on your body
Hearing news like that is so scary. My husband had a triple bypass, only problem was keeping him to stay quiet. Men do not make a good patient. Science has advance so much. My grandfather was the guine pig back in the late 50's where he had a pig valve put in, which lasted 20 years. Prayers for the both of you. I feel sorry for Grandma, she is going to have the problem of keeping him to behave.

Wow you two have had a bit of bad luck, but we are all praying for you both. It's going to be OK. In August of 2021, I had an appendicitis. The ER Dr. told me I needed to have my heart murmur checked with an Ecocardiagram. My GP said we'd wait on that. I don't know why. In December 2021 I had a Total Left Hip Replacement. When having my pre-surgery physical the Dr told me I needed to have an Ecocardiogram because my murmur was really loud. Had it and was told I had Severe Aortic Stenosis and problems with my Mitral valve. I had no idea I had a heart problem. Dr's had a meeting and determined I could go ahead with the hip surgery. I had fallen many times in the front yard and had to call paramedics twice to help me up my four front steps because I ran out of steam. This was before my hip surgery. Had an infection go all the way up my leg and into my hip surgery scar which required me to have antibiotic and fluid infusions. This postponed my heart surgery. In August 2022 I had an Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) through my groin. I was told I'd go home the next day. I woke up in the Cardiac ICU intubated and hooked to several machines. I panicked as I'd never woke up like that before. My BP was dropping to low. Two physical therapists said I needed to go to a nursing home for Rehab. I said no. The hospital social worker came to talk to me. I asked if I had to go to the nursing home. She said they couldn't make me. I was in a nursing home for 10 days after my hip surgery. I NEVER want to do that again. I had already been told I wouldn't be released that day. A girl immediately came in and did a EKG. Then a Dr from the surgical team came in and grabbed and shook my foot. He said all they had to do was make me mad and my BP came right up to where they wanted it. They released me that afternoon. All my falls was caused by my heart not my pending hip surgery. Dr's determined that I was actually fainting. I hadn't a clue. All 3 surgeries were performed in three days less than a year. They all went well and I had relatively no pain. I'm so greatful God guided me through all the surgeries. HE is always good.

The Aortic Valve Replacement has helped my Mitral Valve along and they haven't mentioned any additional surgeries. I due need to have my RT Hip Totally Replaced but I'm😮 dragging my feet on that.

The thyroid is something to stay on. I had thyroid cancer, thyroidectomy and almost a year of treatment. I have very little memory of the entire year. Part of my treatment was NO throid replacement, radiation and my labs before my radiation started was 74.6 .. The Dr said sick didnt express how bad I was, they jad to make me sick as possible to save my life, it was necessary to treat the type of Cancer I had. I am now 12 + years cancer free and havent had any issues until recently, my levels are elevated. I got feeling really bad and my levels 3 months ago was 26.4 and TSH levels had gotten to the place I was having panic attacks, especially at night, I totally get the "touchy" attitude, depressed, sleep issues, feeling bad, freezing, burning up, then freezing, nausea, severe PVC (skipping heartbeats) I wore a heart monitor for 32 days 24/7 .. they increased my meds and levels came down but Im feeling bad again. I do covet your prayers. I have a hubby , 12, 6 and 4 yo and I just dont feel well. They keep my levels at 0.5 is the desired number because thats how they monitor for cancer return. Yes, ZERO which has it's own issues, but Im alive. I always have a tumor on my adrenal gland (that is right above tour kidney) that is affecting my cortisol levels .. which affects weight, sleep, just a lot of things, they are "monitoring. "
Your thyroid/replacements controls everything. Your emotions, your ability to comprehend, your ability to even find words. I was talking to my husband about going to the store and my sentence ended with the word "field goal." It made me cry. It wasnt even a thought and how that came out is still confusing. So you lose words, brain fog, achy joints. Its important to keep your thyroid under control. Weight fluctuating is also part of it. When its off, I can sleep 16 hours wake up tired. Thats not fair to my children or husband. So we are working on my levels. Please pray for me, for the Father to touch and get xontrol of what ever is going on and give me health, peace and man, I need energy.. if not for me, for my little family. I will be praying for you guys. I will be believing in Jesus Name for guidance of the Drs, for safety, fast and complete recovery for each of you.
Im sorry for the long comment, I try not to comment at all, but I need prayer and I know a lot of what your feeling. And I know prayer WORKS! So thankful we have a Father that sits high and looks low, and His precious hands are never idle concerning His Children.

Grandpa (Ralph)- from Grandpa (Bob), I have had a heart murmur caused my Mitrovalve prolapse my early days. In later years I had an ablation for irregular heart rhythm five years ago, I have slowed down just a bit but I am 74 going on 75 and going strong! Be strong, if you need to talk, please contact me. You better take the time to heal after surgery Grandpa because to alternative is not pleasant. My hubby had mitral valve repaired and aordic valve replacement and tried to hurry things alone to get back to activity and it set him back 6 months. Ralph, i feel your pain as far as depending on others. I truly despise it. Still have major back issues but i still trod thru even when ik i shouldnt. You guys are def on my prayer list.
God has a way of just slowing us down sometimes to just spend more time with Him & ask “what’s are you wanting me to learn from this LORD?” Sometimes it might be so simple as surrendering EVERYTHING to Him & learning to have PATIENCE, lololol, that’s a hard one, lololol. Know that George & I, Terri, pray for your all always but especially you & LeAnn. I pray the grace, mercy & love of the Trinity are felt with you all the way through this & always. Back in 2020 i was feeling a bit Off and a friend suggested a covid test even tho it didnt seem covid like. Had some tests -thyroid tumor, kidney tumor, hypertrophic cardio myopathy, COPD( never smoked), high blood pressure , diabetic, and on oxygen. Was a hiker, job required lots walking 10,000 steps+, competed in a 5k race less than 6 mo earlier. NEVER assume you are as healthy as you think.
Grandpa, maybe you can set up several Ring cameras, so you can watch your helpers and you can communicate with them as well; you know, barking orders!

I know what your talking about I have problems also with the Heart Back pocket but really last year I slept a lot !!! Mailman put mail in the bag on the inside door for me it was too much for me to go out the door to get the mail a few steps was all it was GRANDPA !!! If I would had someone to answer that bell I would have had one myself !!! Didn't drive much at all food was brought into the house for me on the table then I put it away for myself !!!
