    Thank you! You have saved an old lady a very boring summer I live in Mesa Arizona and I live in a mobile home. It gets up to 120 degrees at times so I don't get out much. Last year I made sleeping mats for the homeless out of plastic shopping bags but it hurts my hands now I can make rugs for my wonderful neighbors who supplied me with their plastic grocery bags! I found something I can do! Color me happy🤗👍🏼

    ty for the tutorial, it looks beautiful and not so scrappy-like when they only put parts of the material on parts of the rope,it looks so much better when the whole rope is wrapped up with material.

      Wendy Allison Barnes
      I wanted to have a calming effect on my channel, being that everything going on in the world is so much about hurry and do this, hurry and do that. Death, hate, and disrespect. I'm coming from a natural healing, caring, and slow down point of view. Really I feel like I am inviting everyone into a scraed time of worship. Just like the creator, or whomever one choose to call the energy that created everything, I feel like I honor the creator through my time making things. My channel my not be for everyone. I really "overstand" that. I respect all opinions even though I my disagree. Thank you so much for your comment.
      P. S.
      Olmzara the sound comes from a vibration... Olm... olm... and you know what calm means. Just saying my name puts one in a calming state. So their you go. OLMZARA'S CALM 🛀 💆. Sometimes a nap is just what we need but don't know it. 💆💆. Thanks again for your wonderful comment.

    If your sewing machine is not level like the table you can stack books to make it level. I use DVD cases and a project box. Makes straight line quilting much easier. And if you sew your fingers together never mind not being able to cook or clean you can't sew!

    • @OlmzarasCalm
      @OlmzarasCalm  6 лет назад +2

      You used books and DVD cases to make your sewing level..... good idea......sew innovative.... Use what you have..... will use this idea on my next big rug......sew smart.... I really think the sewing community is a rare species of people......
      Sewing my fingers together though...... My family would become Doctors so they can operate and repair my fingers just so I won't get out of cooking or cleaning..... Hahaha
      And we're funny as h*ll.... we need a Comedy Quilt Show..... I'd be there every day laughing my scraps off....... Funny stuff...😂😆😄😅

    What is your stitch length! If you want to make it larger can you add more rope? And do you spray silicone on the back to keep it from skidding? You are so soothing to listen to!

    • @OlmzarasCalm
      @OlmzarasCalm  3 года назад +2

      Stitch length is 4.0 mm zigzag stitch . I didn't like the look of the 5.0 mm zig zag stitch length. To make larger bunt two ends together wrap tape around then wrap with fabric . The rug can be made any size according to your sewing room or area of sewing. Thanks. I continue to here that about my voice. Thanks again

    Just a suggestion, place a piece of tear away stabilizer under the beginning strips so your machine has something to “grip”.

    First of all this video was made 2 years ago. Excuses the voice change through portions of this video. Even though I did not feel well that day, I pushed myself to finish the voice over. It is not my best work. But it is what it is.
    The most important question is. Did you gain knowledge in making a "Clothesline Rug?" From the many comments the answer is yes.
    I continue to increase my knowledge of making RUclips videos so bear with me and be understanding in your comments.
    Thank you

    Super idea, nice tutorial, very pretty and professional looking.
    I wonder - IF one wanted to eliminate the frays...if one used 1 inch strips and folded over the top edge as one wrapped the fabric...might that keep everything else the same as shown, but without the frays?
    Thank you for your easy, nicely detailed explanation. A definite addition to my TO DO list!

      If you don't mind taking longer to make it...... what you see....is all the fraying that has occurred..... just looks rustic natural....I really like it ☺

      It seems like the wider than the strips the more difficult it is to manuver.......my own experience....

    I've been pricing jelly rolls, and they cost a lot. Plus, the tutorials suggest we use a batting which is also expensive. So, the rug can wind up costing beaucoup dollars. Too much for me, retired and on fixed income. I am so inspired by your tutorial. The clothesline idea is wonderful and you can get three strips out of one. That works for me! Thank you so much for this! And for your detailed and slow instruction.
    Are you around to reply? I would love to know the size needle you are using, and the length and width of your zigzag stitch. I have watched a lot of jelly roll rug tutorials and no one but you has shown how to do the start. I subscribed and thumbs up! I

      I I truly understand your concerns of the cost of the jelly roll rug. My jellyroll clothesline rug is very inexpensive. I am using a size 14 all purpose needle. On this particular video I use a zig zag size of a 4.0 the reason why I chose that stitch width, was becaus I didn't want the zigzags to show. I ran into a lot of problems with gaps and holes in the rug. It wasn't that many but it was enough to make me decide to change my stitch width. I would suggest using a 5.0 zig zag stitch width to make sure you catch each side of the clothesline. Right now I'm in the process of editing an updated video on the clothesline rug so I hope you stay tuned for the video and thanks very much for subscribing and for commenting. I hope this reply was helpful to you. Thanks again

    Hi again! I am rewatching your vid and have to say that I love your rug so much. I also really like the jelly roll projects that use batting inside but I cannot afford the batting. I do have several clotheslines pkgs though. Do you think this method would work well for placemats too. Again, love, love, love your rug and your teaching skill is plus plus. Many thanks once again. All the best!

      Thank you so much for your comment. I'm glad you found my video helpful. I tried to make sure my video had up close shots so one could see what is going on. The batting is expensive. This alternative is a 💰 money saver. You could make several rugs and not break the bank. Glad you have enjoyed making the clothes line rug. Thanks again

    I loved this! I have SO MUCH FABRIC (I know you understand...) and I've been looking for ways to use some of it in a way that isn't just more quilts. I'm not worried about the glue on your fingers--one of my videos I had big splodges of blue dye that looked like a giant bruise. At least it wasn't a gaping wound or something, right? I'm adding laundry line to my shopping list!

    Beautiful. Do you have to glue the beginning and were you add fabric. And can this be seen on any zigzag machine. I really want to make one.

    • @OlmzarasCalm
      @OlmzarasCalm  4 года назад +1

      After making two Clothesline Rope Rugs I can say the glue is not necessary but you do need something to hold down the fabric until you twist far enough. Any machine that has the ability to zigzag will be just fine. Heck as knowledge increases some one my just find a way around that. Go for it make one

    Oohhh! I love it! I'm trying to do a braided rug and can't seem to get how to tie off the thread and start another to attach the braids. It's a disaster :-( This looks like a better thing to try. Thanks for sharing!

      I've been looking at RUclips videos on braided rugs, pretty interesting. Might try one. Anything to use up my crumbs of fabric.
      Also if you're braiding the rug why not sew it where you will introduce another braid.. When your ready to end it you could decrease the width of the frab in the braid just enough to taper it off to end it
      Your going to make me do a video of this 🤔😋
      Hope you over stood me, I tried

      No need as I've decided the "thorn" is going in the garbage, LOL. I don't even care to save the fabric. Experiments.....sometimes they just don't work!
