I use bip for more than 2years and its battery still can run for one month on one charge,no scratches,no problems whatsoever.May be get myself bip s just in hope the coming upgrade of gps module worthwhile it.All in all the bip model is the best thing amazfit huami produced till now, to my point of view.
Totally agree. I've been using original Bip for 2 years. Always shower with it, no scratches, works great. Still get 40+ days a charge without using GPS. Great product.

It was your review that swayed me to want to purchase this model. LR, I was hoping you could supply me with a link to purchase the S version as it has not been released in Aus and when I contacted Xiaomi Amazfit support, they said they had no release date for Aus & the international version.😩 I even asked them for distributors in Singapore & New Zealand but they gave me no reply to this. Not meaning to be presumptuous for your reply but hoping you could help me out by providing any other recommendations that you think worth considering, these are my priorities - *My main use of this watch is to be 24/7 aware of emergency call coming from my mothers fall pendant or her landline. I'm not sure if I want to upgrade to Bip S. I have been using Bip for more than almost 2 years and I'm pretty happy with it. You're correct, it's not a major overhaul but more like a version upgrade ie 1.0 to 1.1 but the upgrade is quite good. According to it's website the watch has better accuracy on it's GPS (IMO the older Bip's GPS is quite accurate for me. Using it for cycling most of the time), improved accuracy with it's HRM (which is something I'm quite excited cause the old Bip HRM is quite inaccurate IMO) and lastly longer battery life {90 days standy). Why I purchase Bip instead of other fitness watch? Very good battery life and cheap. 45 days standby and 22 hrs on GPS mode. It's is simple and minimalist. To the current Bip user, is it worth to upgrade? IMO it's not. It's still working fine but hey, I think I should donate my old Bip so I can get the new Bip S right? :)
Yeah new physical button with white finishing on middle, 5atm, colours n symbols changed to more like mi band 4, more accurate Sony GPS chip. And last n my favourite is music control just love for bip s

I heard about this a day after I ordered a GTS. My bip lasted 14 months then didn't survive a few tame dips in a river :(. This being a refresh piques my interest less, but transflective was awesome.

I don’t think you can compare this to the Mi Watch. That’s a full fledged smartwatch with way more features and a stronger processor. I guess it really depends on your budget and what you’re looking for. Cheers!

Amazfit has to up the game. Other Chinese companies like Zeblaze, Lemfo DT No. 1 are coming up with good watches that cost USD 20-40 and look better are built better and do lot more. I don't see why someone would spend 50-60 USD on BIP when you would get a much better package for the price.
I am disappointed about the huge, unchanged bezels BUT I definitely did not expect it to be that smooth. Your review changed my mind about getting it. It should worth 60 euros for a screen this improved over the bip.
what is the backlight temp color compared to the amazfit bip? the original bip was very cold which to me was not nice. from your video it was hard to tell
Too bad I just ordered the original Bip ($60). But all well. Wanted an entry in to the amazfit linup. I have had many, many smart watches. Love to see a company that pays attention to battery life and has "entry level" price points on some products. I really like my BIP but dropped it a few months ago so have been struggling along with a cracked and chipped screen (so much for Gorilla glass!). If you're already on the BIP, the BIP S would definitely be a good upgrade. It's just so much smoother. I think that alone is a good reason to upgrade.

Same. Like 1 week before the S was announced, I bought a BIP. I found some review which compared a Bip to a Garmin Fenix 5 and the tracking and HR features were nearly identical, so I'm not overly sad. I'll get a Bip S in a year or so.

Any idea whether the Bip S still requires connection to a smartphone to sync weather info? I notice that the temperature field isn’t populated in the video.
Oh it definitely does. The BIP however uses better bluetooth connection now - it's BT5.0. I didn't connect the watch to my phone at the show and that's why the weather wasn't showing up correctly.
Sorry, that was poorly worded. I meant a ‘manual connection’ by syncing to the app. My Bip doesn’t sync weather automatically for some reason (possibly a bug). Just wondered whether the Bip S also has this limitation but I guess it’s too early to tell?
I experience the occasional slowness after receiving notifications, does it happen to anyone else? UI becomes choppy and slow for a few minutes, usually after a few notifications have been received at once.
The bip has been one of the best tech purchases I ever made with regard to value and functionality. Amazfit rock!

I have the original Bip and use it mainly to track my runs, especially the heart rate. Do you think it's worth upgrading to the Bip S?
I think it is worth mentioning about the HR sensor and the charging dock. Are these two changing? The HR sensor is definitely changed I guess (?)
From the back it seems the same to me. Charging dock is also similar.

It's a 64RGB color gamut display. Should show more colors now.

I understand how you feel. There are goods and bads. But overall it is a decent refresh. That is why they call it the BIP S and not BIP 2 :P
Has the vibrating alarm improved ? The current bio only goes for about 3 seconds.
Can you access the music control while its measuring your workout? E.g. jogging, cycling, etc...?

Probably, that's standard with most fitness trackers today, such as the Xiaomi Mi Band 4.

The GTS comes with a better display. Otherwise, functionality is pretty much identical. It will be released really soon.

Is your daily watch driver the t Rex and if it isn't what is it and why??
My daily watch is currently the GTR Lite. The T-Rex is a great watch but I'm not a fan of the bulk and the rather uncomfortable straps.

Any idea whether the Bip S still requires connection to a smartphone to sync weather info? I notice that the temperature field isn’t populated in the video.
Oh it definitely does. The BIP however uses better bluetooth connection now - it's BT5.0. I didn't connect the watch to my phone at the show and that's why the weather wasn't showing up correctly.
How else would the watch get the weather info to display lol? Any smartwatch needs a phone to get internet/weather information
Sorry, that was poorly worded. I meant a ‘manual connection’ by syncing to the app. My Bip doesn’t sync weather automatically for some reason (possibly a bug). Just wondered whether the Bip S also has this limitation but I guess it’s too early to tell?
is the thickness of the Bip S the same as the original Bip?

Very soon. The watch I checked out was an international version. Also pricing of $69 is for the US.

Yep it can. You can access that in the app!

I found a mod on xda that I installed on my watch that allows me to change alarms directly on the watch itself, but it's a bit complicated
You can set it on the watch itself. Not necessarily on the app. Hope that helps!

You can do it directly on the watch.
You can turn the alarms on or off but you need the app to setup a new alarm

Yes, it has a backlight which you can set to turn on when you lift your wrist or when you push the button on the side
Can it download apps
I experience the occasional slowness after receiving notifications, does it happen to anyone else? UI becomes choppy and slow for a few minutes, usually after a few notifications have been received at once.
Guess the RAM is not enough to handle the graphics.
