    What Is The Boveda Butler? Boveda's Rob Gagner Explains
    Boveda partnered with another company in order to develop a digital hygrometer that links to your phone.
    The phone app works with both Android and iOS, and has no subscription fees. At only $20, the Butler is a great deal, and also comes with a calibration kit.
    In the app, you can name and set pictures for each Butler-connected humidor. Besides this, there are notes sections to put in as much information as you need.
    The calibration kit uses the 75% RH Boveda pack. This is because the 75% uses one type of salt, while most other RH packs are blends of two.
    The 32% pack also uses only one type of salt. Therefore, for even more accuracy, you can do a two-point calibration with both 75% and 32%.
    A one-point calibrated Butler has a 2.4% degree of variance, while two-point offers 1.8%.
    One-point calibration takes 24 hours, therefore the two-point calibration is 48 hours.
    In order to calibrate, just set up your Butler in the calibration kit, go into the settings wheel in the App. Click Calibrate, and it gives you the option to do one- or two-point calibration. Note, however, that for two-point calibration, you need to buy the 32% pack, which doesn't come with the Butler.
    After calibration, the Butler app allows you to set temperature alerts, with both high and low ends. The alerts are based on a six-hour average based on hourly updates from each Butler. If the temperature falls out of your range for more than six hours, the app alerts you.
    You can look at statistics for relative humidity and temperature hourly, daily or monthly.
    The Bluetooth connectivity of the Butler allows you to check all of your humidors instantly, but there's another benefit. Because you don't have to open your humidor to check it, you're not affecting the humidity at all by checking.
    Overall, compared to inaccurate analog hygrometers and non-calibratable digital hygrometers, the Butler offers vastly more accuracy and convenience.
    However, keep in mind that even a calibrated Butler can be 2-4 relative humidity percentage points off. Also, recalibrating your Butler every 3-6 months will keep it accurate, especially when entering a different season.
    We hope you enjoyed this explanation of the Boveda Butler and how it's different from other cigar storage sensor solutions. Please like this video and subscribe to our channel for more cigar videos, and much more men's lifestyle content.
    REMEMBER to comment! We'd love to hear your thoughts on cigar hygrometers, and your experiences with them.

    Hey Guys! I really like your videos. Could you do a video on tobacco Beatles. What they are, do they affect your cigars and what you can do about them if they are found in your humidor? Thanks.

      Freezing is the most easy way to kill any beetle and other insects ... Some cigar manufacturers actually freeze all their cigars before shipping them out to costumers to make sure there is no tobacco beetles.

    i wish he went more in depth on the "take notes" part. only reason i havent bought one is because i already have an app thats a "virtual humidor" which i search all the cigars i have in my humidor, so i can see the brands and all information on each cigar, and even record my smoke experiences..
    is this part of the app like that? or is it just me writing the name and thats it..?

    Is there a way to remotely monitor when not within Bluetooth distance?

    • @Bespokeunit
      @Bespokeunit  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Sparkola,
      Yes, there is actually. You can do this by having an older device with data or WiFi that has the app installed and within range of the butlers. If you open the app on another device elsewhere, it'll provide you with up-to-date info via the one that's in range.
      Best,

    I tried looking for this device in Amazon and at the Boveda web page. I am guessing that this product is no longer available, correct?

    • @Bespokeunit
      @Bespokeunit  3 года назад +1

      Hmmm, thanks for bringing this up. We've looked around and can't seem to find it either. We'll reach out to Boveda because it's the first we've heard of it no longer being available. If you're in a hurry and need a device, I'd recommend Sensor Push or Govee instead. Otherwise, I'll try to get a definitive answer to you in a few days.

      I think that your mileage may vary. There are lots of people that swear by them whereas others have had issues setting it up. Boveda has done a lot of firmware and software updates, which has improved it considerably.

    And this is how you discover some BS channel. The product is garbage. You go on their Android app and has 5000+ downloads. If you add iOS user you end up with around 10k units sold world wide. On the Android the app has 2.6/5 , with huge connectivity issues. They claim is all good after version 1.4.3 but I am using 1.4.4 and is still garbage, with huge connectivity issues. I needed 3 units but got only 2 to begin with and got issues with both, yet you find some guys like this kissing boveda's ass. After a video like this there is no way they can say anything at all and be trusted.
