Moreover, Kenneth Stern (who drafted the IHRA definition) has admitted that the definition is being "weaponized" in an effort to create a "chilling effect" on free speech regarding Israel-Palestine.
Imagine the claim that criticism of China's abuses of the Uighurs was motivated by Sinophobia. Or that criticism of the Russian attack on Ukraine is due to Russophobia. This would again be a blatant and clumsy smear tactic. It would also be a laughably transparent attempt to protect China and Russia from sanction and accountability for their human rights records. Which is to say nothing of the very real damage to the fight against real racism and bigotry.
