This is one of my most favorite pieces of music that exist, from nealry my two most revered musicians. I absolutely have to see Stanley Clarke in person. RIP Chick, such a wonderful soul.
Mine also. I love this tune. On one tour when I saw RTF, they would do this tune, and Chick would break into a Brubeck like blues swing, with Lenny White switching to brushes for a few minutes, then take it back to the great melody. It was magic. I saw them twice that tour.
You prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
@Drew Preston thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I am so glad I got the chance to see him with Gary Burton. And two nights playing the Kansas City Symphony. He played Mozart's 23rd piano concerto. They gave him intermission to improv. 1st night he pounded out KC Blues. The third night he played a flamenco piece and split up the audience to sing different parts by row. He was pointing at the different orchestral sections and audience back and forth and conducting an audience participation masterpiece. It nearly brings tears to my eyes as I remember. What a musical gift to this world. I discovered him as a kid in the 90's and am pained by the thought of never being able to take my kids to see such an experience. Thank you God for the fleeting gift of beauty you give to the world through people like these!❤
fantastic! I listened to this track over and over when I was a teenager in the '70s while I was deciding whether to leave home... this music attracted me out into the big wide world... Great to see this today
After a 50 year run together.....the virtuosity just got better every day. Energy and synchronstic blending like these 2 musicians.....is hard to replace. MISS YOUR ESSENCE Chick! Carry on the tradition Stanley! RTF²
If you weren't able to see the original electric full production live in concert then you missed something very special. To see this all acoustic performance makes the composition so much more special.
This is the song that blew my mind completely. I had heard it on the radio when I was about 11 and had no idea who created this absolutely sublime experience. Thanks Chick, and Stanley for bringing me along for the ride! : )
So incredibly happy to have found this video! Almost two decades ago, I spent about a year learning this by ear. I'd digitally slow it down on my Pentium 100 so I could get my head around all of the fast runs (pre-internet and pre-online chord chart days) so that I could perform a solo piano version for my music college audition. Muscle memory is still mostly there after all of that time, but even back I've got absolutely nothing on how chick actually plays it! I love seeing how he's voiced this chord or that, plus the turn of beautiful sequence at 1:42 remains one of my favourite chord progressions in music. Stanley plays like a boss throughout. Thank you for re-recording this beautiful, meditative piece.
This is the song that inspired me to explore jazz further when I was a senior in high school. I would listen to “No Mystery” & “Interplay” over and over, soaking up the extended harmonies that were new to me, loving the way they made me feel differently from rock or pop. Thank you for the overhead piano cam!
Chick Corea: The Best JAZZ piano-keyboards player, composer, performer, band leader in History ! Stanley Clark: The Best JAZZ bass player in History ! Thanks to both: For the maximum feelings of Joy, Beauty and Tranquility you have given to Humanity.
Sam : I meant JAZZ (original comment changed). That is, not including Ellington, Monk, Basie or Peterson, which also were (maybe mainly) Big Band artists...
Lovely! Seeing you back in the 70's at Hofstra University on Long Island, NY changed me forever! Thank you for your wonderful gifts of talent you have offered this world. There is NO ONE like RTF!
@@smitskee great place to see shows! Saw Stanley solo there and Pat Metheny. I also saw Pat playing in the Hofstra Rathskeller was like seeing him playing in a living room!
@@ShamansDream111 Jay, was it called the Hofstra Rathskeller, or Hofstra Coffee House? Either way, I saw a bunch of shows in that room as well. The Eleventh House, with Larry Coryell, Tom Waits, Kenny Rankin, and a bunch of others. Like you said, very small room. Between that room, the Playhouse, and the athletic Field House, I’ve seen 25-30 concerts on the Hofstra Campus. Good times.
@@smitskee you have a great memory! I’m pretty sure I saw Larry Coreyl too. I remember seeing Rick Derringer and Johnny Winter at the Athletic house. How about My Father’s Place saw many a classic show there too!
através da intimidade a música é o maior poder de fraternidade. um diálogo profundo e complexo como poucos conseguem. agradecido a todos os grandes comunicadores de afetos
Thanks for posting this Chick..!! From seeing you in Huntington, Northport, NYC, ..remember the old Palladium days ???... To the Keystone Korner in Palo Alto, San Fran, Yoshis, and in Santa Cruz,, ALWAYS a Fantastic performance..!!
Remaster all the Return to Forever albums and reissue........I think Romantic Warrior was. Not sure about the others. I have a copy of Where Have I Known You Before, but its a copy from Germany. Polydor was the label. It's hard to find the albums, I bought mine off Amazon. That was great guys!! Huge fan!! 😎 *APPLAUDS*
Well, you may find this wonderful, or sacrilege, or a bit of both (as I kinda do)...But - you should check out Return To Forever - the Anthology. They remixed Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy, Romantic Warrior, and most of both Where Have I Known You Before and No Mystery. I really wish they'd done all four albums in their entirety. Anyway, it's a new digital mix that more or less follows or attempts to improve the original, in the vein of the Genesis remix series or Steven Wilson's King Crimson remixes. Well worth picking up, especially if you're really familiar with the original versions. My verdict = some things are much better, especially on Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy, but some of the cool effects are missing or changed on Romantic Warrior in particular.
The Romantic Warrior was the first RTF song I ever heard. I spent months studying the bass parts. Finally one day, YESSSS! Thank you RTF for helping me learn real music!
🙏🏽R.I.P. Mr.CHICK COREA 😇🙏🏽Return To Forever

Thank you, Chick. You inspire every musician that follows you
