Anja, i want to thank you for your lessons. I started learning german a year ago and went from being a total beginner to understanding and speaking in full sentences (maybe 1 or 2 at a time) in 3 months. Because of how hard i was cramming information every single day for those 3 months, i got the worst burnout of my life and stopped until recently, your videos are a great pick-me-up, and it turns out i didnt forget as much as i thought i would.

I actually understood most of it! I actually thought it was because it had English subtitles but then I realized they were auf Deutsch. I really surprised myself, but I've had 2 years of college German. I'm seriously considering doing this course, looks very fun

Is the mistake stating that German has a longest word? Or if you mean the longest word in the dictionary, apparently in November 2022, Duden said it was Rinderkennzeichnungsfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz, also with 79 letters.
The longest word in Welsh, with 58 letters, is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, a village on the Isle of Anglesey. It was contrived in the 19th century in order to give a railway station the longest name in the country, so as to attract tourists and create extra business for the railway company that owned it. In English it roughly means 'St. Mary’s Church in the Hollow of the White Hazel near a Rapid Whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio near the Red Cave.'
The longest word in English that is in the dictionary has 45 letters and is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, the full name of silicosis. This is a diease caused by breathing in crystalline silica dust, which damages the lungs and causes shortness of breath.
Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia is the fear of long words. I hope no Germans suffer from this.

I’m the same way. As long as there are subtitles, I’m good, but just spoken language, I only catch about half of what’s being said

Anja, I'm so glad I came across your channel! There is a guy (Bob the Canadian) who teaches English that I usually refer to as the teacher I always dream about. Since I started to learn from him, and considering that I have a passion for learning foreign languages (I'm Brazilian, by the way), I started to look for teachers of other languages that use the same style as his, meaning teaching the language in context. Now that I have found you, my search is over-at least for German! Thank you so much!

Dear Anja, I am taking a temporary break from learning German. Your lessons are amazing, but at the moment, I hate anything German bcos of its complicity with the genocide of Gazans. I never thought this would happen, I used to admire Germans so much
And I found it hard to watch because my great grandparents were killed by Germans. But I need to challenge myself so here I am!

I can understand this perfectly, so I must be at a good level of german, but when I watch easy german interviews to the people it still happens pretty often that I don't understand at all what a person is saying, how is this possible, I feel like each time I'm like, "ok I'm finally really getting the hang of german" and I'm feeling good, then germans are like "Sike! Ahaha oh silly I hope you didn't think it was gonna be THAT easy didn't you? So they speak a bit faster and then it becomes like Arabic again
