      Boston's defense works on teams that don't have center that can post up and/ or has a player that's a walking mismatch. for example Denver nuggets.. They can't hide their centers in pick and roll by putting Tatum on Jokic because he would kill them in the post..So their centers would get burned on switches in pick and roll which would force them to stop switching.. They'll have to double jokic and that puts their defense into rotation.. That's how Denver has dominated the Celtics.. There are very few teams that can do this to Celtics..

    The difference between Tatum now and before is when he wasn’t scoring he was not composed and he didn’t do a lot. But now his mental toughness is elite, he drew 10+ double teams in the first half alone, he’s become an ELITE defensive rebounder and his playmaking is 10x better vs two years ago. His gravity and all around contributions still massively affect the team even the shot isn’t falling, that’s huge

    • @kubaszymkowiak
      @kubaszymkowiak 5 месяцев назад

      That was also a perfect gameplan by Mazzula - he knows how good Luka is and always has been and decided to get rid of the reason why this year, his brilliance translates to team success - the flow of Mavs offense. They disrupted everything that made the Mavs great in the first three rounds and let Luka get his. He's not going to drop a 100 so he can have his 30 or even 40 if he's prevented from passing the ball. I'm excited to see what Jason Kidd comes up with on Sunday and how the Celtics defense adapts. I hope to see some close games where Jrue's gonna have a shot at some clutch defensive plays leading to transition offense. I feel like his presence made all the guys so much better defensively.

    Tatum is the reason the mavericks got no lobs, having the ability to put Tatum on gafford or lively so kp or Al can be on Washington or djj was everything. Makes it so you can't get lively and gafford in the pick and roll, rolling to the basket. That game plan destroyed the mavericks offense, yeah Tatum had some turnovers and didn't shoot great, lead the game in assists and rebounds, and is the KEY to the defensive game plan, so no it wasn't a shitty game for him, it was a fantastic game, just a poor offensive game, but he didn't need to score clearly. There's a reason Tatum had a better +- than brown and porzingis

    Horford got abused the last 2 series because he was playing 37-40 plus min at 38 years old ...When he limits it to 25-30 he is more effective like he was tonight as they can keep him fresher...AS long as the Cs keep KP in the middle and take away the 10 lobs a game Dallas was getting that's going to force Luka to expel more energy. He was tired tonight because they kept going at him. You could see his knee was bothering him. The Cs just have to play their game and limit the runs. 1-5 they are going to get the matchups more often. Stay consistent grind it out, and the C's will do what they have done all year

    The way people consume basketball is so superficial and box score driven. Jayson Tatum faced stacked boxes with 4 guys locking eyes w him AT ALL TIMES. Yet he still drew in the Defense to create for others, rebounding and pushing the ball to not allow the Mavs to get set. Even just making the pass that SETS UP an assist for a teammate. He does all these little things that people don’t acknowledge in order to push their weird agendas.

    Both Brown and Tatum, score wise, had subpar scoring games, yet the Celtics won. But that is because they have decided that defense is their number one priority, they are going to make the Mavs work for everything, and unlike Anthony Edwards, these two guys or even White or Holiday, they just do not quit, they play even harder....The Celtics are just going to wear down the Mavs and by the third or four game, they are going to do what they did to Mitchel and Haliburton, which is make them work so hard that their their bodies just will give up and they will be in the injury report.

      What people usually ignore is that Tatum gets the best defender on him, and teams plan to shut him down first. Therefore, the other guys have a better chance of playing better. Tatum might not have played amazing but he played well enough to help the team win given his coverage. I will keep paying 300 millions because otherwise teams will shut down Brown and then who do you go to?

    Had a feeling Hingus Pingus was ready to go for a bit but Boston was confident they'd be able to handle Cleveland and Indiana without him. Looks like the extra rest was well worth the wait. Hes going to be huge for Boston. Dallas just doesn't have the personnel to guard Tatum, Brown, Pingus, White and Holiday all at the same time. Even when they brought in Hauser and Pritchard they were getting easy drives and kick outs to open shots. I don't think Lively is capable of defending, and Luka and Kyrie are weak points on the perimeter Boston was happy to go at. I might be a bit bias considering Im a Celtics fan, but this series feels like a 4-1 win for Boston and I don't mind if every games a blowout lol.

    • @bertle26
      @bertle26 5 месяцев назад +3

      @nickwaller8511 the turnovers were bad and the shooting could have been better but he only took 16 shots that's hardly chucking. Plus his defense and rebounding aswell as him driving and collapsing the defence creating shots, he had a decent game

    • @bdmatsterrr
      @bdmatsterrr 5 месяцев назад +7

  • @tangerinedream106
    @tangerinedream106 5 месяцев назад

    A lot of the Mavs players (aside from Luka) seemed rattled and not ready for the moment, they didn't come in with that energy that they've had all post season long. I had doubts about Porzingis coming into this and I'm glad he proved me wrong. This series is far from over though, Dalas had their worst game of the entire playoffs (yes even worse than Game 1 vs the Clippers). I except Dallas to make their adjustments and punch back.

    Kristaps did look really good: but in the third quarter he was struggling with the mavs strength and aggression. struggling to get to spots on O to set screens, and on D boxing out (specifically free throw where PJ just pushed him OUT OF PLAY when the ball hit the rim). i wonder if that's just him or if that's him being "out of shape" from sitting. He is the X factor for sure. Al being the full time Center will result in Luka step back 3s for 70 points

Lively got called for one foul but porzingis was getting pushed around all quarter.

    People don't actually watch the Celtics it's pretty clear. Horford is a fantastic defender the only reason guards beat him usually is because theyre fast and horford is damn near 40 years old. Luka does not have the quickness or athleticism to just get free buckets on horford. Luka still gonna get his points, but he is gonna have to work for em.

I honestly would love to see Mavs say let Tatum beat us cause I know he would go for 40+ and if Tatum gets to 40 points with this team that is a W so yea they really should try and let the others beat them before Tatum
