Ingredients:
COLLARD GREENS: THANKSGIVING/HOLIDAY SIDES
Bunches of fresh collard green (4.5 lbs)
1 med onion diced (1/2 large onion)
4 cloves garlic
2 lbs smoked turkey (or meat of choice)
1/3 cup bacon drippings( optional)
1 tbs granulated chicken boullion
1 tsp red pepper flakes
3 tbs Apple cider vinegar
1-2 tsp Lawry's Seasoned salt
2 cups water
** Cook meat 30-40 mins on med heat prior to adding greens(depending upon toughness )
** Cook greens 1.5 hours (may need more or less time depending on toughness and your desired tenderness)
**Approx 2 tbs baking soda ( it is used to help clean an tenderize)
*taste and adjust as needed
MAC N CHEESE: THANKSGIVING/HOLIDAY SIDES
Ingredients:
1 lb elbow macaroni noodles
12 oz half and half
1 lb sharp cooper cheese
8 oz sharp cheedar cheese
8 oz Velveeta cheese
1/2 stick butter
2 tsp granulated chicken boullion (optional)
2 cups sharp cheedar cheese (topping)
** Cook noodles al Dente'. You will stir noodles and cheeses on low heat until fully melted
** Mac and cheese will become very thick while stirring. There will be NO NEED to add extra half and half/milk
** For creamy mac n cheese my family and I use at least a 1:2 ratio for noodles to cheese.
Ex:
Macaroni Cheese
2 lbs 4 lbs
1 lbs 2 lbs
8 oz 1 lb
4 oz 1/2 lb
Peach cobbler recipe
Ingredients:
2 - 15.25 oz cans Sliced peaches in HEAVY syrup (or 1 - 29 oz can)
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 stick butter (melted)
** For a more dry cobbler, add a LITTLE or NO heavy syrup at all. If you do this, add more sugar to the wet batter mix. (my cobbler was more wet because i used all of the syrup)
*I baked this using a 9" cake pan
* @ 350 F Bake 1hr 5min (you may need more or less time)
*there is NO EGG in this recipe
*serve warm
THANKSGIVING TURKEY! MOM'S RECIPE WITH A SECRET INGREDIENT
Ingredients:
1 - 13lbs - 16lbs Turkey
2 tbs seasoned salt
1 tbs unseasoned meat tenderizer
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp liquid smoke (secret ingredient!)
1 stick melted butter
top with a little extra paprika
*brine overnight (8-12 hours)
*bake at 350 F cover loosely
* it takes approx 13-14 mins of cook time per pound @ 350 F for an unstuffed turkey
DELICIOUS Mashed Potatoes And Turkey Gravy
You may ask, "Why self-rising flour?'
Mom says: It gives the turkey a better texture.
** There was no need to add butter.
Butter was added when I initially made the turkey.

12oz evaporated milk
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 eggs
2 tbs plain flour
1/4 tsp lemon extract
1/2 stick butter
2 pie shells

Omg! I could eat greens everyday, they're so delicious. I will say this, the pot liquor is good for you. When I'm feeling under the weather, I drink a cup of this green liquid & it really helps your digestive system. I remember watching this crazy show years ago, about these women in prison. This one woman was sick & the 1st. suggestion was make some greens & give her some pot liquor. 🤣🤣It really does work. You "rocking" the braids Sister Queen 👑.
